I totally agree with you. I also agree with Frederf's points. A few of us tried to bring up the point about the A-10 turning and stalling out and the crowd just jumped all over us. I would also rather see fixed wings removed from the game than the poor state they are in right now.

1.07 Cannot create system memory
bobby budnick replied to Flasher444's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I am using patch 1.07 beta fix on two gaming systems. I have 2GB @ 500 with San Diego @ 2.75 and a 6800 Ultra. I also get this problem after 3+ hours even with maxmem=512 with viewdistance at 3000/textures medium. Using maxmem=512 with view distance at default/textures medium it never crashes. My identical system (just with a toledo @ 2.75 and 7900 GT) is pretty much the same way. I just haven't got it to crash with maxmem=512 with view distance at 3000/textures medium yet. -
That's just it though. The real A-10 does not have to "get some speed". It's job is to provide ground support by flying low and slow. The A-10 in game just falls out of the sky when doing those maneuvers. Play Lock-on: Modern Air Combat for an example of how it should be able to fly. Right now, the Harrier can turn much tighter is and actually better suited for these types of missions. The A-10 is only good for standing off firing mavericks or doing strafing runs. It is very difficult to stay "on station" with it.

Forceware 160.02 + 8800 + ARMA nice combo
bobby budnick replied to mac_4ps's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Not so long ago, Athlon 64's used to be the best CPU around. They are still good in games, even Arma. I am a big fan. With that said, you might want to pick the Core2 this time around because: 1. AM2 Athlon 64s use DDR2 and with the extra latency IMO they are not as good as their 939 counterparts with DDR. 2. There is not as much of an aftermarket for the AM2s, in terms of motherboard selection and performance parts. 2. The core duo can probably overclock farther than the Athlon 64. -

I would like to agree with the above points. In reality, A-10's have a very tight turning radius and aren't as likely to stall with their large wings. At air shows, several times I have seen them turning circles over the air field to demonstrate their ability to support troops easily. The A-10 in game flies like a rock.

I copied over all the folders from my installed version of Arma with the 1.07 beta folder and tried to run using this line: Am I doing something wrong? I also have the Atari download version and get a problem very similar to this. Only it tells me I need 'CAPlants'. If I copy plants.pbo from the original addons to the beta addons I get the error he is describing. Even after copying roads.pbo and all others that it asks for the dedicated server will start without erroring, but will not load any maps. The normal 1.07 beta client works fine. Additional Information: I have fully uninstalled and then reinstalled and reupdated the game but I get the same problem. I don't get any errors during the install or update. In another thread, someone said that the readme for the patch mentioned the download version does not work. I can find no such mention in the readme. However, in the community download page it says don't apply the patch to a download version if you are worried about activations. I am not worried about activations, I just want to get the dedicated 1.07 beta server working. So if anyone can post that does have the 1.07 beta server working, particularly with the download version, that would be great. Thanks for any help.

Problem Solved!!! I am so happy right now. This has been such a battle. It's 4:25 AM and I have been working hard on this for a while. A little background: I was using monowall up until to this point. It is a great firewall, but it is clear it is targeted more for businesses and professionals. Not so much gamers. I just tried the live cd of a fork of monowall called pfsense and after researching for a while I found a few gaming related posts in their forums. It turns out I needed a feature in pfsense called static ports. Static ports (as opposed to dynamic ones) send out udp and tcp on the same port as they are supposed to be received. Most firewalls/routers intentionally obscure the sending port for security. This was causing problems for the dedicated server and gamespy apparently. So I am sticking with pfsense for now and crosssing my fingers that it keeps working. So....come join the Camp Anawanna dedicated server now that it should be off of the bottom of the server list

I have port 1562 forwarded tcp and udp. If no one here knows, I suppose I will go to the official forums for my router and see what they have to say. Edit: Also curious are the 'admin prohibited filter' entries.

Same problem here. I'm sure it's heavily affecting traffic to my server because most of the time it seems to appear on the very bottom of the list. I have forwarded every port imaginable and it still doesn't work. Worse, gamespy's website and google return very little useful information. Soon, I am going to try the DMZ feature on my router but for me it's not as easy as just entering an IP into a home router.

1.07 Dedicated Server Trouble
bobby budnick replied to bobby budnick's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
edit again: IT WORKS!!! Thank you all. I don't know if I have ever had to do that before. I am not the Windows master I once was. -
I'm going to re-post here because my original question got lost in the huge thread about the patch with lots of conversation. This is a really serious problem for me. The normal game client works fine.

Helicoptors bugged after repair in MP
bobby budnick replied to Fiddlestx's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Sometimes the occupants of the chopper see it as working but people outside see it as destroyed/not running therefore they cannot board it. It happens to me a lot. -
EDIT: Our questions have been answered. Thanks so much.
