ARGH! Ok, it just froze on me again. I keep testing it on I'drang valley map because textures are most complex there. It keeps giving my the lockup without the blue screen like it has a lot of times before. I think I'm going to update VIA drivers. What will updating VIA drivers do? Should I set AGP Aperature back to 256? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!

Here's more: I searched my System information for "VIA" and found this in Conflicts/Sharing: I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 PCI bus I/O Port 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 Direct memory access controller I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF AMD-761 Processor to AGP Controller I/O Port 0x000003C0-0x000003DF NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 IRQ 10 NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 IRQ 10 Intel® PRO/100 S Desktop Adapter IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller IRQ 11 VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controller IRQ 11 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller IRQ 11 WinXP Promise FastTrak100 TX2/TX4 Controller Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF PCI bus Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF AMD-761 Processor to AGP Controller Memory Address 0xA0000-0xBFFFF NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB AMD-761 Processor to AGP Controller I/O Port 0x000003B0-0x000003BB NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 Memory Address 0xD4000000-0xDBFFFFFF AMD-761 Processor to AGP Controller Memory Address 0xD4000000-0xDBFFFFFF NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 Memory Address 0xDC000000-0xDDFFFFFF AMD-761 Processor to AGP Controller Memory Address 0xDC000000-0xDDFFFFFF NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500 By the way I also have Intel PRO/100s as my LAN card as you can see! -Benson

Also, what does AGP4x/2x/1x do? And if I have VIA chipset, would it hurt to update drivers anyway? And how do I find out if I have VIA chipset? My mobo is GA-7DX AMD 761 AGPset.

Hello everyone, This is my first post. For about a month and a half now OFP has been locking up, resulting in my pushing the reset button. I have WinXP Home. It used to lock up and give me the blue screen showing nv4_disp.dll as the culprit, and I think because I had recently downgraded my drivers because DetonatorXP's are terrible. But now there is no blue screen, it just locks up. Although, it still plays the "Hard-drive breaking" sound with all the snap, crackle, and pops. So I upgraded to newest Detonator's, and that did not solve the problem. (By the way, OFP has only locked on Everon, Jungle Everon, and the recently released I'drang valley. I do not have Resistance yet!!!) I think the problem had to do with texture complexity, I don't know. After I updated drivers I set AGP Aperature to 64 and left AGP at 4x. It seems to run fine. But it also seemed too easy. So my question is, what did I just do? I mean, what is AGP Aperature and why set it from 256 to 64? Will this work? Will there be an effect on performance and/or graphics quality? And I used to run OFP in 1600x1200x32, but now I run it in Autodetect (1024x768x32). Will I be able to change it back or alter any other OFP performance settings without it locking up again? Hopefully you can all answer my questions. Here is my comp: Athlon XP 1900 1gb PC2100 DDR RAM Geforce3 Ti500 SB Audigy Gamer Dual 60gb HDD's with RAID-0 connetion (I'm pretty sure it's 0, squential, combines them so they appear as one, cuts seek time in half, if 1 HDD crashes then I lose it all) 56x IDE Cdrom 24/10/40 Plextor RW WinXP Home Latest OFP and OFP MPTest (no Resistance yet, it's comin!!!) I think that's all I need to list. Thanks a lot folks. Bye! -Benson
