You're basing this on the either the on a poorly lighted pre-alpha model, but even then it doesnt take a genius to figure out that those are for heads up displays and not meant to have any "opening" as you put it.
-
Seriously, why in God's name would you not even THINK that these are LENSES??

Anyone noticed that these Iranian Ghost Recon operatives seem to have no body armor? www.armaholic.com/datas/users/pic2_16471.jpg Guess the more things change, the more they stay the same. :D
-
So any chance of the actual Presentation video being uploaded so we dont have to see it through someone else's camera? Or is the footage still too "Alpha" for us to look at directly?
-
I don't know if I want Bohemia going all "mainstream" on us with huge stage shows an' stuff.
-
Soo... what are the chances that Bohemia will get some mainstream t.v. face time from gaming shows/channels such as G4 or Spike T.V.?

Anyone feel that helicopter crashes could be in anyway more realistic in ARMA 3? I for one think you should be able to have better chances of surviving a helicopter crash than you do now in ARMA 2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there is any chance to be inside a crashed helo and still be alive in ARMA 2 is there? Is it even possible to make a hard, yet survivable crash landing right now?

Improvements to the way helicopters crash?
BF2_Trooper replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I did some experiments in the editor by flying the Blackhawk and shutting the engine off at 600 feet. It seems as long as the engines are off when your wheels touch the ground (even at slow speeds) you would instantly explode. The only time I made a "safe" landing, was when I autohovered at 600+ feet, shut the engine off, and made sure I didnt tilt the blackhawk in anyway. Even when the helicopter hit the ground softly in one piece, it still was damaged enough that it was unusable. -
I don't know if my situation last night was a memory leak or a case of my gfx card overheating. But this never happened before. I was playing an online coop mission with a friend when my computer just froze but I could still here the sound effects. I did hard reboot, we restarted the mission, and then a few minutes into the game I froze again. Restarted, tried the mission again, and then I froze again at about 15 minutes into the mission. The map we were playing in was Chernarus. When I did freeze, my friend who was hosting the mission noticed that I suddenlly disconnected both from the game and from STEAM. I have 4gb of ram and a 9800 GTX 512mb video card.

ArmA II:CO Stops every 5-10minutes for about 10-15 seconds.
BF2_Trooper replied to FelixK44's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I froze 3 times today whilst playing a custom COOP mission with a friend. The first two times was about less than 5 minutes into the game, the third time I froze was 15 -20 minutes into the game. For me, the freezes take more than two minutes so I have to do a hard reboot. My specs: WIN XP SP3 Core 2 Duo e6600 Nvidia 9800GTX+ 270.61 driver 4GB RAM -

Well that was a colossal waste of time. No matter what I do, these new drivers just Will Not Install, and it seems I'm not the only one - http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=201818&st=0 -
Yeah, but I just don't understand this hard-on for being on the side of the low tech underdogs. I mean, I sort of get it and all, but there are challenges to being an apache pilot trying not to get RPG'd and distinguishing between enemys and civilian/friendly units on the ground. Just because your side has the money and the guns does not automatically make you the "bad guy".
-
Do you guys want to play a realistic version of Battlefield or do you want to play Fallout 3 set in the modern world? Lone underdog survivor scavinging weapons? Why even bother having tanks and helicopters, let alone be able to drive them. No disrespect guys, but it certainly sounds like you're playing the wrong game. It boggles the mind that one day people in these forums are complaining about lack of realism, and the next day they're demanding a campaing in which Hollywood style underdog heroes win the day against an overwhelmingly high tech enemy. Newsflash people, in the real world the underdogs havent exaclty been the good guys lately, and even then, it seems very unlikely that they can fight effectively even against Regular third world armies. Look at the Lybian rebels for example. They're only barely surviving because of assitance from NATO assets. I don't know about the rest of you, but there certainly are challenges with being part of a high tech modern army and being out numbered by a low-tech irregular force. Don't get me wrong, I like games with a "survivalist" feel to them. Wouldnt even mind if the campaign was partly a survivalist game, but I don't think ArmA all about being the dirt poor sandle wearing insurgent. It is, and always has been a Regular armed force Infantry simulator. Now what would be more interesting for a "Survivalist" style scenario is if both sides are cut off from their main forces and are stuck in this island. Both sides have to scavange for whatever equipment, ammunition they're stuck with, and both sides are fighting purely for survival until they can find their way "home".

Guess we're back to straight up conventional war? What are the chances of any gurrella/militia forces being worked in the story?
-
Had a mission to "mark" a fuel dump for artillary, found the fuel dump, threw IR Strobe at it, nothing. Tried smoke grenades, still nothing.
-
I notice after accomplishing the first mission I'm given, the game tells me that I now have artillery support. I looked at the SUPPORT menu and there was nothing of the sort. Does a COMMANDER player have to be present for this to work? Also, will you add the USMC as playable units/vehicles in the next version of CFOR?

Team selection keys (SHIFT+Fkey) not functioning right.
BF2_Trooper posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I don't know what caused this to happen, but recently my ability to choose between teams (red, blue, etc.) does not work the way it should. For example, I have split my squad into two teams Red & Blue. Red consists of 2,3,4. Blue consists of 5,6,7,8. Now when I want to select Blue team by pressing SHIFT + F5, nothing happens. But if I pressed SHIFT + F2, then Blue team gets selected. It seems that if I want to specifically select Red Team, I have to select the entire squad first (command key) and then press SHIFT+F2 (or F3-4). But the problem with that is that if I had a third team (green for example), then pressing SHIFT+F2 also selects the third team. I could swear this never happened before, at least until the recent patch. -

So am I the only one thinking of a Battle Los Angeles/alien invasion themed DLC?? Except in this case it might be Battle: Seattle? -
Modern Day USMC vs. Aliens FTW!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-CRTqkDDf4 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Los_Angeles Finally, an alien invasion movie from the point of view of grunts, instead of a bunch of Entourage wanna brats! Yes, I'm looking at you SKYLINE! And said grunts arent going to betray their species to some giant alien chick.

Is something wrong with the Server list ever since 1.54/BAF?
BF2_Trooper posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Ever since 1.54, i've been noticing that more than half of the servers that show up either have the yellow dot or the red dot as their status. Even servers I usually go to don't show up with the green status. I am still able to join these servers with no problem but the list is confusing especially when you're setting the list order by pings. -
I never said that it didnt happen. Let me put it simply to you what I meant - NOBODY CARES.
-
Sorry to break it to you dude, but this aint the big news you're making yourself think it is. I havent heard a peep about this on any of the major news networks not even freakin Al Jazeera English! Perhaps maybe the rest of the world has moved on from their Bush derrangement syndrome. Amazing I know!

PMC Campaign cutscenes don't work in COOP.
BF2_Trooper posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So far, while playing the PMC campaign in COOP mode with a friend, I am not able to see any of the cutscenes except the one that takes place in the air field. Only my friend, who is the host, is able to see all the cutscenes. All I see are black screens and sometimes the subtitles of the dialogue going on in the cutscenes. -
ACM does not seem to work in Zagrabad...
BF2_Trooper posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
....or at least I don't seem to be noticing any ambient combat that is happening around me and my squad. I notice a lot of ambient combat happening if I were to create missions in Takistan - enemy Hueys, friendly A-10s making strafing runs, and even some CZ patrols. In Zagrabad, I don't even notice a single aircraft in the sky unless it's one I call from support. I'm currently using ACM along with SOM. And yes, I did synch ACM to SOM and ACM and SOM to the the player character. -
POLL: Should BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE develop for Mac OS too?
BF2_Trooper replied to R-A-M-B-O's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Actually it would be hiliarous to watch a die-hard mac user attempt to understand ARMA 2's interface! :D Anyone seen that video where a mac user cant figure out how to use STEAM and bitches about the interface?
