I don't know - I think it's nice to have a safe 'desperation' move, possibly get some heads down and then work from there (it'd be interesting to see this above one's head, behind, say, a traffic barrier or low wall).

Outstanding, Pulverizer! Thanks!

I won't be there this time (but maybe next time): got a movie date with my wife! Y'all have fun!

Hi, folks, Saw this yesterday and thought it might be useful for your testing (I hope so, anyways): Windows Sysinternals' RAMMap Quote from the description: "Have you ever wondered exactly how Windows is assigning physical memory, how much file data is cached in RAM, or how much RAM is used by the kernel and device drivers? RAMMap makes answering those questions easy. RAMMap is an advanced physical memory usage analysis utility for Windows Vista and higher. Use RAMMap to gain understanding of the way Windows manages memory, to analyze application memory usage, or to answer specific questions about how RAM is being allocated." It's free - hope this helps!

Tested above in the CiA WGL server on an old Compaq c500 laptop running ofp on Ubuntu 10.04, via Wine (Freya: Red Balloons): it works and is playable! Edit: included the ww4 anims.

I second getting only the Game of the Year Edition (GOTY): you'll get full access to all the content available for this game (I have over 30 Gigs. . .; DOA has a huge 1+ Gig archive that expands to over 4; the best mods require it.). In general, your copy won't be able to match the good video examples you see, unless it's GOTY. The copies I've bought for friends have come from Amazon (US).

Whoa, MJ - awesome, thanks!

Ultimate Flashpoint Mod Previews and Videos

Looking forward to seeing the final release! -
The more, the merrier! It was a nice change of scenery. The forests were really congested - FOV was severely limited by the foliage and made things pretty intense.

Looking really good! -
Good gaming last night!

@Drobkins: Thanks! Any additional addons needed, like islands? I'm pretty sure I've got VTE and Jungle Fever up-to-date. I can make some time for any times after 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Central (other times, too, but that's the easiest).

I'm in - let me know where to get the addons.
-
Where'd you download them?

FDF mod's one of the greats - some of my favorite missions, both SP and MP, have been for FDF. The FDF mission makers have had a knack for evoking a heavy mood/atmosphere. The old mission site was great for finding good ones - well designed. Happy to see more coming!

Got any info on that song, Celery? :D

Looks pretty cool - I'll give it a try.

The "Official" Advance and Secure Thread (AAS)
anguis replied to BCA Cat Toaster's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Former JO player here (AAS was the reason I bought the game): This looks great! Thanks for your efforts, guys! -
Great - let me know if I can help!

 wow, any chance of getting a wgl model replacement config?

riffleman, if you limit your adjustments to only the modfolder, you should not have to reinstall the entire game, if something goes wrong. Try this: copy the ww4 folder, rename it to something like "ww4testing" and create a shortcut that reflects the changed modfolder name. Do all your tests in that changed modfolder - you'll be able to compare results to the original ww4, and, if you screw up, you can simply re-copy the original modfolder and start again with your tests, without having to reinstall the game.

Project Reality Development
anguis replied to craig.turner's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'm very interested in "good PVP", so, I'm very happy to see this development. Question for the PR devs: Will the AAS mode used in the mod be the one currently in use in Arma2? -

Great news! I'm looking forward to your releases! -
Alright, I've got OFP running well enough to play under Wine. Here's what I did: 1. I set things in winecfg as vektorboson described. 2. I turned off all Visual Effects - Compiz Fusion was a big drain. 3. In Flashpoint Preferences, I turned off HW T&L and set the resolution bit depth to 16. Colors are somewhat off (blue blood and fire), but that's acceptable on this underpowered laptop. Mouseclicks now register consistently well, lag has been reduced to an acceptably playable level. -nomap and -nosplash are working through ofpwatch. MP works. I'll update more if I learn anything new that's helpful.

Thanks, guys! I updated Wine - the version I had was the one from the official repositories and it dates back to 2008, iirc (it's the latest stable release). This new version, beta 1.1.40, has solved a few of the issues, particularly audio. The weird thing now is, I can't run mods unless I use ofpwatch (I actually think that'll simplify things)! I've managed to get on a MP server. Lag is still an issue - I'm fearing that will remain the case. . . @vektorboson: Do you recall anything special you might have done to get things running very well?
