Just curious if that is true. I thought it was more sophisticated than that? Thanks, Belt

Is the damage model for armor based on hit-points?
Beltfed replied to Beltfed's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
But does this mean that everything is simulated down to the physics and systems or does it mean that the combat dynamics are simulated? That is an interesting point Plaintiff. -

I was thinking ArmA was a combined arms sim of sorts. Oh well, the infantry part is damn good at least. -

I understand your point Ben, but just the possibility of it happening puts a good size dent in my like for this sim. Simulators simulate reality. A pistol killing an M1A1 is very far from realistic. -

Thanks guys. So, is it correct to say that if I had enough rounds I could kill an M1A1 by shooting a pistol into its frontal armor? Belt -
Just curious as I was building one for another sim and was thinking of trying it in ArmA as well. Thanks, Beltfed

Anybody working on a panzer iii?
Beltfed replied to Beltfed's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Why is that guy winking at me? That p3 model looks real sharp, would be hard to top that. I'm gonna do it regardless though. Just not so detailed. I'll post a screen here when done to see if it can be used. Beltfed -
Ok, this game rocks (had to get that out of the way). That said, it's really tough; which I find realistic. Can you guys give me some pointers that might let me survive the armory attack/defend missions with a rifle? I have trackIR, giant 32 inch monitor, a fast system and a good gaming mouse. I also have MS, which is only relevant as it affects my right hand coordination and has wiped out some of my visual field. Again, I love this game, would like to mod it eventually, but I need some pointers on playing please . Thanks, Beltfed

Can anyone point me to a good mod that can do this for me? Or is the bullet drop in game already pretty realistic? Thanks.

Hi there, new to the game here . I am trying to get the "cent_tracer" mod to work in ArmA, but am obviously missing something somewhere. I put the "cent_tracer.pbo" into my \addons directory. Then I made a new shortcut to arma, putting this in the propeties for it -- "C:\Program Files\Atari\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=@cent_tracer I got into the mission editor, put myself with an MG and the gamelogic object "tracer auto-add" and then preview it. The old laser tracers are gone but there is no effect there to replace it. Where am I going wrong? Thanks. Belftfed

I'm new to this series, I am very glad I happened to find it. I would ask the guys at game stores where I could find a realistic infantry war sim and most would suggest games that you could tell by the box were not very close to being a sim. Somehow I eventually stumbled on this -- it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. A totally moddable sim that I feel immersed in when I play it. I hope it has a long life ahead of it, it is fantastic!

Great, thanks for the advice guys. I will try your suggestions.

Questions on getting tracers mod to work
Beltfed replied to Beltfed's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Bumping, still can't see tracers in game. Also installed the mod for more realistic bullet drop, not sure how I'd know if it is working or not though. Thanks for any help, I really like this sim! -
How can i see where a weapon's rof is coded?
Beltfed posted a topic in ARMA : CONFIGS AND SCRIPTING (addons)
Maybe is the wrong forum, but can someone tell me which file I'd need to look in to see the data on the AK-74, for example? Its rate of fire and other data for the game? Thanks, curious Beltfed -

Great, thanks! Ok yeah I used that config viewer which seemed to do the trick. Is there anywhere I can find a description of what those variables I'm looking at do? I looked at the AK-74 under CfgWeapons and I couldn't find its ROF on automatic. Doesn't mean it's not in there of course, I just couldn't decipher it, Beltfed -
