Ok, I've got Windows 8 installed. This is an old system, but it's played A2 well enough for me, certainly OFP. The video card uses the Radeon Legacy Driver 10.2. Installing CCC turned out to be a no-go. Installing the driver ended up being a manual affair (extract and browse). I will say, W8 is 'snappier' than Vista. Potential problem: I can't adjust the vid. driver with no CCC, so, it'll be interesting to see how things go. I never really messed with it before, other than to turn off AA and adjust things up to "Quality." As it is, another game that I play that has a max resolution of 1024x768 won't go full-screen like it did with Vista. . . If OFP runs unacceptably, back to Vista! edit: Alright, OFP does work (fullscreen 1600x1200), so far as I've been able to test. Without some of the Catalyst tweaks, the visuals aren't as nice as before, but I'll have to see how much of a distraction that turns out to be. Everything moves smoothly, no lag. Looking good, so far. I'll update, if I run into anything interesting. I was able to get on my server - looks like there's nothing new to deal with on the network front. Managed to get on Overlord's, too.

Sorry, Phantom Six, I do not think you can. Basically, 1.96 involves Codemasters. 1.99 does not. Bohemia won't be going back down that route. I use Linux b/c it's easier to keep things up to date, legally, than with Windows in the Craigslist-Frankenstein computers I put together over time. If I end up with a Windows machine that I can update legally (probably this one I'm using now, if I build a more up-to-date machine), I might get a 1.99 server going. As it is, for multiplayer, I think you're doing fine if you're playing with CiA. Their games are A LOT more regular than what we have over here (although, when we do get something going here, it's fun, too) and they're the ones who really got me hooked on this game. Additionally, if you're okay with single player, grab FDF for your 1.99 setup. It's a lot of fun and I'm not sure A2 has something like it, yet (correct me if I'm wrong, guys; Tonal's fun, too). Alternatively, if it's still affordable (though, understandably, frustrating), grab 1.96 from Amazon. I bought GOTY copies for friends and family a few years back for about $12 for each copy. Today, I see it ranging from $0.01 to ~$5.

Hi, folks, The FDF server we mentioned earlier is up. Here's the info: OFP 1.96 Server browser name: TacOps FDF/BAS server This is, basically, the old CiA FDF server (sort of in keeping with the inspiration for the TacOps WGL server). If you have the old addons, they will work. That said, it's not official, so, if you don't have them, you might need to wait a bit - it'll take some time before I can get them up somewhere (I don't even remember the list; if I recall correctly, though, the CiA thread might have it - the basic FDF setup should work for a bunch of missions, I assume). My original thought had been that an FDF game would be sort of a "pick up"/one-off. It's getting announced here and not in another thread because of that - it's not necessarily meant to be ongoing. However, the server's up and might be for a while, hopefully. It'll be nice to run into the random "Perkele!" and barking RKs, again! (and missions I can't read. . .) FDF was my true intro to OFP, and CiA FDF was my intro to OFP Multiplayer, so, this is nice! Thank you very much, Overlord, for getting the server up and available! edit: HA! Zulu got in the news before I finished this post.

Hi, Overlord! Great to hear from you! I'd been out of town over the weekend (continued good weather over here: canoe+lake. . .), so I didn't get your note until last night. PM on the way. . . ---------- Post added at 11:09 ---------- Previous post was at 11:01 ---------- Server note: I upgraded my internet service, so I'll have the server up at some point, for folks to test out (I know sometimes a good number of folks show up mid-day to play the vanilla missions). Hopefully, it'll be nice and stable.

@Variable: The weather's still good over here (which is remarkable), so we're getting as much 'outdoors time' as we can (new canoe for the family needs to be used before everything freezes over here). When the temp drops, it'll be good to see you all! (Now, for me to get a handle on the controls, again. . .) @Revan: WW2 FDF is a great idea, maybe we can get a hand from OL?

Hi, guys, Yes, this has been on my mind for a while. The most gaming I've done lately involves an iPod Touch and "Tiny Wings," all the while thinking about Zulu's new mission. If you'd like to organize a game, yourself, let me know and I'll make sure the server is running. Generally, I try to keep the server up at all times, but sometimes it goes down with wifi issues. If you notice it's down and would like to play, send me a PM and I'll get it up, ASAP.

Who knows, maybe even the man whose excuse is he's Norwegian! Viking has been around, apparently popping in solo a little bit. The last two+ weekends have involved my family being in the "northern wilds" of my neck of the woods, so that's what's been occupying me. I'll get the server back up, shortly.
