    Modified config.cpp message

I have to voice the frustration of my fellow countrymen - Russian OFP players. Many of them get kicked out of multiplayer sessions on western servers because of this kind of message regarding "modified worlds/intro.wrp". Guys, IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT THAT THIS FILE IS MODIFIED! OFP is sold in Russia as a localized game, i.e. its contents have been translated and modified to accomodate cyrillic letters. Buka Entertainment, the official distributor of OFP in Russia, didn't do a very good job localizing the game and one of their faults is this "modified worlds/intro.wrp" file. We know that almost all OFP players oppose online cheating but in this case IT'S NOT THE PLAYERS' FAULT! There is no cheating involved here in any way - it's just a setback of some bad localizing by Buka Ent. Once again, by default the Russian version of this game comes with modified files (different sizes, modified contents etc.). None of those changes were made to create an advantage over other players but to let Russians see what they are doing in the game. (And the English version is not officially sold in Russia) My message is: please take what I've written into account and don't kick people because they've done nothing wrong! Russian gamers have a "modified worlds/intro.wrp" message and not a "modified config.cpp".<span id='postcolor'> oops!  <!--emo& well... you know... I've actually got an english version of OFP so I haven't experienced this personally. I was just trying to explain what the guys thought because my English is slightly better than theirs  And anyway, there is not a single sane person out there who would go modify "worlds/intro.wrp" because as far as I know it's hardly possible PS i've changed my original post so that people wouldn't get confused over what I want to say

No more respawn killing in mp

map creators are to blame for most respawn casualties. i've seen loads of MP games where the respawn areas were only yards away from the team's flag or their weaponry. if one team is going for the flag, the other team's players are obvious targets if they are close to the flag

I don't know what roblems do u have with your game, but there is nothing so big that would keep me away from playing this game. I mention what problems does the AI have in my game version(1.30). Those are the only problems. I can sneak around in the night and no one can see me. The BMP is shooting at me, no one. If i'm standing he fire a few shoots in my body, but when i'm sneaking in the night he doesn't see me. Is there anything good u can say about this game, here in this forum. More good things you'll say about the game, more and more support will we get from BIS. If u're talking just bad things, they'll lose will.<span id='postcolor'> i can't agree with this. this game brings cash into BIS and hence by improving OFP they would be able to attract even more gamers to buy their product... there is nothing "romantic" left in the game industry - cash, market share and positive reviews are all that matters nowadays (Edited by Cyanide at 7:29 pm on Dec. 10, 2001)

don't just stand at an open place when looking at your map. hide in a bush or smth... have a look around the forum - i'm sure there were at least 2 threads about this problem, sorry couldn't find them though oh, wait, there you go: <a href="http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=2&topic=469 http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=18&topic=931 http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=18&topic=692 et" target="_blank">http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin.... http</a> cetera... Favorite mistakes, bloopers and general mishaps

i'm still messing about with the demo. one of the funny things that happened to me: my squad and i got off the UH60 near dourdan in order to kick some ass in this town. after a bit of shooting and completing the mission objective i had to fly back to LE PORT (important). But when we ran back to the chopper we saw nonje of it! i landed on a hill so this flying can simply rolled all the way down only to be stopped by some trees at the roadside. as it was impossible to take off (alive of course) we had to WALK all the way back to le port from dourdan (~10 mins at x4)

If you like realism, find your own way back/out/home...<span id='postcolor'> in fact i've never had to use this trick, not even in night missions. in "real life" , i used to do a lot of orienteering (i hope it's the right word for the sport where you have loads of guys doing x-country running with maps and compasses). just thought my observation would be useful to those not too familiar with finding themselves on a map... how to use the watch and compass?

the best thing to do when one's lost (at least in demo) is to call support => medic, and of course the doctor will never be arsed to come from far away (unless you have one in your team) but in the radio call you'll automatically shout your coordinates on the map (eg. fg 50). works in my demo... 2 Addons nearly everyone wants`!!!

ok if you want go into further detail about what it really was like back in those days here are my "dream addons": 1. a bio-toilet for the western troops (i think they were already in action in '85) 2. chemical warfare + gas masks 3. nukes (not the "nuclear grenade", it's too weak) 4. a certain % of women soldiers(there should be some respect of human rights after all!!! and the sports car addon would get a new use - getting chics...) 5. vodka for the russians (you westerners reckon it's the russian power source/fuel/food/aim of living) 6. combat divers armed with special rifles firing trident arrows 7. prisoner of war' camps (like the one in the "Great Escape") so that there would be missions to get out of the camp or to free captured fellas 8. body armour 9. fireworks after every victorious mission and on important holidays 10. troops should have the need to sleep/eat/.../... because "otherwise it would be unrealistic" imagine the following scenarios:  (i)a black beret going for a night operation and suddenly falling asleep behind enemy line  (ii)in the mission where the pilot has to  get back after a crash he would also need to steal food from an enemy's base  (iii)a sniper getting distracted by a fit girl and thus missing his target  (iv)the russians would need to nick a NATO chopper to fly and get some vodka somewhere far away because there are no liquor stores on the 3 islands... i've got loads of other wise ideas, just ask and i'll deliver!                ***** now all this was meant to be funny and the point was to show that my previous post about "fairness" was rather sensible... 2 Addons nearly everyone wants`!!!

well if NATO stuff is going to be released it will ruin the game's balance of power! the west will have too many combat options to choose from! you know, russia wouldn't be fighting with sticks and stones at that time! i don't mean that for every western unit there should be a russian counterpart; there just should be some "fairness": if NATO gets say an aircraft, give the russians more variety of firearms out-of-topic wish: i reckon snipers and special troops should get handguns (maybe even silenced! maybe not the specials but definitely snipers: those precision rifles are useless at close-range combat (too long to reload etc.) 2 devil: what is your "ÄëvÄl" supposed to mean?
