These Russian units are great. They really look the part, specially the Naval infantry. Only problem is that I tried them yesterday in a CTF game against the BAS delta guys and I got nailed. It was really frustrating. Those BAS have really powerfull gunsights, but is it me or do the BAS soldiers have very unrealistic armour? They keep walking after getting shot many times. I was unloading full clips of ammo on them with no apparent effect... and they just hadto turn around and shot a single crappy bullet to kill me. Grrrr Shame. I'd love to use these Russians against BAS guys but there's just no balance whatsoever. Maybe the problem is the BAS soldiers, though... Â

This pack is great. So many new little touches in this new version, like the pilot moving his hand to the overhead panel. Spot on! Oh, and have you noticed the rear suspension?

Pzl mi-2 t & ch of polish army released
Capitaine Haddock replied to AirwolfPL's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
And from now on OFP becomes officially: "Mi-2 Flight Simulator" Sweetness. Le Capitaine is a very happy man -
Oops.. yep, "Our Weapons". Those are the guys, of course. Abrams and Co. I do appreciate their goal of balancing the game a bit more. Good thing is that we start to see more people making soviet addons, Hey! even BAS is making a UAZ with an MG! Â
-
So true, Cero... It's good to have teams like "Our Army" making trully nice addons for the East, but there's still so much we need to balance the game a bit. Good to see your website, anyway. There's not too many sites out there dedicated to the Soviet side of things... Bonito bonito

Just a suggestion from M1A2 on the Codemasters forums. (sorry if this has bees discussed here before) The game could really benefit from a random mission generator. My feeling is that there's only a limited ammount of mission types: - Capture position - Search and destroy - Hold position - Insertion/ transport - Rescue/ Med-Evac - Escort/ Protect/ Close support - Reach a position - Etc. By changing the location, time, weather, type of units and ammount of units you could have a simple way of getting a quick new game with no editing time: Just select the mission type and off you go. What are your thoughts on this?
-
That could work, but somehow I see it more like a screen like this: Mission type [ Close support ] Side [ West ] Friendly units [ BAS DES Rangers ] Enemy units [ Random ] Armour units [ None ] Air units [ Random ] Island [ Random ] Weather [ Random ] Time [ Random ] You could define the bits you want in a scrolling list, or even leave everything to random. When you press [ OK ] the game would generate the mission for you. That's all.

I remeber in a few old sims like F-15 and F-19 from Microprose you had recon missions. The objective was taking a couple of pictures of a bridge, base or factory. Simple and fun. You could do something like that. Jump in the middle of the action and come back alive with a film full of shots to win the mission.

Hmmmm... Interesting idea You mean using 4 speakers for the ambient sound and the headphones in mono for the radio? (that's your 5 channels in the 5.1 system) Maybe just using the centre speaker for radio chatter would be enough to do that.

Bump. Anyone?

Nice one! Downloading right now. Can't wait for it Merci beaucoup! Il y a surement plein de boulot derriere!

That's only the new breed of rally drivers. Colin still sticks to the old power-slide school. That's the way he drives and that's how you drive in cmr. Of course you'll never see a 206 doing the same, it'll follow the racing line most of the time, but that's just a driving style/team strategy. What is true is that the 206 way of doing things is becoming the rule...

Yeah... me too. But somehow I doubt it. Sony bought the offcial WRC license which means nobody else can use the actual cars, drivers and tracks, closing the door to 1oo% realistic games for other companies. And of course a 100% realistic rally for the PlayShite2 will never happen. Never. Ever. My only hope is the GP Legends route: A realistic rally game set in the 60s, 70s or maybe the 80s.

Flight Unlimited was quite a revolution at the time. It was the first flightsim to calculate the aerodynamic flow instead of using the usual "fixed tables" with simple preformace specs (like MS Flight Sim). If I remember well (please, correct me if I'm wrong) IL2 works with the same system. At least it feels the same Good thing is that in IL2 (or Forgotten Battles) you could recreate Stalin's Falcons Team in the I-16

Really good news Another little step for the EU to regain its independence.

Have you seen Enemy engaged Comanche Hokum? This is how it roughly works: 1- You load the map 2- The map gets divided in 2: red side and blue side, and gets populated automatically with AI units and Bases. 3- A list of missions appears. Those are the missions for the day. It's all the missions your side it's going to do on that day, from reckon missions to attacks, intercepts, ground support or simple transfers. 4- You pick any of those and you play it, but here is the important bit: The AI still plays the other missions at the same time you play yours. The result: a living world with AI units going on on their business. 5- At the end of the day the game adjusts the frontline, and new missions will appear for the next day. And so forth and so on until you conquer the whole map. The same system would be perfect for OFP.

Faklands mod beta sea harrier release

Sorry to jump on this but the Addon makers make these addons in their own time and for free, so they have all the right to do whatever they please them. You may say "please, could you make an US version" but you shouldn't expect US addons by deffault. Oh. And the Harrier is fantastic. I'm really impressed with how much it does within the game engine limits. Top job. Thanks so much -

Island with working airfield
Capitaine Haddock replied to Dark Knight's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The Russian guys of "Our Weapon" posted once a link to a very big island with an airbase that works fine with the AI and the autopilot: Bears Latha. It reminds me of the big open spaces of IL2, so it must be quite simillar to the actual landscapes of Russia. All very open, with massive trees and very long roads and nice signs in Russian. Ideal for flying the Su-25. This is the link: http://www.flashpoint.ru/addons/pafiledb.php?action=download&id=70 -

So you mean you'd support it if it was... "Project: Iraqi Slavery" ? <span id='postcolor'> I don´t buy it mate...the name of the game is OIL...<span id='postcolor'> i dont really se what the game has to do with OIL??? its not like were gonna make "OIL-transports" that your supposed to make sure they get to the "Iraqi OIL plant", steal the OIL for the USA, get out and mission complete... cause i never mentioned oil in the first place... but the oil thingy, it's a good idea for a terrorism mod  <span id='postcolor'> That OIL mod is very easy I'll explain it to you: "In the Mod you play a country called the USA. This country has huge reserves of oil, but they fear oil could run out in about 20 years time. So what they do is buy as much cheap oil abroad and keep their reserves intact to sell it at gold price when oil runs out in the world. In the game you play as an US soldier that it's send to Iraq to eliminate a dictator put in power previously by the US, but who turned against their original masters, blocking the oil supply to US. Your job is to kill the bad guy and open the Iraqi oil market again so the US can buy this oil and leave their reserves intact. But because the tax payers don't like all that oil business you are sent in a cover operation with the excuse of liberating the Iraqi people (without telling them that the US helped to put that dictator in the first place, of course). That way the people is happy, the press is happy and the only ones that are not happy are the Europeans, but you don't care about the Europeans because you are paid by the US army. So you blame the Europeans, and invade Iraq saying it's France's a Germany's fault, because it's thanks to the US that the French and the German don't speak ehr...  "German" (But that's another mod for OFP)" All this is fictitious of course... Way too complicated for a OFP Mod. It'll never work, so here goes a simplified version you may like more: "You are a good guy and you have to kill the bad guys otherwise the Iraqis will speak German instead of English in the future, and that's a bad thing." Cool mod isn't -
Looking nice!
