  1. I think, even though rubberbanding is a big issue, throttle control is more important in maintaining formation. Unless there's a serious change in how aircraft throttle is handled, whereby the player has control over the entire power range available to a real pilot, precise form flying is going to be very difficult. It's possible now, if you use autothrottle, but that removes the ability to fly formation at varying airspeeds...

    Microsoft Flight: Beta Registration Open

It's not just an impression. "The game will feature it’s own marketplace, with content regulated by Microsoft. There will be no software development kit and hence no user created content." http://flyawaysimulation.com/news/4317/microsoft-flight-behind-scenes-at-microsoft-studios/ In my honest opinion, this is a blessing. Consumers and developers alike can continue investing in FSX as a platform knowing that, for some time to come, there is nothing that can replace it. With Prepar3D adding DX11 support and optimising the base platform further for use in conjunction with multicore CPUs, it will only get better.

    Microsoft Flight: Beta Registration Open

Well then, it's official. MSFlight will be free to download, initially containing only Hawaii, with more regions to be sold at a later point through the Live Marketplace. Complete with pilot customisation and what looks like a career mode... http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2397774,00.asp It looks like Prepare3D is the only way to go in replacing FSX now.

    Russian Flying Fortress

Bah, I'd rather see this in ArmA 3: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Polaris-Motor-Flying/1487994/L/

    Maks 2011

I don't quite think that is what this thread was intended for. Whereas the original statement was a humble aside, your entire post was devoted to this point, and it didn't really contribute to anything. On Topic: That is quite a unique Havok livery, although most Russian aircraft now lack universality or consistence in their paint schemes. Is this a one-off livery, intended for service in a specific theatre?

    FCS for helicopters.

The Holy M67...I like the sound of that. :p

    ArmA3 Wishlist and Ideas

Now that we have SDVs and SCUBA diving, can we get a Lotus Esprit added as a submersible vehicle? :p In all seriousness, I'd like to see move in cargo and 6DOF functionality added to air units. It would be nice to have someone lean out the side door of the Mi-8 to guide the pilot during slingload ops.

    ArmA 2 site hacked

I was under the impression that while the BGM-109 can accept a nuclear payload, it is technically not allowed under SALT.

    IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

The latest patch provided the ability to toggle it via GUI in the options...
  10. How could you possibly enjoy the appearance of the DBS when all it did was go around a slight bend and flip over?

Japan hit by 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami

Assuming the reactors have been SCRAMmed, why would they still need cooling? Residual decay from fission by-products?
  12. This. Even the novels had outlandish plots, contrast that with the two hours of blandness in Casino Royale and QoS. That's what made the series special, and without that escapism involved, it may as well be a Bourne film.
  13. An-225 off a carrier? Why, that's nothing compared to the Sea Abrams: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Gal2/1901-2000/Gal1991_Abrams_Crenshaw/00.shtm

    Faulty AV-8B controls

I believe it has 90 seconds of water injection while in VTOL configuration.

That looks very nice. Any plans for Shamu/European 1 or SAC liveries?

Rifle scope black at night question

I suppose you would turn it off until the target is in visual range. But while the laser is a dead giveaway as to your position, I don't think NVG are that common in most theoretical opposing forces.

Rifle scope black at night question

Laser sights are primarily for use in CQB situations, removing the need to constantly aim down the sights in order to acquire a target. Also used in situations where the focal length of the NVG prohibits you from aiming using optics/other sights.

    IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

Working on critical components, such as the FM? I think that the graphics are far better than the original, what with the addition of self shadowing and bump mapping, and 3D trees instead of a texture with the illusion of depth. They are more than adequate for the purposes of flight simulation. Also, Ilya has stated on numerous occasions that the PR shots were taken with low settings on a low-end PC.

    IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

I don't have a link to the source, but apparently an Ubisoft official has confirmed this in their German forums. That's the story going around 1C and SimHQ, anyway.

    IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover

Their draconian DRM has been changed for Cliffs of Dover. Internet is only required for one time activation, you can run the sim offline after that.

    Mk-82 vs. GBU-38 JDAM

AFAIK, the Mk-82 has guidance in game so that it can be used by AI. That it can be guided by human players is a consequence of this, hence the lack of JDAM kit. Still, in the absence of any sort of CCIP, the velocity vector gives a rough approximation of where the bomb will land.

    Chinese J20 Stealth Fighter revealed

They've stolen/licenced several designs from the Russians throughout history. Are you referring to their production of the Su-27 as the Shenyang J-11?

    Chinese J20 Stealth Fighter revealed

It's a bit odd that they seem to have shown no concern with regard to IR suppression. IRST has proliferated in Western aircraft since the days of the Tomcat, and the F-35 does seem to have a very effective EO system...
