It works great, you can assign hotkeys so it wont conflict with TS ventrillo etc.. Frostwyrm, it only repeats what hes saying because the voice is only activating keystrokes on the keyboard so you would hear the voices even if you were pressing the buttons on the keyboard, if it looks dumb and slow then thats Armas fault. I also use similar programs for flight simulators and they're a godsend.

Is it possible to import terrain meshes into armed assault and layer them with tiles from Google Earth? The reason I ask is I have been doing this in flightsimX in realtime using a program called Tileproxy which works in the background with FSX and grabs the files from google earth then stores them on your HDD so that everytime you fly you get nice sharp photoreal images layered onto the terrain, add a high detailed mesh to this and the results are stunning. Now I know that this isnt something that would be easy to do in arma or even possible as the placement of the landscape tiles would have to be done manually but I noticed someone did the Iran Iraq borders using google earth data and it got me wondering. I have lots of meshes for FSX which have been taken from STRM data but they are in .BGL format and I couldnt get them to load into the wilbur program that Arma uses for terrain could they be converted?. I have a good 10m mesh for Hawaii which looks amazing in FSX and I have a 19m Mesh for Gran canaria which is also superb and I cant help but look down in FSX when flying over Gran canaria thinking how good it would be if this was Armed assault and I could just launch a rocket. Heres some video of me flying around some of the locations with high detail meshes using google earth tiles. http://s175.photobucket.com/albums....orn.flv http://www.stage6.com/user/Bramski/video/1286983/Surfing-Saint-Helens http://www.stage6.com/user....h-speed

Arma sucks on so many levels its not even funny, performance is a joke, even on high end hardware, stock sounds are crap, control interface is clunky, team AI is dumb, enemy AI is super duper, no aircraft/rotorcraft avionics etc.. etc.. But join up with a mature tactical thinking Arma squad and all the niggly bugs and flaws will pale in significance when you're moving through a city together like a pack of wolves. I love this game and it will only get better given time and updates, not to mention future conversions and addons. Out the box Arma's not for everyone but give it time and play it with a bunch of likeminded individuals and it turns into one of the best gaming experiences you can hope to have.

Including those who haven't purchased the game maybe?

Man the addition of the A10 would be absolutely marvelous...
-
Heres a scary thought.. what if this is as good as it gets, what if no amount of patching yields any performance gains and it's left down to the mercy of brute force and hardware price drops before we can get the most out of Arma. That would suck eh?

Go into the Arma newview config, select additional settings, then miscellaneous, then tick Direct keyboard Scan(LockOnMode) Apply and you're all set.

I don't have the first clue about mods and addons so I don't know if this is possible but I would love it if someone could make something with Avionics and FM similar to the A10 or the Su-25t in Lock-on for Armed Assault. Is this do-able in Arma?

Try upping it to Youtube or something as that download link is extremely slow.

I'm not saying those links are all to do with dual core patches, it was just a simple google search to illustrate that Dual core patches can and have been released for games previously. I understand that it's not just a case of the developers writing a few lines of code and voila! Dual core fast lovelyness. But it's very possible and totally feasable that BIS would dedicate the worktime needed to make dual core optimisations, especially with their VBS2 running on the same engine as Arma and due out for release very soon.

A simple google search tells me that your wrong KillaALF. Theres been many games patched to take advantage of Dual core processors. Linkage

Make sure you have assigned keys for the Helmet function in the buttons section of Newview Max, this is basically just an on/off function. In the Helmet setup section of Newview make sure you have the settings the same as the pic below, you can mess about with response curves and deadzone to suite your own needs. In Cam2Pan it's a good idea to set up a hotkey to reset centre view, you'll rarely need it but sometimes when you fire everything up and you switch to helmet mode you're pilot/soldier will sometimes be looking to the extreme left or right, resetting the centre in Arma just pans round and snaps back, it's Cam2pan that needs to be reset to centre to fix this and having a hotkey saves having to alt-tab out.

Theres 1 tweak that will enhance your Arma experience a lot and that is disabling your FPS counter. You wont gain a single frame per second by doing this but what will happen is that you will actually start playing the game instead of always checking the FPS meter to see how well your machine is performing.

You can go nod in the demo, just hold the N key whilst selcting NOD. You can adjust the gameplay style and difficulty as well by holding T for turtle, B for balanced etc..

Thanks for this post mate. I thought my newview settings were good before but now with these settings it's practically pixel perfect. Cheers.

Arma Keymapping for Saitek X52 Pro
Bram replied to DieAngel's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just install the keyboard and mouse emulator drivers on the x52 pr0 disk and it works a treat, for me anyways. -
I just have the webcam on top of my monitor pointing at my face. I use a baseball cap with a small LED light on it to improve the tracking but it also works perfectly well with a piece of white paper on the hat as long as the lighting and contrast is adjusted.

Im loving the helos in 1.05 I'm using an X52 and after about an hour on each helo I can throw them about no problems and land on a postage stamp.

Totally agree with you mate. It's no wonder why more and more developers are abandoning the PC as a gaming platform and moving over to the consoles. With the consoles you only have to refine your software to work with a very specific hardware configuration, with the PC you have an almost infinite number of hardware configurations so it's only obvious that there's gonna be problems. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the community shouldn't be vocal about issues regarding obvious flaws and faults within the software, but judging by some of the post I've read recently, some people would benefit from taking a breather and reading over their rants before they hit that new post button. I'm happy with Arma at the moment, it runs like a dog in places and I know my machine should be pushing it better than it is, but I'm 100% certain that BIS will get this baby running like it should in no time.

I use a cheap 7.99 webcam with cam2pan/newview and it works exactly like TrackIR. It tracks my head movements flawlessly and is smooth as glass and has never lost centre in any games I use it with even if I leave the PC and come back the tracking is still calibrated, it works that well. The main down side is that it uses a considerable amount of CPU resources compared to TrackIR so it can present problems to people using lower and machines. I use a dual core CPU so it doesn't effect my performance in games. Here's how it looks in Arma using Cam2pan and a cheapo webcam (not my vid but performs just the same)

I'd drop the E6600 and pick up an E4300 or E6300 instead and put the cash you saved towards a better Graphics card. I've got a E4300 running at 2.5Ghz on stock air and volts.
