Operation reality: the middle east c2 - coming 200
Bob.Dob posted a topic in ARMA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
The Operation Reality Community is pleased to announce the arrival of our 2nd official ArmA campaign coming in the new year 08: The Middle East campaign. Unlike the 1st campaign which took place on regular temperate wooded terrain Sahrani map, this time our troops will be deployed to the rugged urban and desert theater of the Middle East. Interesting multi layered custom missions (coop and pvp) are being developed, tweaked, and finalized by our mission builders as we speak and many new features and customizations are being implemented and proposed. Custom Add-Ons will also be a big part of personalizing the coming campaign for all our players. New Features such as the ability to play as your own nationality, and have the skins, weapons, vehicles and unit structures to reflect such real life national regimental organizations will be encouraged, facilitated and implemented. The goal is to place a much emphasis as possible on such custom details to help each individual player a unique personal feeling and reflect most modern realistic multinational military coalitions seen in real world operational theaters today. Custom operation mission maps, custom training maps and basic/advanced training courses for all levels of players will be available and required. VOIP comms will also be realistic and structured to give the radio comms the most efficiency and realistic feeling possible so the players enjoy the more personal role playing aspects of battle. Regular weekly trainings and strategic/tactical prep recon sessions will also as normal be high on the agenda. Please come over to http://operationreality.org and sign up for the ArmA division today. Hope to see some of you in 2008! Kind regards, / http://operationreality.org -
Re Arma: you can transfer over the whole \ArmA\ game directory basically Re BF2: I think you get seperate bf2 server files to up and run alongside some sort of bf2 admin daemon tool

Small Update Operation Urgent Fury is now fully complete after 2 separate replay sessions which were required to complete all objectives. The mission was a clear success from our squads point of view and we're looking forward to the next operation of C2:Phase2 in the coming weeks. Some video footage of the 1st pass at the Op and some video of the 2nd pass (I will update this post with the link when the video is uploaded). Stay tunned for information and press releases on the next operation. NOTE: We are still currently accepting new recruit applications but slots are limited so only the best applicants will make the special forces cut. Good luck and hope to see some of you on the battlefield. Regards, ORC -
If you're looking for on going storyline based coop campaigns you might want to check out the Operation Reality Community at http://operationreality.org Not all applicants are necessarily accepted but if you seek to apply as a preformed unit with "x" amount of players you might have a good chance at getting accepted to operate as a preformed unit alongside Operation Reality's in house special forces teams. Either way, whether individually or in a group, feel free to post an application to join the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment if you think you've got what it takes. Kind regards, B.D

Going to download and try this out. Been looking for a decent alternative to FDF and/or HiFi for a while now. This sounds good.

Some more updates for the ArmA community from your friends at Operation Reality. We're pleased to announce completion of phase 1 of campaign 2. Phase 2 is now upon us. *Stay Tuned* New ORC ArmA C2 Middle East mod pack to be released in coming days. ********************************************************************************* FROM: HIGH COMMAND SUBJECT: CAMPAIGN 2 - PHASE 2 BEGINS TO: SECURITY LEVEL - A0 - PUBLIC ********************************************************************************* BENELUX HQ, May 12, 2008 - Congratulations 1st SFOD-D, 160th SOAR and the Pathfinders on a successful 4 month operational tour of Shakaka, Saudi Arabia. We can confirm all phase 1 operations were a success. Phase 2 is now before us and we are expecting all the units to prep and be on high alert standby as you're all being shipped out to the Iranian frontier effective immediately. So pack your kit and report for lock & load. Good luck soldiers. / J.S.O.C. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Quick sneak peak video of our special forces detachment being re-deployed to the Iranian border. This is where we'll be operating out of for the coming couple months. VIDEO: http://operationreality.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2171 Applications are currently open. However they are limited and require dedication and skill. Feel free to try out if you think you've got what it takes. Hope to be seeing some of you around. Kind regards, http://operationreality.org -
Loads of the guys over at Operation Reality have been having similar disconnect/kick problems with BattleEye as others have expressed in this thread. These go way back and across multiple BE versions it would seem. When you added FRAPS and such apps to the block list you convinced us to just disable BattleEye on our servers once and for all. We've been having no more random disconnect or faulty detection issues since and the servers actually seem to run smoother. People join and leave without causing as much lag etc. Seems like this BattleEye is a W.I.P. We'll probably re-activate at a future point if these random problems are fixed. Good luck with your development.

I assume you're talking Kbytes and not Kbits. BTW have you OC'd to 400mhz FSB or are you stuck @ 333mhz and using multipliers? Anyways it should be doable but 16 players might be pushing it (it really depends how hardware intensive and complex the missions you run will be). If the missions are very complex and somewhat bloated, you might need to think about sticking another GB of memory in and even maybe trying to OC the CPU some more if it can take it and stay stable. Even with such small 'upgrades' you'd still probably want to think about sticking to 8-12 players at the very max depending on mission. Your biggest problem is probably your slow upstream. It might become a serious problem at times once you get more then 8-10 players on. Either way just give it a try and you'll find out! GL

Operation Reality also holds PvP scrim sessions and has PvP maps available on our pub server also.

Couple community updates I forgot to post up here but figured better late then never. http://operationreality.org The Press Box: http://operationreality.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5 Essentially Campaign 2 Mission 4 is the final operation of C2 phase 1 and will take place on Shakakah. Codenamed: operation trail dust. C2 Phase 2 is under development and will take the 1st SFOD-D, 160th SOAR and the SAS/Pathfinders to the Iran/Iraq border for further special operations. We also be using Nimitz air craft carrier support for special forces projection into the Iran/Iraq field. Operation Reality Community (http://operationreality.org) also has quite a few ex/current forces members. They usually fit it in real well to the gaming style we promote and often make some of the best players due to their prior knowledge/experience in real life.

Anyone have a link to Raven's version then? I can only find that "beta" which apparently does not include it on armaholic. Thx
-
Yeah I beleive I was there too! Was quite a good fun! Anyways to answer the question in the posters title basically you'll need to sign up for a clan, community, tournament or something to get regular cohesive large scale matches as the other guys have suggested. We also run weekly campaigns and trainings over at http://operationreality.org Feel free to try out if you think you've got what it takes.
-
We don't quite run 100+ player games yet but we usually strive for the 30-50 mark to keep things cohesive, team orientated and to keep the comms realistic and organized. Feel free to check us out at http://operationreality.org

// == comment out line Make sure it's uncommented. Although you might already know that.

So to this date there is still no 'official' fast rope add on release for ArmA? Or is this link here to Raven's from that Argentinian clan actually the only working option? It seems to be the same video no? http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=2240&highlight=raven Or is Sakura-chan making one on his own (that he's not released yet) and Raven making a seperate one on his own (that he's released in beta) ? I'm a little confused where to look for a proper / working fast rope addon. Please advise.

We've had nothing but trouble with squadserver, not to mention they refuse to refund us despite having not provided any of the service we paid for. So be careful with these guys or they might rob you from behind the internet also.

Operation reality: the middle east c2 - coming 200
Bob.Dob replied to Bob.Dob's topic in ARMA - SQUADS AND FANPAGES
1) Yes we play in 1st Person. (3rd is usually only used for fraps and for the lack of in game peripheral vision for some trainings) 2) We use either respawn (with time delay) or revive scripts. Usually respawn only though when it comes to official operations. When you respawn you await the order from command on what to do before re-entering the field to regroup with your fireteam. We maintain controlled comms. So yes it can take a long time sometimes. Our number one policy is 0 deaths. 3) We usually are equipped with some sort of side arms but trust me, if you're down to using your side arms in one of our active assault op's you're as good as dead anyways unless you stay well ghost. We do not allow hackers though if that's what you're asking. Hope that answers some of you queries -
