ok, after looking around the net for some large scale engagement i noticed that there were very few, and none on the scale i have started. My idea was to have divison sized combat, but i soon realised that idea was flawed due to the sheer size it required (as well as CPU power) so i reduced it to a single brigade plus suport (aviation: 2 companys worth, and logistics: 1 company) (for what its worth i used the 1st Inf Div based in germany as the model for the American forces, just so you have an idea of the size and displacement of units) now so far its running ok on my little old 1.2 Athlon but i havent got everything in place yet, but do you think it would slow it down too much if i continued? or do you think i should scale it down again? i can post an order of battle if it would make things clearer

Brigade size engagements...
Cpl Ryan replied to Cpl Ryan's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
after adding up the amount of units it would take i have decided to reduce it some, i had only placed units for one side and there was over a couple of hundred units but the good side as it didnt lag (yet atleast) just a quick question though, how much larger will the resistance island be, i was thinking maybe i should back off till its released...? -
Brigade size engagements...
Cpl Ryan replied to Cpl Ryan's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
so far this is what ive got placed: •1 brigade of 3 battallions (1 inf 1 armoured) •1/2 an attack squadron (12 instead of 24) •Engineer/logistics company •and 2 companys of aviation (3, 6 apache platoons, 1 platoon of mixed UH-60 and CH47's) so thats...omg i just worked it out, thats 576 individual soldiers for the infantry battalion alone ok im begining to see this is gonna need downsizing somewhat, you agree? -
wait till u try to start and one of them has an error, you gotta sift through it all to find out which of the damn things has the error...

Do you find transport, navigation and observation boring? Do you believe a mission could be fun without a shot fired, like the "locate the 3 Shilkas" mission from the campaign? Do you find instant action to be lame arcade, or simply the best fun? What is a good lenght of a mission? 10 minutes? 30? 2 days?<span id='postcolor'> 1) no 2) yep 3) yep 4) half an hour to an hour (ive never played one longer than an hour) does this mean u got one in the works? -
ok, here's the situation: I'm one of the founding members of the 1st Special Operations Branch and ive been tasked with finding a server 'cos we've out grown our current non-dedicated server. So since ive been unable to find any myself i was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get one... UK based favoured but not necisary. any help appreciated

just adding to your list there...the Tornado GR4 has a 30mm cannon and the F3 variant has a 27mm cannon as does/will the Typhoon, other aircraft using the 30mm are the SU27/30/34/37 series all this can be verified by looking in a copy of Janes Defence Monthly...probebly one of the most accurate and uptodate sources around

OK, i expect this has been asked allready, but i cant find it so i'll ask again: can you have a unit leave a group mid game? The idea is that you are a downed pilot and a squad of spec ops come to resue you and bring you out of enemy territory and then leave to do their own thing... is this possible or is this just not going to work? thanks in advance

The landing gear weight is not everly different...all that is different is the strength and durability. As for the Tomcat/Bombcat it is exactly the same aircraft...the F14D is what is known as the bombcat/tomcat only because of the added avionics. but this aint a flame...just a correction, anyway im off now...

I know for 2 of them - you can get one of them at www.natosoldier.com!<span id='postcolor'> I have thoroughly tested Toadlife's Barret addon and discover accuracy problems. Now I would like to test yours but I have some questions: 1. What are the small vertical lines for? 2. How do you compensate for bullet drop? 3. To what optimal distance is the fixed scope set to? I also have a suggestion: change the unit name from sniperM82A1 to something that includes your name or initials, such as LWsniperM82A1. This is to avoid conflict with other addon makers wanting to use the exact same name and to distinguish the unit name from official OFP unit names.<span id='postcolor'> after testing this rifle, i tried to change weapons of another unit to this model of barret, you seem to have tested it well, do you know what the ammo was called? (as in ap addmagazine "ammo name" ) or does anyone for that matter know?

bloody good job on those models, they would be great to see in game, keep up the good work

Huey would be great for 2 reasons, 1. I believe it was more widely available in 1985 than the blackhawk and 2. It's a helicopter with alot of history thus it would be good for re-creating scenes from vietnam movies  <span id='postcolor'> also, seeing as the UH-1 is still in limited service with the US today, then its more likely it would be in use even more in 1985
