Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
B-C replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
It’s quite daunting reading all these posts trying to work out a system that will run A2 at reasonable level. I was hoping it would be a simple task after all the dramas with A1. Doesn’t seem to be that way at the moment. I remembered back from an old post in 2008 by Maruk and the system he used for reviewing A2. My idea is that surely the CEO would run a system that played A2 at a decent level, hopefully at medium/high settings with a decent frame rate. His system was: Core2Duo 6750 2.66 GHz GF8800GT/512 2 GB RAM http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=69154&highlight=gold+old After reading this thread I’m left wondering did the above system actually performed well or was it just used for screenshots. -
Man that sucks! I think out of these troublesome times we might see a huge shift in how things are done. I wouldn't be surprised at all if most games only became available through download in the future. It wouldnt bother me to much as long as it was at a discounted rate. In any case I wouldn't worry to much about A2 as it will always be available through download.

Thanks for the tip, however i decided to re-install windows as well as a HDD format as a little clean out. Now Arma in window mode works AWESOME!. Just installed the news drivers and 1.09b. Not sure what was the cause of the problem in the last 9 months! I got a feeling it was an issue with old video drivers conflicting with new ones (if that is possible) Now i can turn all settings to normal and AA on very high. I get 30 FPS in the fields and down to 15FPS in cities with heavy combat. Anyone else have any guesses on why its now working perfect? Havent monitored memory yet to see if there is a reduction in usage since the format. I will buy some more ram... was going to upgrade to 4GB

No version works for me, I experience critical problems in all of them: Computer system Intel Core Duo 2 1.8 GHZ (800MHZ bus speed) 2x 512MB = 1GB DDR2 Ram 800MHZ Video Card: Asus 7600GT, 256MB DDR2 video RAM, 128bit (latest drivers) Motherboard: Asus P5N-E SLI HDD Western Dig 320MB SATA 16MB Cache 550W powersupply. 22inch Asus monitor 2ms response time Tried almost every hint and tip. Crashes after 10 mins about 60% of the time. Been watching system monitors... FRAPS reports good frame rates of an average of 25 or above maybe a little lower in cities. Also been using Nvida monitor.. i noticed ram goes up to 99% (not sure if this is VRAM or normal RAM) If a play in window mode of 1024x768 and adjust some of the ingame graphics settings i get this down to a steady 70% but game still crashes. Tried things such as window mode... maxmem 512, 256. Tried adjusting all settings in ingame graphics. Tried most tips.. cant remember them all. Other things that i have noticed is that i have been playing the game and has been going good for 30 mins with a frame rate of about 30 and all of a sudden drop to 8-10 FPS and then crash. I have noticed that after a crash about 50% of the time when go in to desktop properties i can only choose lower screen resolutions... not sure why this is... my guess is that the ingame crash has disable or created errors so that my screen either doesnt register or some other error. Looking through error reports it always looks like it some video card error as i see Nvidia .dll files in the error report. Notice some slow loading graphics... usually in cut scenes i get soldiers that start of as blocks and graphics build on them over a second. No other graphic problems apart from at times of starting game guns have a permanent muzzle flash. If you need error reports let me know and ill get them

Not trying to make people upset out there but im just disappointed in BIS. I know a lot people out there have there ArmA working but there are still quite a few of us who have constant troubles with ArmA. Its disappointing to see that more effort is being put into making addons and new verions of ArmA like ArmA 2 then actually fixing the current game. I know BIS has to make money but still there has been no explanation to why ArmA has so many problems. I would be actually happy to hear BIS say 'sorry to those who are having trouble with ArmA but we just cant work out why some people are still having problems and thats why there are still people out there having problems' Im not saying the above statement is true, all im saying is i wish there was some honesty or at least some explaination. If they cant explain it then they should say they have no clue rather then just leaving a number of people being upset whilst continuing on to make new verions of ArmA I also can understand that they have worked hard in trying to fix the problems (and that some problems are to do with V.card drivers etc) however if there is no explanation in why people are still have problems then it just gets exhausting downloading he newest patch and getting excited at the fact they may has fixed it and then being disappointed once again. Im going to be weary in purchasing ArmA 2. I will be waiting to see if it actually works! before i go an buy it. If its the same old story like it has been with ArmA that in having above the minimum specs and not working properly then i wont buy it!

CreateIndexBuffer failed (8876017c) Problem

You have to right click on the desktop icon (arma icon) and then click properties and it will have a line which says target. add it to the end of what already written there -
CreateIndexBuffer failed (8876017c) Problem
B-C replied to Gremlin0790's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi Macguba, You will need to look at your MB instruction manual in setting AGP apetures. Its in your bios so maybe bios settings in your MB manual. For me i have a PCI card and cant change it so im left with a little fix that i found works for me until they fix it. What i do is i run my game in windowed mode and use Nvidas monitor to watch the percentage of graphics card memory used. if it gets above 94% i just change the Post Processing to high and it decreases it to 90% when it gets to 94% again i change it back to low and keep going with this method. Dont ask me why increasing PP from low to high makes it run better for a little while... seems wierd to me!!!!! but at least i can play for hours now!!!! -

CreateIndexBuffer failed (8876017c) Problem
B-C replied to Gremlin0790's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi pchaxor, Yeah i have used several drivers now. I have used the one before 94.2 or whatever it is and i have also used 158 from 3d guru (which is not a 7*** series driver. I have also tried everything else: changing graphic settings forcing off recommend settings such as v.snyc etc page file cant remember half the stuff but i can assure you if its written in this forum i have done it! i have no other problems except fps going from a stable 30 to 5 and then CTD. As you said its a V-ram issue that needs to be fixed. thanks for your help. maybe they will have a fix around time lol at version 3.9 lol ....peace! -
CreateIndexBuffer failed (8876017c) Problem
B-C replied to Gremlin0790's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thanks pchaxor, however when i tried to flush it made my game CTD anyway lol. Thought they made this to help prevent CTD but all it did was make it CTD faster I wish i could play online without this CTD crap. Last time it CTD it changed my monitor display to 680x480 or whatever it is. Couldnt change it back to my native 22inch monitor resolution, had to restart the computer. Anyone worked out a solution. My PC spec are listed up higher on this page. -

Anyone had this issue and resolved it? In addition to what i said above i have been monitoring FPS and it seems to be ok with a rate of 20-25fps but after about 10mins of playing FPS become unstable and jump from 25fps to 9-10fps then back up to 20fps then shortly CTD.
