108 is out and really good for me so far but we still have to do this process. Oh well, I'll live but I did find this program that makes this process to get loaded a whole lot easier. (besides open bottle, pour and drink lol) http://www.tucows.com/preview/324202 Its a batch loading tool for software. It's a little old but works really well. I can now get to my multi-controller running game with all the controllers in 3 quick steps...after you set up a couple quick batch shortcuts. 1) dbl clk "Game Batch" (loads TrackIR, TouchBuddy server and ArmA 'cause I hate when I forget to turn them on and start the game then have to close for a reload) 2) ALT TAB out of game and plug in my usb hub with n-52, x-52, g-25, and start Touchbuddy server and also start Touchbuddy Client on my laptop that has a touch screen overlay 3) dbl clk "PLUG IN USB CONTROLLERS FIRST Batch" The n-52 and x-52 auto load their ArmA profiles which I set as default and ppjoyjoy is also set to start with my flight wheel final 4.ini (ArmA profile) by default as well 4) OK 4 to maximize the game...so its 4 ez steps BTW to auto load the YOUR_Profile.INI in ppjoyjoy just modify the text in the ppjoyjoy shortcut target to point to where the YOUR_Profile.INI is, for example mine looks like this that I copy pasted here: C:\PPJoyJoy\PPJoyJoy.exe C:\PPJoyJoy\Config\flight wheel final 4.ini (this is all in the target line of the shortcut properties)

Just searched to see if anyone ever posted about this free aka donationware because it's very useful and adds a lot to any sim. There is a really well made profile for ArmA at the touch-buddy site. www.touch-buddy.com The program was originally made for sim pits for flying in Lockon and Falcon 4AA but there is also a toolkit for making profiles with your own artwork and layouts. I bought a keytec touch screen overlay to put on an old laptop I had so I run it in a client/server mode with my game rig. This is the best way to use it but you can also just run it off a 2nd display and use a regular mouse to try it out. The ArmA profile puts all your squad, flying, armor etc, every key command at your fingertips as a mapped button or switch instead of just a letter on a keyboard that you have to remember. There is a great demo video there to check out. This is the coolest thing I have found to add to my sim gaming rig since trackir. Worth a good look and try.

No problem Turman. Yes I love the G25...was a little on the expensive side but well worth it for all my race sims not to mention way better driving around in ArmA with a wheel...think any wheel is better than keyboard twitch steering. lol BTW I also remembered where I found the JoyIDsInstall.exe program to switch joystick IDs around. Go to the wingman team site in the gadgets section. http://www.wingmanteam.com/latest_software/gadgets.htm After all this they will end up making the game work with multiple controllers in 1.08 shortly I hope. Still nice to be able to run it now though.

Turman...yes I use each pedal of the G-25 in analog for driving and for flight rudder/tail rotor control. Clutch and Gas pedal for left and right rudder and then the brake pedal is just the brake/reverse. Obviously the wheel itself is also used as an analog axis too. I don't run any OEM profiler software in the background for any controller once I have initially used the oem software to load a profile for the button maps. (I only leave ppjoyjoy running and TrackIR) Since I couldn't post a screen shot I typed out the exact settings I use for ppjoyjoy a few posts up from here. Go to control panel, game controllers and select the advanced tab and make sure preferred device is set to PPJOY Virtual Joystick 1 Also while you are in there click on logitech wheel, properties, settings and make sure you DO NOT check combine pedals Take your time and you will get it to work pretty easily and go oh now I see what they were talking about. lol

Ok so when the 1.08 patch comes out we can have the big war of all wars on the island with the "Fanboy" clan against the "Whiner" clan best out of 3. Could become a big tournament. LOL Ok going back to practice flying and commanding some troops. Sorry, I just had to mention it...but I did keep it on topic about 1.08.

PPJOYJOY JOYSTICK MIXER FOR VIRTUAL JOYSTICK 1 X AXIS: SAITEK X-52 FLIGHT CONTROLLER X AXIS Y AXIS: SAITEK X-52 FLIGHT CONTROLLER Y AXIS Z AXIS: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB Z AXIS Z ROT: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB Z ROT SLIDER: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB SLIDER 1 X ROT: SAITEK X-52 FLIGHT CONTROLLER Z AXIS Y ROT: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB X AXIS DIAL: SAITEK X-52 FLIGHT CONTROLLER Z ROT BUTTON 1: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB BUTTON 6 BUTTON 2: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB BUTTON 8 BUTTON 3: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB BUTTON 7 BUTTON 4: LOGITECH G25 RACING WHEEL USB BUTTON 5 THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS WITH EVERY AXIS USED SETTING PEDALS AS SEPARATE AXIS WHILE STILL HAVING THE TWIST SET ON THE STICK. I GET FULL AXIS RANGE ON ALL PEDALS...TWIST AND THE WHEEL ARE AT 50% RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE. KEEP IN MIND I DO HAVE 3 PEDALS SO YOU MAY HAVE TO MOVE SOMETHING AROUND TILL YOU GET THE RIGHT COMBO FOR YOUR SET. I HAD THE ADVANCED TAB OPEN FOR VIRTUAL JOYSTICK WHILE DOING MY TRIAL AND ERROR TO SEE THE CORRECT MOVEMENT. MAKE SURE YOU BRING IT TO THE FRONT BY CLICKING ON THAT WINDOW AFTER CHANGING THINGS IN PPJOYJOY OR YOU WONT SEE THE AXIS MOVING WHILE TESTING. BUTTONS ARE NOT REALLY IMPORTANT.

Looks like there are enough of us that realize the scale of making this game work like it's intended. Would it still sell as well just being branded Alpha or beta right on the box? I would buy it branded that way but that's just me. I do know thats the approach to Live For Speed which is by far one of the best race sims ever made. Why are there so many people crying about the money factor...it's only like 40 to 60 dollars invested in your entertainment. I paid for it for entertainment and it just keeps getting better and I only have a amd sempron 64 at 1.61 Mhz and a 6800gt and 1.5 gig of ram. I just run everything on normal turn off AA and AF and lowest post effects and run it at 800 x 600 and it still looks and plays well. BIS is not just after your little 40-60 dollars they want to see their project the way they envisioned and let us start playing as early as was doable and still be able to pay the bills...whats wrong with making some money anyway? Smaller studios like this make better games and put in the extra work to make it turn out right. I think there is a certain latest other game...the sequel to "let down" that suddenly lost its server support a few months after it came out...hmm was it just a crappy console port after all? Now my tactical shooter friends have a server up they hardly use. Bought him a copy of the US Combat Operations to get them hooked on what is going to be a great ever evolving game. 1.08 should be some more great improvements probably not perfect but going the right direction. The people that cry over the little money thing make me laugh like they invested their last dollars allowance from their parents. Every game I buy is a chance to be entertained...just like movies and music thats all it is. For what its worth with ArmA I have been entertained.

Well I did it! I got it to all work together...helps following your directions to the T. Also, not sure where I grabbed it but picked up a program called joyid swapper 1.a which is just a useful app to have to move say PPJOY Virtual joystick to ID1 without needing to go through control panel. I plugged my g-25, n-52, and x-52 all in one usb hub so I had only one cord to plug and unplug. The hardest part of this was setting up the axis stuff in ppjoyjoy...which is a great little program...just that it was a real fun one to get all the axis to fall into place. The axis names don't always match up to what works so it was a trial and error combo to have the gas and brake separate axis. I have tail rotor on the gas and clutch pedal as well as the twist on the joystick and still use the gas and brake and wheel in the cars like I should. All in all I used 4 axis on the wheel and 4 axis on the stick and throttle lever. I only assigned buttons in ppjoyjoy to the 4 on the wheel itself err 2 buttons 2 padal shifter levers. The nostomo is just a hid keyboard as I have found and I just have all the buttons mapped to keyboard keys in its profile anyway...same for the rest of the saitek buttons. It just get unplugged and replugged with the bunch for good measure but trackIR stays in all the time with no issues. Also, I don't use the last 3 axis on the throttle stick (1 slider and 2 dials or the mouse wheel and mouse button will not work but is not needed anyway. It's pretty fun to fly around now as well as drive with out looking too drunk. What an ordeal to just get down to play...I'm exhausted from setup. Results are worth it though...just can't wait till all the crash bugs are fixed so I don't have to do the controller dance before loading up all the time. Here is a refresh of my exact steps...thanks for the help! 1 unplug my controller usb hub (n-52, x-52, g-25) 2 Turn on TrackIR 3 load ArmA 4 alt tab to desktop 5 run nostromo profiler and set then close it 6 run x-52 profiler and set then close it 7 run ppjoyjoy and set and leave it on 8 play the game and enjoy how improved it runs AND with all the geek gadgets working together running "1.07 fixed beta" for an hour till it crashes to debug error report or BSOD 9 rinse and repeat if necessary

You can set the calibration easily. Besides you hardly have to move your head. Much better with trackir than using another button press. I got it for race sims then had to get into the flying stuff and couldn't wait to finally get ArmA. I found out about ArmA from TrackIR's site because of the feature of realistic head tracking movement built into a FPS sim/game. I had always thought you should aim with a mouse but also be able to look around easily. It's Innovative technology like this that will just keep getting better and making games more immersive if the costs stay reasonable like trackir. Stuff like this is what has made the wii take the lead for consoles because it's different yet intuitively easy to learn and more fun.

I will have to mess with this more but for now I just used the saitek profiler and set the flight stick as mouse x y and the buttons as keyboard keys. I tried to use ppjoy and ppjoyjoy to combine my g-25 wheel with the x-52 but got nothing but annoyed. Any luck with this combo? The g-25 takes over all axis control when its connected. They make old gameport to USB multi tap converters and without sounding stupid what about a usb to gameport converter to plug into one of these? I guess that would be a hardware version of the PPjoy solution without ever needing to depend on specific game support. As far as I understand you can have 2 controllers use the same ingame axis. As I can use the wheel pedals for tail rudder and gas brake right now set in the game just not from 2 different controllers unless its the mouse. No wonder consoles are popular...we have to work so much harder to get it right with PC. But it's worth it with enough patience.

I figured a way to trick the game to almost make full use of the Saitek x-52 while using my Logitech G-25 wheel. Use the profiler and just assign regular keystrokes to any controller buttons you want to use on the Saitek since the G-25 seems to always take over control as the single joystick ArmA sees right now. I use the gas and brake as flight pedals for aircraft too. The actual flight stick I have set to mouse x and y for a true axis support. All other axis on the Saitek unfortunately has to be set as bands and buttons. But at least for now I can fly and drive with the right "pit" controllers.
