Is there any official position of developers on the subject in OFP2? This is the component which going to be missed even more with advances on terrain streaming front and such which potentially could allow island vs island maps in MP. At least can we have infrastructure of classes and float phisycs (at least the basics) put in the game engine and scripting - the mods can do the rest. I think the success of introduction of naval surface and underwater elements in such game as BattlField 1942 proves the need and validity for them whcih only increases giving that OFP maps and action is on much bigger scale.

Maddock it would be nice to see coop missions: - both types East/West - localized for particular type of task/operation - e.g. land and establish bridgehead.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Sith @ Mar. 12 2002,12:33)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">My point exactly <span id='postcolor'> It doesn't have to be like that BTW Good to see ppl played EECH, true - it exposed the missions practically all of them on the map and that's why "jumping" was possible, but those in the know also remeber that amongst missions there are transfers - some even choose for enhanced realism to fly transfer and only then take up missions from the new base. Now I'm too of the opinion that scripting functionality of OFP is such that it all can be implemented even now (best thing BIS done by far is not spending Microprose's way on developing all those details of combined warfare, but exposed the functionality for us to do the job we want). So one can imagine in a full dynamic map-scale warfare there are sectors - it's quiet in one - hot in another. Grab a jeep, call in transport chopper or damn walk to sector X = mission objectives updated - you join another squad/mission/action. You can even chage your speciality this way - become a tanker, pilot, etc. Some dynamic features are implemented in Conquest, some are in others such as KaRRiLLioN's CH_EVERON WAR(AllNorth) (see topic Ctf, ch, dd, tdm, coop missions of mine for dload), so the only problem is to bring it all together and optimize so that clinet/server scripting excution doesn't screw up the fun. To add a bit of details to good things in EECH engine and some ideas to move it OFP: - it has for AI so called hot spots - the coordinats to which AI strategic actions of conquest directed (that can be opposit tip of the island or tatality of all sectors) - ground troops have system of roads to advance on and when the unit comes to the crossroad, hot-spot direction "decides" which turn to take. (this simplified in OFP as not only roads are usable so key positions, towns might be strategic waypoints and form sectors around themselves) - unit which spent it's ammo and fuel to low - stops at next crossroad and generates the supply mission (done by transport aviation dropping crates/transport choppers visiting the unit at that crossroad) (would be nice to implement in OFP and I wish expendeture of fuel would be udjusted to grater to raise importance of resuply, which can be done by ground as well) - if next crossroad occupied the advance down that route is halted to avoid traffic jams (squential advance - hmm might be good per orute, alternatively other units move on to other sectors) - recon missions are generate to confirm status of bases and such if out of action=capture mission, if in action=strike mission, if defnede=supression mission etc.. The recon missions are most important for the engine as it's excution not only on primary mission objective but also along the route would discover/encounter enemy units/objects and generate missions on those as well. (some can be taken to OFP AI mission generation in which player could be involved if it's in his/her sector) - strike generates BDA(Battle Damage Assessment) or another recon and so on - the captured objectives - bases are repaired and resuplied, which are also missions and defnded - since enemy AI objectives are to recon, advance and capture sectors as well (that's where time delayed repair can be done in OFP which would spring up some defence boxes, hospital tent or such and resuply would "bring" ammo crates, vehicles or such) - enemy units on deeper recons can be dealt with - convoy is discovered - intercept generated BAI (Battlefield Air Interdiction) (additionally in OFP can be special ops jobs to mine the road/ambush or such) different missions can be taken up by whatever appropriate unit is free in this/adjustent/base sector - let say strike mission can be picked up by an attack chopper or pare of gunship jets or a tank detachment the whole system interacts on itself and plays on nicely just to illustrate here types of missions in EECH (sorry for long one - EECH is my favorite) Mission Types The following airborne mission types are contained within Comanche Hokum. Only missions marked with an asterisk (*) can be flown by the player. You will receive confirmation of a successful mission completion or failure. *Anti-ship Strike Anti-ship strike missions are direct airborne assaults against enemy surface ships. The mission is successfully completed when sufficient enemy ships have been destroyed. BARCAP (BARCAP) BARCAP missions are used to defend surface ships from attack. Fighter aircraft fly a circuit (barrier) between the sea force and any potential threat. *BDA (Battle Damage Assessment) BDA missions are flown following a strike mission to assess the damage caused. Depending on the information gained subsequent strike or troop insertion missions may be generated. For successful mission completion the flight group leader must fly to within 500m of the target waypoint and transmit recon data using the ‘Transmit Recon’ radio message. *BAI (Battlefield Air Interdiction) BAI missions are used to strike rear area reinforcements and supplies in order to destroy or delay the enemy’s military potential before it can be used against friendly forces. The mission is successfully completed when sufficient ground forces have been destroyed. *CAP (Combat Air Patrol) CAP missions are airborne patrols over a friendly area for the purpose of intercepting and destroying enemy aircraft before they reach their target. CAP missions last for a predetermined period of time. The mission is successfully completed when this time has elapsed. *CAS (Close Air Support) CAS missions are airborne attacks against enemy forces which are in close proximity to friendly forces. The mission is successfully completed when sufficient enemy ground forces have been destroyed. *Escort Armed escort missions provide protection for any vulnerable aircraft flying in a hostile area. The mission is successfully completed when the escorted aircraft reach their destination. *Ground Strike Ground strike missions are direct airborne assaults against enemy ground installations. The mission is successfully completed when sufficient enemy ground structures have been destroyed. OCA Strike (Offensive Counter Air Strike) OCA strike missions are airborne attacks against landed air units at enemy airbases or FARPs. OCA Sweep (Offensive Counter Air Sweep) OCA sweep missions are airborne attacks against enemy aircraft patrolling a target area. *Recon (Reconnaissance) A recon is mission is undertaken to obtain information about the activities and resources of the enemy. For successful mission completion the flight group leader must fly to within 500m of the target waypoint and transmit recon data using the ‘Transmit Recon’ radio message. Repair Repair missions are used to deploy engineers and equipment at friendly ground installations in order to repair damage caused by the enemy. *SEAD Strike (Suppression of Enemy Air Defences) SEAD missions are used to destroy enemy air defences. The mission is successfully completed when sufficient enemy air defence units have been destroyed. Supply Supply missions are undertaken to deliver supplies to units and installations. *Transfer Transfer missions are used to move aircraft to where they are most needed. The mission is successfully completed when the aircraft reach their destination. Troop Insertion Troop insertion missions are used to capture an enemy installation once the area has been secured by a previous Strike or SEAD mission. Advance Ground units only Retreat Ground units only Appologies for long post - but the subject is very interesting

So finally I see the head dukh, he is with RPG and rides on a donkey. At once I understand, that I have chosen not a good position as his breast is obstructed by the RPG pipe, and his head is not too visible i.e. so I have to shoot him in the side but I need to take him out with the first shot, or else he will get me at once and with that same RPG. So here he is in sights, I'm pulling the trigger, but in that exact moment some insect bites me in elbow, I have instinctively moved and shot. I missed - but.... I simply shot off a poor donkey's BALLS, it screamed - well you can imagine how, what more it (DONKEY) has reared (rose in the air on his rear two - sorry don't know the right translation). From unexpectedness the poor dukh pulled his trigger on RPG shooting upwards, and above like a balcony hung a huge piece of a rock which from explosion separated and fall downwards (well RPG grenade power is about 2.5 kg of trotyl afterall), and has started moving down the gorge, and as the place was rather narrow it mowed down all caravan and all dukhs into paste. Our guys at once have covered this stone from AKs which wasn't already needed, and then they laughed quite long, scrabing down from the huge rock whatever was left from the stuff caravan carried. The rock was rather big.

Well in this case same question goes for A-10s then as well.. But as said Su-25 ment to be operated even from roads and grass fields, so not really a problem...

Comrades sencerely thank you, Blake.

Hey, how about stopping the blah blah about which is better and make an organised effort to compile a list of wanted Soviet equipment, which is obviousely missing and to balance the western variety: - should be in service around 1985 - quote main chracteristics, technical and weapon data - quote the supporting sources - preferably counterparts of western units added in game Our squad preparing one soon along those lines as a petition (not that petitions were addressed much till now, but then there will be Oxygen as well ).

In our squad we had an action of collecting some info on bugs and flukes in the game and test to confirm some - here are the results. This is a list of bugs that we have found playing OFP or creating maps. All these bugs were tested on version 1.42. 1) On the NATO boat there are two M2 machineguns but only on of them works. Fire comes from both guns but really only on of them fires. 2) Every soldier can run through the thin walls & if you have 4x speed acceleration you can run through all walls & vehicles (not run over but run below them. Soldier is getting sunk into earth & run below the vehicle) 3) You can’t get your gear on Mi24 up. There are special slots for the gear but you can’t get it up. 4) Front machinegun on Mi17 doesn’t shoot. 5) East have M2 stationary machinegun but not KORD/DShK or other soviet machinegun. 6) Also when you launch a guided missile it must “fall†from the wing & then start. 7) If you destroy cars with a rocket launcher or a satchel charge (or other explosive weapon except for the grenades) it can fly in the air away or stand still on the same place were you have destroyed it. 8) Ships can drive on the land. Also if you put a boat on the map using the editor you can drive the ship on the land (of course with little speed but…) 9) If you put a “Plane†unit & want to take off & gain speed ~150 it begins to get damage. 10) If you eject from a plane or heli on the height below 100 meters parachute begins to burn (smoke comes from it) & when he falls dead (killed in the air on from the damage taken from hitting the ground) (every paratrooper & that who have ejected from the height above 100 meters) he didn’t stop flying (flying in the air like he didn’t land) 11) If you somebody wants to get in cargo to UAZ or jeep he will get to the car through the front door. 12) If you run into the tree it will damage all your wheels. 13) Vehicles can drive onto the walls & abrupt hells. Also people can do so. 14) If you try to get down from an abrupt hell you body stretch. If you will run straightly the soldier will lie down but if you run not straight (sorry I have forgotten how it will be on English J) the soldier would run normally 15) The door in cars & infantry carrier (including BRDM) don’t open. 16) AI can’t sit down (only lie) in battle. 17) There is no water in the game. Just the texture which is like water. Also soldiers can’t swim & breath in water for a some time (they breath in water for 4-5 second & then die) 18) If you shoot in the SCUD wheel the glass will break. 19) Sniper camouflage is going right through the roof in some vehicles. 20) When you’re swimming in M133 or BMP (BMP2) in cargo or a driver the camera will get out from a car like you’re sitting on the vehicle. 21) Gunner in Jeep with machinegun or East boat can rotate 3600 & his legs can be on other soldier on in air. 22) Repair depot doesn’t repair. 23) If you destroy the tower on a tank the crew can survive. Also the other part of the tank are like new (not black as it becomes when you get damage). Also if you put the crew’s behavior “safe†or “careless†& he killed in the tank he will exit it, put his gun on the back & then die. 24) If you fall in car from a high mountain or a hill you & the car won’t get any damage. Also the car can turn when flying. 25) You can’t just drop you weapon or rocket launcher. 26) If you eject from the car you will die. I don’t know what for this option is made for ? Also if you eject from the car on lower speed you can survive but the car will immediately stop. 27) If you kill the driver in the car it will stop in few seconds. In real life in car can go further & further. 28) If a soldier gets out from a truck he will hover in the air & that fall. 29) Helicopter can jump when on hills. 30) Grenades fly through buildings & vehicles. If you throw it in the vehicle it fly explode near it. 31) Sometimes the editor doesn’t find the scripts & doesn’t display a player icon on the map. 32) Helicopters can rotate up side down in the air. Also I have managed to land & the helicopter was perpendicular to earth. 33) In the 3rd person view SVD has a front sight (gnat) but in 1st person view it doesn’t. 34) If you run into the tree on the plane or heli it won’t fall. 35) Fuel stations & ammo crates doesn’t explode. Fuel trucks explode but badly. They don’t cause any damage. 36) Vehicles can move or slide if you put them near hill. (I have created mission near Saint Pierre on Everon & when I got there the M2A2 which were without fuel (!) & drivers (!) were on the hill but I have put them near the road.)(tested only near the hills)(this also happens with destroyed vehicles) 37) SCUD is smaller than in real life. Also if you want to get in as a driver you will climb through the back door. 38) If you blow up a bomb near the soldier he won’t fly away like in realty. 39) There is no fire in the game. Only smoke. 40) Shadows are the big bug J 41) If you shoot from a rocket launcher in BMP to the cabin the soldiers who are in cargo won’t survive like in real life. 42) If you drive on a small speed in tanks or infantry carriers you can’t overrun a man. 43) There no shells that came from M2 or M133 machinegun. 44) If you blow up the gates on the base which is near the Everon airport it will fly in the air. 45) If you lie under the vehicle the camera will shake up & down. 46) If you put a LAW or RPG soldier on the hill and choose a rocket launcher as a weapon, the soldier will stand on the hill 60-750 relative the ground. 47) Sometimes the weapon becomes flat. Also the hand is going right through the Bizon’s silencer. 48) BMP & tank have smoke launchers but there aren’t smoke grenades. Also the planes don’t have chaffs. 49) You can’t kill Vulcan & M133 gunners. 50) BRDM don’t have a wave breaker. 51) MP5 can disappear in the ground. 52) AK74 don’t have burst mode. Also M16M2 in 1985 couldn’t fire in full auto mode. 53) The soldiers aren’t Terminators !!! They just can’t shoot from M60 or RPK when standing from the shoulder. 54) Vehicles (like BMP, M133, M2A2) fly away when you fire a rocket & destroy them. 55) 5 tonn trucks & Ural (all modifications) don’t explode on mines. Also please add some features to the editor: 1) To add ammunition & equipment manually to each soldier. 2) To put a option where soldier can act like talking, sitting, standing in formation etc. All these bugs reported to you to create a greater game which is close to reality.

Exactly idea I was hoping for... KaRRiLLioN - we already tested your C&H maps and they are quite good in functionality, scale and rather distinctive nature of play on them. Now to the idea of "dynamic war" you are working on. It's very promising and we higly interested in getting it to work. We have some resources on mission making, which we can discuss to aid you if needed? Hope the work is progressing? I'd like to have more discussions on structure, viraety of unit types, and especially logistics since teams would need ammunition and supplies for this type of scale. Also the original positions do have to be somewhat balanced in a sense that let say one side wouldn't start closer to the airport so it would get ealier airsuperriority and such. And last but not least how about work with us to setup a league/tourney using your missions?

Such type of missions and MP play that what our squad is after. We waiting now a long time for Conquest, which supposed to be along the same lines type of mission. Also Stronger Than All league seems to be setting up similar idea. But we defenetely hope for more. AI defenetely needs to be included this way number of forces can be increased beyond just the player MP playable limit, and strategic and tactical command skills come into play nicely. We would like to gather all the missions of the described types in a view to setup future Strategy & Tactics league/tornament (STRATAC). We collected some conquest types made by OFPItalia, and other like WelcomeToEveron beta, ideas for project Conflictia and some similar ones. We also would like to invite everybody interested to cooperate/participate in that enterprise, give ideas, missions and whatnot to make it what most of us actually want it to be. please send in your stuff, suggestions, etc to the address: stratac@ofp.ussr-online.net

I 'd suggest you contact Angry Radish who is runing dedicated server for quite some time now Radishville T-1 208.251.17.94 http://radishville.myip.org T-3! that's some bandwidth - potentially yours might be the one of the best playable servers around

It appears one can save during MP (using Shift- savegame code) I was wondering if BIS can implement load as well so MP session can be saved and finished at a later time or when player drops out reloaded with players rejoined? Could come handy in some MP matches for squads and leagues I think...

1.Get latest drivers for Radeon (ATI.COM) 2. Set Shadows LOD in OPFLASHPREFERENCES.EXE to 1.000 3. enjoy

Right, OFP 1.30, install GU/RH on top - fine. RH plays without glitch or reported CTD at the end of mission. BUT down in 4th or 5th mission picked up M60 from dead US soldier and my my my - shows only max 30 in current ammo - no sound when firing - instead of full auto mode usual for mg - it's a single rifle like shot mode only! didn't check much other weapons yet AK, G36 work fine though. reinstall again?! or this is a common problem?
