I just read about this mod in a newspaper. Is it worth buying BF1942 for? http://www.silentheroes.se/ The concept is based on a fictional clash between Norwegian and Swedish forces while NATO is busy elsewhere in the world (presumably IRAQ). OFP has both SFP 3.0 and Norwegian units so I guess it could be done for OFP as well. Pity you cant pitch Sweden vs Finland as well (both are RES), now that would be fun BM

Anyone thought of doing trackage and Trains for OFP? Some might find it off-base but many cool war-movies involves trains in one way or another (usually blowing up bridges and stuff). I realise it's a huge task but there is one benefit. There are two excellent train sims (Trainz and MSTS). Maybe someone could ask to borrow those models for OFP? I realise that Trainz 20.000 polygon models are extraordinariy for OFP.s uses but anyway . OFP can import GMAX models can it? Regarding Trainz btw. Jet2 is the most brilliant engine i've seen(check their webpage for info), I hope BIS takes a good look at it when choosing a engine for OFP2. Especially since it's specialty is modelling huge landscapes. BM

I consider JA and JA2 to be two of the best games I have ever played all categories (that's 18 years of gaming). I also liked UFO alot but JA was even better imo. Pity that Sir-Tech had such bad business management and couldn't market the game properly. Now it seems fans of turn based tactical games can get new hope with upcoming Silent Storm. I watched the trailer and read about the mod capabilities and was sceptical but after having seen the trailer i was blown away by the good graphics and general atmosphere. Stunned even. Even better, there's a demo out in 2 days . Article: http://www.gamershell.com/news_BSilentStormBDemoin2days.shtml Trailer http://www.gamershell.com/news_BSilentStormBtrailer2.shtml I know it's easy to buy into hype and become totally dissapointed but so far I have good feelings about this project. Pity that they had to choose Jowood as a publisher , they sort of suck at it. BM

Download working now. One of the best islands i've seen in a while (excluding Trinity of course). It has nothing to do with Basra in Iraq btw it was just a name they choose. Nice rolling hills and forests. BM

Done searching. No results here. I found this nice looking island on the ofp.info page but the link seems to be broken. Anyone know of alternative locations for this? BM
-
You got any more details than the 'nice island'? There are a number of desert islands, is the one you mean called MADAUSIraq? Primarily desert with a port representing Umm Qasar and a rough airstrip? dl here from ofpnews. This is the picture http://ofp.gamezone.cz/islands/screenshots/basra.jpg
-
What more details than "Basra" can I give since it's called Basra and is located on OFP.INFO. And since it's located on their "islands" I assumed it was finished so I don't understand why it was moved here at all. BM

The Belfast map for INFILTRATION rocked. If anyone could re-do that one for OFP it would be good enough . Yeah I know city maps would suck but still. BM

Write me down as one of the interested. I don't care one bit if the add-on features the Bhutanese Special Forces as long as it's well done and accurate. And as Fubar said, OFP:s maps etc would fit the CSLA very well. Most important. It looks like this mod will have interesting campaign scenarios which in itself makes it interesting. BM

Nooo! I want this addon released in the next 12 months (err, Â no offence RHS Â ) Then I hope the animations reverse engineers old units too . That would be optimal of course. RHS Animations, T-XX, This and Sucheys marines are my most wanted Add-Ons at the moment. That CSLA mod looks awesome too btw. BM
-
Agree with Fubar. Not every game needs to be a clone of OFP for me to enjoy it, it doesn't even have to be remotelly realistic. Just a fun game you can enjoy. Realism is for when I shut down my PC . I hope the demo is detailed enough to use as a basis for purchase. It's tough as it is with so many nice games coming out soon . BM
-
Just an idea. Why not get together with RHS about those new animations for soldiers? After having seen those I hope ever new addon uses them . BM

While the reviewer seems like a fool (he calls himself both sgt and dr btw) I don't think GR was a bad game at all. In fact GR did some things better than OFP,like better team control and team members that actually stuck together instead of running alone(while being equally stupid with GR about directions). This has allways been OFP:s achilles heal imo. In all other aspects OFP is of course superior. BM

One of the best ideas for OFP i've seen. Great work. BM

Hunter is one of my all time favorites I've played on A500. Time to install Amiga emulator on my new computer. Isn't that illegal? No since you need to buy Kickstart for Amiga(sold legally). In order to play games you also need to own the original UNLESS they have given the green light (many developers have) Btw whatever happened to that "new" Amiga they were supposed to release? BM

Would be hard since not even Halflife was out by then . Though not many months separated them. BM

But they hardly raised the bar or set any standards. Especially since they more or less got their ideas from Rogue Spear (and the INF mod for UT). BM

What sort of bugs/problems  I never had any problems with it, it ran straight out of the box and I never needed any kind of patch for it I meant EA:s game a decade or so back not the PS2 game. Maybe it got patched later but the reviews were pretty tough on it. BM
-
Yeah but SEAL team was very buggy and had some real problems at start. Maybe they fixed the problems later. Nice concept though . BM

I think people are getting a teeny bit carried away here . The key word here is "cost effectivness". Someone mentioned Steam Engines, well a large part of the world still uses those, or simply doing manual labour. To produce food, consumer goods etc you would need something that could compete with the cost of manual labour (which is more or less nothing in poor countries). Automation in production here in the Industrialized World is quite far gone already but they are of course manufacturing high profile goods. But for space travel and potential resuce operations I can see some use with this. Sorry for being too realistic . BM

Yeah, they can use those circuit chips to stab people with BM
-
Really nice. That picture should be in some advertising for OFP . BM

Yes but in this case we are talking about people on top of the actual IFV. I don't mean that it's a safe place or anything but crews as well as infantry should have a slight chance of survival imo (and bail out as they call it). At least against normal AT-mines. Having been in a truck driver in a transport company for a short time I know the only tool you have at your disposal is a prayer and some luck . Unrelated Q. That picture; Is that with explosions mod installed? I still havent had the chance to try it out. BM

They dont call it a game but more like intarctive learning tool. Using games to tutor employees is not really a new thing. A guy I know specializes in so called "edutainment" games for corporations. BM
