Both Avenger and Tunguska are still close range AA defense systems and are very good against the choppers. What about some AA against the palnes? What I wish to hear from the Arma2 news is some sort of a serious AA systems like Russian Buk or American Hawk, something at least of a medium range AA defense. Just leaving Tunguska and Avenger in the game seem to be a cheap way to avoid making a "best military simulator". It sure be nice to be treated like grownups by the game developers...

I don't mean to sound extremely rude here, but I believe I am not the only one who wants to ask this. We seem to see a lot of ships in the ADDONS & MODDS: DISCUSSION section in Gnats topic, but hardly ever we get to see these awesome ships in the ADDONS & MODDS: COMPLETE section of the forum. Is that a problem with the Arma engine or Gnat's time problem. Again, please don't be ofended, but I think I speak for the most guys who have been waiting for your addons for couple of years now.

If they plan on adding the REAL Ka-52 into Arma, they would have to change the game engine a bit. That chopper is really a wonder of helicopter industry. It can fly forward at 300 km/hr and 80 km/hr sideways or backwards. One of the coolest tricks it can do is circling around its prey at 80 km/hr and blast it the hell out of it. There was nothing like that available from Ka-50 in Arma. IMO it was the most useless OPFOR addon in Arma after Shilka (the latest patch Shilka). The real cannon of the Ka-52 is a son of a bitch. They gave it a hell of a punch and mounted it to the body of a chopper for higher acuracy. The counter-rotating blades give way less "shaking" in the chopper (there must be a better term, sorry, can't think of it) than the traditional helicopter with a tilt rotor. For these reasons Ka-52 must have the most acurate cannon among all the modern gunships. In Arma it was almost exactly the opposite. Even a little tilt forward for aiming, resulted in moving forward, therefore loosing the aim and getting closer to the enemy that just easily blasts you with MGs. Sorry, but Arma in NO WAYS was a military simulator for all these little reasons. If Arma2 developers spend more time on game engine and less time on graphics, we might get closer to a true military simulator. Lets hope they are listening...

The Lost Brothers -Isaac and Ishmael Mod
bospor replied to miles teg's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Well, the Arma missile God name Mandouble can probably figure out how to fire missile artillery. Ask him if it is possible. It would be a shame to let Manfreds Luna-M to go to waiste; very beautiful model! -

I wanted to ask the same thing as Marijus. Seademon's OFP Mig-29 was way better. Vit had a great BMP-3 and BMD-3 pack, but his planes were mediocre. Even though Vit's Mig-25 wasn't bad. What kind of Israeli/Egyptian war mod without the Mig-25!!! Also Manfred from Flashpoint.ru is offering his Luna-M (NATO designation Frog) missile launcher from OFP to anyone who wants to convert it to Arma. Same thing here, the Sinai war mod without the Lunas is not complete! Check it out. -
Very happy to hear that the stealth is a little balanced... Downloading! Thanks Eble!
-
One question about the stealth capability. Is it one of those stealth fighters in Arma where you just can't lock on? Remember seeing F-117 addon that was "unlockable", which made it kind of useless in this game due to the fact that we have no proper modern AA defences in Arma. If the addon is indestructable, it will quickly become absolete, due to the fact that it is boring. Only cheaters would enjoy such addons. Balance is a big deal in this game. So, how does the stealth work in this addon?
-
This is it? We just gonna talk about it abd drop the subject? Would be nice to hear from the master who created this pack. Is it still possible to fix the optics weapons for closer ranges? Right now this is so wierd to sneak behind the enemy and try quietly to take him out by shooting in the head, BUT AIMING AT HIS ASS! Robert, please, let us know if you plan on changing that or you just leaving it this way.
-
I should of specified that I was ONLY talking about the Russian optics. Friend of mine owns a business and he sells Russian POSP 4x24, 6x24, 6x42 and 8x42 scopes (or PSO scopes). He also sells Kobra and some other red dot (can't remember the name). I used to go and shoot with him, so I learned how he sights the scopes. So I imagine that's how the Russins sight them in.
-
How would you sight a scope to 150 meters if you can't see that far with a naked eye? When you put a scope on the rifle, you need to make 3-4 controled shots at a target using just iron sight. When you make a grouping on that target, you then sight your scope to that grouping. After, you can start sighting a scope to longer ranges.
-
Cameron, I didn't get your point. Why would you want to sight the scope to a long range in this game??? Any scope is sighted to 25-50 meters. Then you just use the scope reticle to shoot at the long range target (you just go lower and lower down the reticle to aim at long-range targets) . This pack seems to do exactly the opposite. Some of these scopes are sighted-in to a 100-150 meter range, which makes it extremely hard to use for shorter distances. You need to shoot way BELOW the reticle to score a hit! This is rediculous! If this is some sort of a new way of modern shooting I am totaly confused by it! In the RPG-7 reticle you sight it in to 50 meter shot at the top of those squares, not the cross and definately not the middle of the reticle (like in this pack). That's all, no big mistery here. The further the target, the lower you go down the reticle (which lifts up your barrel and makes a longer shooting ark for the grenade) . Correct me if I am wrong please.
-
Found some aiming bugs. If you try to shoot a soldier from 70-100 meters using AK-74SU w/PSO scope, you need to aim at his belt to get a headshot. The RPG scope is totaly wrong too, unfortunately. You have to aim at the middle of the reticle squares, instead of the top. Such a good pack, but these little bugs are killing it! Very small suggestion too, if there are any plans for 3.0 version. The iron sight of the Abakan is SO small, like a little niddle! Very hard to aim. Just a suggestion.

GH, any chance you had found some free time to finish this addon?
-
Vilas, Do you have any plans on making that AK with the silencer and some optics? In Arma the OPFOR side got screwed for the silenced weapons for the special forces boys.
-
I will increase smoketrail after launches. Â Â This might be a stupid question, but is it possible in Arma to have a large crater after the explosion?
-
I was also wondering about the non-nucler scud. The chance of SLA having a nuke is ... very unlikely. Even though I love the nuke special effects, it is hard to make realistic missions. Gigan, while you are looking into deadly gas version, could you possible make just a regular high-explosive warhead? I also think that some extra, extra smoke that follows the missile after launch would look very realistic. Thanks for updating this addon, as you see, it is still very much enjoyed by the community!

Su-25 Â Flaspoint to Arma conversion
bospor replied to eble's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Well, first of all, I never called it worthless, so don't act all dramatic here. It's just when an addonmaker converts something, why not converting the better stuff? Tha's all. If the looks of planes doesn't matter, why don't we have a game full of O2 models only? Nobody sees them, they just fly by so fast! Just paint them a little, that's all. Brilliant... -
Su-25 Â Flaspoint to Arma conversion
bospor replied to eble's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
No offence, but why converting BIS OFP stuff? Even in OFP the vanilla models were SO ugly! There was another OFP addon with Su-25 that was much better looking than this thing. But now we are all waiting for the Su-25 from the 85 project, that should be good. Please don't be offended Eble, I am glad you at least doing that for the community, but perhaps better looking OFP model next time? F.e. Tomids Su-22 or Footmunch's Mig-27? -
Lost Brothers IDF Units Ver 1.6 RELEASED

Great! I'll take a look at it tonight. What about changing the pilot? For some reason western pilot is flying the Mig by default. Any chance we will see a Mig-21 bomber? -
This game borders on being a farce.Need AI mod.

After 1.14 I don't like the night missions anymore. Not sure how BIS chooses their military hardware advisors, but whoever advised them on current night vision gear needs to be fired. I have been selling night vision to the military for the last 5 years and can tell you that the modern night vision equipment doesn't work the way they have it in Arma now. For some reason BIS had downgraded the night vision to the effect that no longer is a problem (for the last 20 years or so) . Right now in Arma if you look at the sky outline, your NVG's go dark. WTF is that!? NVG's have automatic control that will send less electrical current if the googles are overwhelmed by the BRIGHT light, like car headlights f.e. It will only respond to such bright light after being exposed to the bright light for over 4-5 seconds. Even then, it is not going to shut down in most cases, but only adjust the current flow so that the bright light would not damage the image intensifier. Only in old Rambo movies people get blinded by bright light while wearing NVG's. The night vision can easily take the sky outline, even the morning sky outline. Think of the very bright muzzle flushes of the weapon that uses the night vision scope. Why do you think the night vision scopes don't go dark when the flash happens? Short, but VERY bright exposions like that are not a problem for the NVG's, so how in the hell some little bit of night skyline or morning skyline can overwhelm the NVG??? I wish to hear from the "expert" who advised the BIS in this matter. -
Su-33 - OPFOR Fighter Bomber
bospor replied to [aps]gnat's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Gnat, if you ever need good pics of the folded wings check this out: http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/su-33.htm -
EricM, Is there a chance to see realistic flight model for Ka-52? In Arma Ka-50 behaves just like a regular chopper (Mi-24, Cobra, etc. ), but Ka-50/52 can also fly sideways just as good as forward or backwards. This is something you never can experience with BIS stuff.

Lost Brothers IDF Units Ver 1.6 RELEASED
bospor replied to Jewish-Freak's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thank you so much for the Mig-21! I just can't have enough play-time with this new toy! It is much more appropiate fighter for SLA army. Any chance to see SLA skin for this plane with the flag and all? I am also missing some clouds addon for it or something, it's keep giving me an error message everytime I start making a mission in the editor. Please advise, thanks! Forgot one more thing... Seems that the armor on Mig-21 is a bit too high. It takes 3-4 missile hits from the BIS Harrier to take me down. It take 2 to take down the Harrier, sometimes even 1 hit is enough. -
Russian Federation Units V.2.00
bospor replied to Shadow NX's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Good news! Maybe you guys can also update the sound on VSS. It is a bit too loud right now. -
Found more little problems. Seems that the speed of the bullet of the RH AKs is much slower than the BIS AKs. I think we all are more used to the "standard" now, probably keep those values the same. The scope for Groza is useless, so is Kobra in Bizon. The bullet hits WAY above the reticle in the scope. Just add a chevron on the optics where the bullet hits and it should be OK. The SVD suppose to have cherry color stock, not so red. Same as AK-74SU, those look great.
