Yes, I can just imagine all these soldiers running around with laptops and miles and miles of cable I suppose you could hit your enemy over the head with the laptop or strangle them with the cbale or just meet them in the forums and speak so much 1337 speak that they go crazy

I'll follow the trend and say either the machine gun for brining an end to the days of cavalry charges and lines of nicely ordered soldiers marching upon their enemy, or the Kalashnikov for giving people from all over the world a cheap reliable and relatively powerful weapon with full auto.

I read on the BBC's website just before that he (the lawyer) was taken to hospital with chest wounds but nothing major. Link to article

Another interesting thing to know would be how many vehicles have been written off and how much has been spent replacing them and how much has been spent repairing other damaged ones. The US forces must have lost a few Humvees by now.

Regardless of whats good for them, if the Howard government has anything to with it, the ADF will be getting Abrams just because their American and as seen on TV in Iraq. I would probably personally slant in favour of later model Leopards 2's or this wonderful OPLOTS, but I can't really see the Australian government buying tanks off Ukranians, I don't think the Yanks would appreciate their mighty Abrams been ditched in favour of something out of Eastern Europe. But you never know, maybe the entire Liberal party will die soon in Australia and a more open party will take over that isn't so intent on following the US.

I agree with everything you suggested -

More realism is a definite. Better graphics would be nice, but if I could have only one thing in OFP2 it would be more realistic modelling. For example, if you were in a T-55 and were firing at a Leopard 2A6 at a range of 1km and hitting its frontal armour, it would not penetrate, no matter how many times you fired it off. And visible damage on vehicles and buildings. Being able to see entry points from AP rounds on knocked out tanks and the like. -
Good bye, have fun. I have enjoyed reading your posts, espicially when Sweden and Denoir was involved

This has been around a while, I think there might have also been a thread or two about it. Its quite good if you get it working right, pity you can't further motivate your comrades by yelling and screaming and threatening to blow off certain fragile parts of their bodies.

Quake IV is been made on the Doom 3 engine so no revolutionary engine there, which is a first.
-
It seems it uses a heavily modified Return to Castle Wolfenstein engine which in turn is based on the now pretty old Quake III engine. *Edit* Beaten by Speedy Donkey

I'm putting my money on HL2 over Doom 3 at the moment. The Doom 3 engine looks too limited to small areas and it all looks a bit cartoony. Still think it will be a good engine, but HL2 will appeal to me more and it *should* be coming out soon. Supposedly the release date is September the 30th which is rather soon, but there has been no annoucements of it going gold and there is speculations of delay. We'll see... Don't know much about UT2004 graphics, I would presume their just an update of the UT2003 graphics. STALKERs graphics look good, and really set the atmosphere.

I think terrorists can be freedom fighters, and vice versa. I view terrorists as people or orginisations who are willing to attack and use terror against a civilian population for some kind of gain. So if someone sets off a bomb in a military base of an army that is occupying their country, they are a freedom fighter. If they set that bomb off in a civilian population, they are a terrorist, but still might be a freedom fighter.

Well it seems the storyline for Soldner Secret Wars isn't too far of the mark then.

Back onto the topic of the Type 91 rifle... I think it looks like a hybrid of a M4 and a SIG-550 (anyone knows what SIG stands for, if anything? Swiss Ingenous Guns?). Anyone, good to be back on the forums after two months of no computer

Maybe have recoil settings as a difficulty setting so you could switch realistic recoil on/off. When switched off, the weapons just rise slightly like they do in OFP1.
-
It would definetely be cool if OFP2 had voice recognition technology built into it for the AI. And if you said something they didn't understand, the AI could say "what on earth are you talking about" or something.
-
I definetely support this idea. It looks stupid in games where nearly all the characters are the same height, weight and in ssome cases, all have the same faces.

Got to love moments like that Once I witnessed a headon between a Pe-2 and a MiG-3. The Pe-2 was coming in to land at the same time that the MiG was trying to take off. The result was quite messy. I even took a screenshot because it was so funny. Bless the AI and air traffic control!

Since I can't control a WWII plane in a dogfight with realism settings on, I doubt I will be able to control a modern high-tech one in a dogfight. That's where invincibility and unlimited ammo come in When I get it, I think I'll be mainly sticking with the mission editor. That was the funnest thing in Flanker 2.5 for me, making mission. I liked making USvsRussia ship on ship missions with maybe some planes loaded up with ASM's. The Tu-160 was a partically good craft, beeing able to take up to 20 ASM's. I got a good deal of fun watching missiles closing in on ships then wondering if the targetted ships anti-missile systems would be able to take out the incoming missile. I think LOMAC should hold the same fun for me

Very fun. I like the green laser bolts and the sounds. Only problems: As stated, bombs don't work and the hover mode cutting in when you get too close to the ground is a bit anoying, maybe make it a turn on/turn off thing in the action menu. Only other real problem is the cockpit on both the bomber and interceptor are messed up. Besides those issue, very good

Your one of my favourite members with some of the best opinions, but it is good that you are standing up to your morals and won't apoligise for something you don't think you should have too.

Big enough? Ah yes, I forgot that Israel had started building fences and walls all over the place.

The Jeruselum Wall or something you reckon? Might work you know Although I doubt either parties would be happy.

More news from the BBC-US soldiers fire into protesting Iraqi ex-soldiers It seems the US soldiers feelings were a bit hurt when rocks started coming their way so they fired into the crowd.
