    I would have thought the Ruskies would all be toting at least the 74M by that time frame - still, there are craploads of people in the Russian Army still toting AK47s/AKMs, apparently.

    The only people toting AKMs are Special Forces, and they do this because they choose it the 7.62mm round over the 5.45mm round of the AK-74. The Russian Army has been using the AK-74 and its variants completely since the late 70s.

    Just post the link, if its from imageshack its not hotlinking. Furthermore you won't get banned for this, you'll just have a warning and its not a big deal.

    Thats very poor reasoning.

    I can bet dollars to donuts that more English speaking players play Armed Assault than Chinese speaking players. Just because there are more Chinese speaking people in the world does not mean it directly scales down to Armed Assault, a game most popular in English countries.

    Colonel Sanders, thank you so much for these replacement packs but I have to ask for one small favour. Please stop making the names of the folders so long. Can you please shorten them to things like @MarinesRepl or @JonnyMarines or something shorter than @JONNY'S_FRZ_COLONEL_SANDERS_MADE_REPLACEMENT_PACK_COPYWRITE_2007

    Unless you're allowed to change the folder name to what you want anyways... (if so, nevertheless, please change it to something shorter so its easier for us all)

    the fact to be able to put M16 magazines in the M249 is useless.

    I wholely disagree, I can count a number of times when someone has run out of ammo and needed it desperately. The M249 is an important member of the squad, and as such definitely needs that ability. Plus thats the whole point of having a 5.56mm SAW.

    This is perfect! I'm in the USMC DEP, and I couldn't stand the absence of Marines in ArmA. I'm getting a lot of people over from my realism unit in Red Orchestra to setup a helicopter-infantry USMC unit. The only other obstacle is having someone model a CH-53E. That would make my day.

    Has anyone tested this on the US version of the game?

    I thought you said you were a member of the Golani unit in the IDF?

    Ok then, it could just be a vest on top of his skin, or on his t shirt, only take some imagination. Its the half dressed look that is required, there is no written state of what he should be wearing. Reskinner can only reskin the current models i know. That is what i was asking.

    Thats still not possible, because the shirt underneath is also modelled on. Unless the guy would have really wrinkled and thick arms, then it would look ridiculous.

    Well last night I did some stuff with codecs, deleted caches and some regedit stuff. This morning I come to see that ArmA now launches without an error, and with the sound card enabled. However, there is still no sound in the game! Nor do I have internet or windows sound, only MP3s.

    What the heck is going on?

    Well I bought a new sound card, updated drivers and the problem is still here so I dont even know anymore. When I disable it, the game runs fine (with no sound though). So I dont know if its the audio driver, audio codec, what?

    What type of sound card do you have?

    When I first started having this problem, I used the motherboards onboard Realtek AC97 sound. Just today I bought the Soundblaster Audigy SE and it still is broken.

    the usual "update your drivers" as well as trying an updated version of OpenAL, make sure youve got the latest directX version (9.0c April 2007) and other than that try compatibility modes, check your chipset drivers aswell

    EDIT: sorry, you have got latest DirectX already

    Yeah I tried all that, still not working...sigh. Does this mean Ill have to buy a new sound card?

    I dont have an answer for you as I also tried the updated driver route and reinstalling a drive image of a clean XP install and neither worked for me.

    I was also building another computer at the time and reinstalled XP from scratch again on another HD and that worked, so I dont know what was wrong with the XP image I was using as I am sure it was only XP SP2 with most of the updates so that should not have caused a problem.

    my recommendation is to format your HD reinstall XP, update it, install up to date drivers for your chipset and audio then install ArmA again.

    So my only option is to format my HD and reinstall XP? Sigh, Im sorry I love ArmA but not to that extent. I'll keep looking for solutions, maybe itll come down to simply buying a new soundcard. Probably a good idea anyways.

    just for a test disable your sound card so you have no sound then try running the game again.

    I had a similar problem where 1.02 was working fine but when I installed 1.04 it broke something to the point where even reinstalling 1.02 had the same problem.

    I never found out what was causing the problem but I suspect it was a codec or something that 1.04 did not like.

    Yup, when I disable the sound card it works. I updated my drivers but it still does not work! So I can play without sound, so now how can I fix it so i can play with sound? On top of all this, youtube and flash doesn't have sound in it either!
