ArmA II / OA Installation problems
BrunoDerRabe replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi Zipper5, may I ask you a question please. As I usualy also use two Steam accounts, I had to realize that I have to be logged into that account wich contains ARMA2 etc. ( that blocks for me the usage of my other steamgames on that acount - ARMA2 etc. included) on some other gaming PCs in the house, as soon as I just want to use the dedicated ARMA2 OA Steam server ... there is a trick wich I don´t like ( and the game tends to crash / wich it usualy does not ) ... logging into 2nd acount and starting the server.exe manualy - is there no way for steam to UNLOCK the server ( just the dedicated server not the game for another acccount?/ the files are there in the Steamfolder anyway) ...there is some 5MBit upload to be used at my end, hosting is my pleasure. Allso copy and paste of the whole gamefolder (from DVD instalation) to a second PC to run as a server is no good anymore. If on the other machine ArmA2 etc. has been used via a steam account you receive an error messeage -ArmA 2 OA error window: Failed to load file "baf\addons\air_d_baf.pbo" -decryption of headers failed It would be perfect if these 2 installations would cope with each other, instead of damaging each other ( read my post above please) -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems

there are a few choices you have: https://support.securom.com/removaltool.html Thats what I did after getting this securom error ( guess it happened at my end because of a broken Installation/ checking out at the moment how a Steam Installation of ARMA2&ARMA2 OA&BAF corrupts a preinstalled disc installation of ARMA2&ARMA2 OA&BAF) have two bunches of them/ 3 PCs so it makes sense: DEVELOPERS please test this !!!! I did read something here about better autodetection, but there is another Problem, DISC and STEAM instalation harm each other .... me spending already 3 days and nights on this issue ( including uninstall of both , reinstalling in different orders etc things getting worse if you try to configure a dedicated server there the incompability/inaccessibility starts best you use a systemrestorepoint and delete all profiles under your useraccount:application data or my documents [differs between Vista (for example C:\Users\Admin\Documents C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local ) and W7 delete everything you find about ARMA2 I did use system restorepoint and the rest in this order 1. ARMA2 2. ARMA2 Patch 1.08 in one piece 3. ARMA2 OA from Disc [ Version: 1.51.71083 ] 4. ARMA2 OA Patch 1.55 5. BAF DLC from Sprocket btw BAF needs a higher patchlevel of OA than the one from the disc ARMA2 OA comes with Patch 1.06 onboard on the disc.... but the above order worked for me best -

ArmA II / OA Installation problems
BrunoDerRabe replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
At my end it was a driverproblem and also different RAM did help. I did use the Windows built in Memory Diagnostics to narrow down the source. Before this I wasn´t aware that the PC had a problem at all. Reducing RAM speed from 800MHZ to 667MHz helped too. At the end of the day I did swap RAM with other PC´s RAM. By the way the RAM wasn´t faulty. It was just a mismatch RAM/motherboard. -
ArmA II / OA Installation problems
BrunoDerRabe replied to ShadeCrenshaw's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
On one PC with an Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard and Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 on a SATA HDD I had to install the latest Intel® Matrix Storage Manager Driver V8.9.0.1023 for Windows XP_Vista_7 3264bit (Asus Support) to solve the intallation problems for ArmA2 and OA. Other 2 PC`s were easy. Without these update also the patches didn´t work, and installation of ArmA2 and/or OA was a more a lottery than anything else. Also an 6 years old MSI EIDE DVD RW did´t do any good, so I did add and use a more uptodate SATA DVD RW from LG. Just in case I also reduced the RAM from 4 to 2 GB just for the installation. I got quite desperate, lol. But now it is fixed here. Hope that helps a wee bit. -

probably you are right, only difference I do see in the benchmark with the GTX260 dedicated for physics, the action (firefights) in the OA 08 Benchmark start earlier, so you do see most of it .... and not when the camera is turning away strange, isn`t it? The memory usage (private workingset) doesn´t exceed here 1.075.372K with the settings above. With visibility 10000 memory usage rise but the game is still running rock stable. Checked out different settings of visibility / with always highest avaible details ( did run each at least for 20 minutes or longer). No issue like yours on this machine. Just once while TAB in TAB out to watch the memory usage the game wasn´t accesible anymore, memory usage was about 1.300.000k .... Tried very hard to reproduce this ``hang``, but no luck ( or better I am lucky that I couldn´t manage) - but the game never used that amount of memory later again - always stayed around 1.200.000K . I recommend you first to undo the OC. Run the CPU with standard settings @ 2833 MHz(myself very familiar with OC). @ BIS: YOU ARE THE REAL CODEMASTERS _________________________________ Using Vista or Windows 7 you might need to change the compability setting in the files properties (right click on the file opens context menue ) for the BETA ArmA2.exe (file location: *:\*\ArmA 2\beta) to run it always as administrator. If you fail to do this and you start the game via the BETA Shortcut ( you will find it in the game mainfolder ), you might still run the standard 1.04 patched version of the game. If you don´t see the version number *59928 when you start the game you are NOT running the latest Beta Patch and you can´t judge on it. Result would be wrong info for the lads working on this issue. Thanks for your support. I will add the -2047 to the startup, the pagefile is limited to 8GB, can change this too. The server did run a Superpowers game with the old settings for more than 22hours, no issues. But I will try your suggestions. Thank you. On the partition for the swapfile there are more than 40GB avaible. -
8GB on Windows7 RC1 NVIDEA 190.38 2 260GTX in SLI AMD PhenomII 940BE @ 3.0Ghz were used for the test Hi Suma, on my testsystem the 190.38 driver is not the cure for the 8GB issue. After reading your post I did upgrade the testsystem once more to 8GB RAM, with the hope I could CONFIRM that the issue seems to be gone with nVidia 190.38 drivers. But unfortunately it isn´t like that on my testsystem. At the Moment I´m setting the amount of RAM in the msconfig to 7680MB. The two last lines of the arma.cfg before changing the amount of RAM in the msconfig to 7680MB: localVRAM=4911104; nonlocalVRAM=4911104 The two last lines of the arma.cfg after changing the amount of RAM in the msconfig to 7680MB: localVRAM=2085285888; nonlocalVRAM=2085285888; Greetings, Bruno ArmA2.cfg: language="German"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=93750; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1200; refresh=60; Render_W=2400; Render_H=1500; FSAA=4; postFX=3; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=2085285888; nonlocalVRAM=2085285888; ---------- Post added at 09:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:20 PM ---------- Hi frag85, you are not running 8GB RAM, your post seems to be off topic for me. Nevertheless I would like to help you. After doing so you might smile about your post and maybe about youself. Greetings, Bruno ... setting the RAM in the advanced startup settings of the msconfig to the value of 7680MB - bringing the best results, as it is confirmed by other forumusers. Why not using this workaround for now? As a reminder, if you change the value of the RAM in your msconfig to 7680MB, don´t have a look in the msconfig after the restart, use the taskmanager instead. Check the total amount of total physical memory there. It might be around 6655MB, wich is O.K. . Using the NVIDIA 186.18 or 190.38 driver with altering the amount of RAM to 7680MB in the msconfig solves the problem and will give you best results in level of details and performance using 8GB RAM. ---------- Post added at 10:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 PM ---------- With a 64 Bit Version of Vista it could. msconfig 4096MB = shows after reboot 3071MB in the taskmanager detected localVRAM=924581888 msconfig 7680MB = shows after reboot 6835MB in the taskmanager detected localVRAM=2117459969 The detected an USED localVRAM (local video RAM / perhaps extended with some amount of the system RAM ) will be increased. One bottleneck of the usage might be also the narrow 256 Bit memorybus of your ATI 4890. Greetings, Bruno ---------- Post added at 10:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:22 PM ---------- Hi SimonJames, you are not running 8GB RAM, your post seems for me to be off topic too. But certainly I would like to solve your problem. In your case the detected VRAM is O.K.. First I ask you to run your overclocked Core i7 920@3.5GHz at its native speed @2,666GHz. This needs to be done with your RAM or whatever is overclockeded too. Check again and if you still having issues please contact me. Greetings, Bruno ---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:34 PM ---------- Hi Revelate, you can use the amount of 7680MB ( may be a wee bit less/7424MB for example - which is best depends on the chipset too ) stop moaning, start playing the game and you will probably be able to do your business and run your 4 or 5 Virtual Machines. Following Quote is edited by me ( driverversions ): I got feedback by some forumusers during the last weeks that for some motherboards the amount of 7424MB is the better choice (OS/chipsets/drivers).
