Awesome write up! It is a wicked mission - that WGL AI tends to do a great job in this one. We'll definitely hit it again. I was working on photos, yesterday. I'll have them up soon.

Just to clarify, for the US players, that's Saturday, tonight @ 9 p.m. CST. It would be nice to see a good mix of old and new players!

    Multiplaying Question

Grab Arma 2 Free. Plenty of MP action.
  4. For a guy who plays @ 800x600/no AA/no AF (single-core A64, weak SM3 card), PPAA=3 and PPAA_Level=3 have significantly improved the visuals with negligible negative FPS impact. I like it!

    TacOps Server

Hi, folks - the server looks like it's going through some sort of failure. I'm not sure what it is, yet. I'll work through it and hopefully have it back up soon.
  7. Hi, folks, While running CO Lite, I disabled A2F and A2 in the OA Expansion Manager (I'm not sure why A2 was in the list - I only have A2F. . .). After restarting the game, I found that both A2F and A2 were no longer listed in Expansions. Is there a way to get OA to detect A2F, without re-installing, such that I can re-enable CO Lite without using the '-mod=' startup command? (I've already unsuccessfully tried a fresh config and profile). Thanks, Anguis Edit: I tried to start CO Lite w/ the following shortcut line, (taken from http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?129082-ARMA-2-Free-For-Combined-Ops-Lite/page3) with the idea that the Expansions list would populate correctly and allow for CO Lite to be activated. Well, that didn't work (it never worked, actually, for me before - that's why I'd used the Expansion Manager - it's worked great, so far, for whatever other mods I've been using).
  8. Yes, when I posted earlier, I had looked and found no modLauncherList section (I'm not sure what had happened, b/c it had been there, with A2F and others, earlier). I actually managed to do what you suggested, though "indirectly", and reset the list (and thus, avoided a full re-install): 1. I deleted the configs and profiles for both A2F and OA. 2. Then I rebuilt them through launching the games and profiles, individually (A2F and then OA, more systematically that I tried, earlier). 3. I found upon launching OA that the list was re-established, correctly. I will refrain from disabling A2F in CO Lite from now on!
  9. Thank you! That detail escaped me, completely. I have a feeling I'll be re-installing and starting from scratch, if only to see where everything goes and how it works, in contrast to OFP.
  10. Thanks, guys - that was a revelation. I've got a bit to learn about how mods are handled now.
  11. Hi, folks, Does this work with CO Lite? Here's my shortcut line: Should that work? It hasn't for me, so far. Thanks for any help!

    TacOps Server

Hah! I wish I could say I did, but, given a bunch of time constraints, I went with the path of least resistance and bought a cheap replacement video card ($10; a moment of silence, please, for my beloved and very dead ti4600. . .). Along the way, I ended up grabbing an old Radeon SM3 card (another $10; I've learned to prefer Nvidia with Linux) that allows me to play Arma2Free in all its low mipmaps, 800x600 glory. CiA Arma2 Nights, here I come!!!
  13. Hi, folks, I managed to grab an AGP Radeon x1650 pro very cheaply, thus providing me an 'in' to the SM3 world. So, of course, I've been testing Arma2Free. I managed to get in on an AAS game with 53 players and found the experience, gameplay-wise, acceptable, much to my surprise (holy smokes! no slide show!). I'm playing @ 1024x768, with everything else as low as it goes, except terrain detail, which is at 'Normal'. The CPU is an Athlon64 4000+, single-core, and the RAM is 3 Gigs. In anticipation of grabbing OA, would anyone provide tips for playing with a low-spec computer? I've run into a bunch of tweaks that apply to more capable hardware, but not much for the player satisfied with playing @ the lowest video settings. Anything in the config/profile that is applicable with the latest updates? Thanks for any help! I was extremely excited to be able to play AAS in the Arma world. Anguis

    Major Graphics Technology Suggestion

This GameInformer article from last November has an interesting bit on an unreleased demo: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/11/22/exploring-unlimited-detail.aspx?PostPageIndex=1&PageIndex=6 The commentary on developer and hardware interests, in both the long interview video and the article is interesting, as well.

    TacOps Server

Hi, folks! The TacOps WGL server is back up and running (TS2 server, as well). If any of you have the time, would you try to log in to both and let me know whether or not they are accessible? Thanks! Anguis edit: ah, yes, I forgot that I could check the log - thanks for those who popped by.
  16. Cool new recording from Kevin Cadogan and Arion Salazar (from the show they did in December for PBS): http://www.surfacingsubmarine.com/messageboard/index.php?app=downloads&module=display&section=download&do=confirm_download&id=14 It's free, but you'll have to register at Kevin's site.

    Surprises at Flashpoint.ru

Thanks for posting this, Zulu - Vedeno is really a scenic piece of work: nice towns, nice tree and boulder placement, nice rivers. Perfect for a casual helo tour (and some picturesque missions)! Thumbs up to its creator!

    TacOps Server

Happy New Year, folks! The main TacOps server will be down for a bit while I figure out how to get around an Ubuntu problem I've run into (I don't know how to access the wifi network from the command line. . .). I can get the backup running, if enough folks want it, but, right now, it's running CiA FDF, and I'd prefer to keep it there (aside from the occasional TacOps WGL Night) - FDF's really fun - give it a go! Take care, y'all! Anguis update: The server will be down for some time while I reassess/rethink its setup (and learn a few new Linux things. . .). It'll be back up, eventually.

ArmA: Cold War Assault on Android / iOS

Windows Phone, for me (might be easier if it ends up being based on Windows 8, as has been rumored).
