Because there are 2 vehicles created with the script, a fuel tank and a fuel station. CreateVehicle always causes a bit of lag, even on Rhamadi. I tested it and even placed the pumps in northern territory with huge vegetation density. There is small lag, but that´s just because the vehicles are created on the fly and there is a 0.2 second delay after each vehicle is created. In sum that 0.4 seconds delay by the script for creating the vehicles and destroying them plus the time the engine needs to create the vehicles. A look into the script would have revealed all that To bypass this you could create the objects with init.sqs and have them explode later on when your desired conditions are met. Because the animation within the object isn´t looped.

It´s a mission to demonstrate... Embedd it into your own mission, don´t have them blow up right at start of mission when all the texture loading is still on the way and you´ll go fine. Additionally you can get rid of the custom sound or preload it in init.sqs Demo-missions are made to demonstrate the effect but are not meant to be perfect solutions for your custom mission. A little bit of work still is to be done by the editor

Can you make an ArmA or OFP2 mod for Crysis?
Balschoiw replied to Kevlar2007's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
*cough* As we all know from hard experience , the requirenments are already toned down by the developers for " i want to sell my game" reasons. So take the info with a sack of salt and there you go. -
graphic problems following 1.08 patch......
Balschoiw replied to lifeguard532's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Is that the only gfx card in your system ? If yes, it´s no wonder it doesn´t work. Comparison: Graphics Media Accelerator 950: 170 Points (gfx performance) Nvidia GeForceGo 7600: 1900 points (gfx performance) ATI mobility Radeon X1800: 3000 points (gfx performance) Sorry mate but the Graphics Media Accelerator 950 maybe good for really old games but actually not for demanding 3D games. Upgrade ? -
Without looking at your file, have you already tried to call the scripts the "regular" way by using exec only ? execVM runs asynchron to engine timer, maybe that´s why.

Can you make an ArmA or OFP2 mod for Crysis?
Balschoiw replied to Kevlar2007's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Are hexacores delivered with the game ? I doubt that Cryisis will be playable on my machine and most of the "not-topnotch" machines out there. Apart from that Crysis follows a completely different idea than Arma. It creates a FPS-experience around the player, like if you´re going to the movies, while Arma gives you a world to play within. I remember playing Far Cry and I enjoyed it. The visuals were awesome and the AI not too bad. At the point where I had to fight mutants again, I was dissapointed. Apart from that, even if the engine was very good, I do not know if there were any serious and grown-up mods for it. I guess not. -
Have you already tried preloading the camera ? <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">_camera camPrepareTarget someGuy; _camera camPreparePos [(getPos player select 0),(getPos player select 1),(getPos player select 2)+20] _camera camPrepareFOV 0.700 _camera camPreload 15

Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions
Balschoiw replied to Jack-UK's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I don´t know the reason why this happens but my guess is that with some comps the input cycles are put on lower priority because of the high priority setting for Arma. After playing a long time with the shortcut I experienced some sound glitches eventually. I guess as a summary I can say that the shortcut with high priority setting does improve Arma performance but also poses a risk for malfunctions with other components or controller input. I guess it´s best if you try and see if it works on your machine. If it does you will get better performance, if not, nothing´s lost -
Am I the only one who got lost here: No hablo espanol.

And that has what to do with what I posted ? Apart from that G.W also has quite a record on drugs, no ? 15 years ? Source pls.

Create the waypoint on the building, and immedeately change the house position in the waypoint before creating the next WP for the next unit. To select a WP under another one, hold shift while moving over the WP.

Creating Custom Soundsources
Balschoiw replied to norrin's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
It raises the default volume of the sound by factor 10. While I do not think that it is a straight decibel relation, it is meant to increase or decrease volume of a custom sound. The effect can be heard in Arma pretty significant. Remember that you have to reload your mission if you altered the description.ext to experiance the effect of changes. -
I own the game since day one and still find new spots that are very well done. I also prefer the north for my missions as the terrain is great and there are numerous spots for any kind of missions. First I started to explore the island with helos and jeeps, now I do it on foot as there are so many places you just don´t see right when travelling in the air or on the roads. The woods areas are my favourite places and finding roads in the mountains that take you to radio stations are highlights for me. I am very happy with the island as it offers a huge variety of locations for a whole lot of mission concepts.

Yes, sorry for the typo. Fixed. -
I´m not sure on how to change the color values with Arma but you could try to create a filter-image with alpha channel in Photoshop and embedd it as ressource to your mission and have it displayed fullscreen over the scene you want to have altered.

Just me or is this the most buggy game ever
Balschoiw replied to Darkyyy's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
No ? There´s always Commando ! AI has no problems with bridges aswell ! To the thread-starter: I guess 1.08 already pushed Arma way further than what we had with 1.0 The developers tried to explain why the release was rushed and that they do feel very sorry about that and are trying hard to push Arma where we all want to have it. Of course it´s not on their list to fulfill everybodies micro-wishes but I´m sure that they do focus on the things that have to be fixed/improved and will improve Arma. On the other hand the hardware manufaturers seem to have problems of getting a good set of drivers to work for their hardware, especially under vista-environment. the 8800 family seems to be suffering from a huge list of deficits on the driver-side. This certainly isn´t something BIS is able to fix, still they get the blame. For example the fog-bug seems to be a homegrown Nvidia -bug, still people put blame on BIS. For me it´s simply hard to distinguish between those with real bugs and those with hardware errors or driverbugs. Arma is demanding on hardware and demanding software highlights the deficits of hardware or driver-environment much more than some corridor-shooter. -
It just takes me to an ad.... Edit: Popup killer kept me from getting the content.

Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions
Balschoiw replied to Jack-UK's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
This is meant to test and debate. I came across the feature for WinXP to run a game in high priority mode which I applied to Arma and from my "impression" it really boosts it a bit. High priority mode directs most of the CPU capacity to the application or program, in this case Arma. There´s also a "realtime" function that assigns almost 100 percent of the CPU capacity to the application but this will most likely freeze your comp very fast. Therefore I decided to try the "high" option that also can be applied temporarely in the task-manager, or via Registry-edit, but I think my way is the easiest and most practicable one as it doesn´t mess with the registry and creates a permanent link while the task-manager setting is only temporarely. This is what I did in Windows XP SP 2: Right-click on desktop Create a new shortcut In the pop-up window I entered this command/path: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high "F:\ArmA\arma.exe Note that you have to adjust the F:\ArmA\arma.exe part to fit your local path to the game-exe. I didn´t manage to attach the -nosplash -maxmem 512 -world=empty extension yet, but I guess it´s just a matter of syntax. Would be nice if you could test aswell if it raises performance at your comp or if it is simply bollocks. Edit: Update I use this in the shortcut now: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c start "" /high "F:\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -maxmem=512 -world=empty I tested with my regular Test-missions, Sanitize and a mission I have made in northern Sahrani. The performance imo definately increases. I don´t know why the tweak that only affects the CPU as far as I know allowed me to raise my gfx settings, but I can´t complain. The missions played more fluent and there was hardly a delay for texture loading at start of missions. This took me to raise my settings to: Textures : High Object detail: High Terrain: High Shading: High Post: Low (I don´t like the effect ) AF: Disabled Shadows: Disabled AA: Low View Distance : 2500 Refresh Rate: 75 Hz Resolution: 1024x768 It plays very smooth. Keep in mind that I´m running these settings on a AGP 7600 GT 256 MB RAM & Athlon XP 3000+ It would be nice to get some feedback on the tweak from other users with different hardware -
Cut scenes are disrupted by slow terrain loading
Balschoiw replied to ID7's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
That´s why the command was embedded with Arma. I guess it´s much more complicated to auto-embedd it for BIS as this means that they would have to rewrite big segments of the engine codes. preloadcamera and camPreload are doing the job quite well. I use camPreload more often than preloadcamera simply because for me it´s easier to control in camscripts. If you want to check the useage of both commands have a look at the Arma campaign cutscenes in case you have the european version. They use it alot there. -
Fadesound - Muting vehicle sounds
Balschoiw replied to Rejn's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
If you want to use real music 44kHz,16bit, stereo, you can´t play 2 tracks at the same time. They only switch from one to another. If you got a stopwatch, some audio editor and a good source for sounds you can implement the sounds you want to use into your musicscore and have them already embedded when the music plays.
