    Creative labs or of?

I would hope that turning acceleration down fixes it as that then basically disables your soundcard. Everything is calculated through software with no help from oncard chips. Which loads up the cpu and will slow the gameplay. It should work just by turning it down by one notch which will disable EAX and other card specific effects. Here is a tech babble on what the 4 settings do: Emulation Setting The Emulation setting above forces DirectSound into emulation mode. In this mode, DirectSound applications run as though no DirectSound driver is present. All mixing is done by DirectSound in user mode, and the resulting audio data is played back through the waveOut API. The result is typically a large increase in latency. Note that after you select this setting, you might need to reboot if you are running a Windows version that is earlier than Windows XP and you want to change to one of the other three settings: Basic, Standard, or Full. This problem has been fixed in the version of DirectSound that ships with Windows XP and later. Basic Setting The Basic setting disables hardware acceleration of DirectSound secondary buffers. Under this setting, all DirectSound applications run as though no hardware acceleration is available, regardless of the capabilities of the sound card that is being used. You can use this setting during testing to emulate a sound card that has no DirectSound acceleration. With an adapter such as the OPL, which has no acceleration of DirectSound secondary buffers, this setting has the same effect as the Standard setting. In Windows .NET Server, Basic is the default setting. Standard Setting The Standard setting enables hardware acceleration of DirectSound secondary buffers but disables vendor-specific extensions such as EAX (Creative Technologies' environmental audio extensions) that are exposed as property sets through the IKsPropertySet interface (see Exposing Custom Audio Property Sets). In Windows 2000, the Standard setting is selected by default. Full Setting The Full setting enables full acceleration of DirectSound secondary buffers. This setting also enables property sets for vendor-specific extensions that are exposed through the IKsPropertySet interface. IKsPropertySet extensions include vendor-specific hardware enhancements such as EAX. This is the default setting in Windows 98/Me and Windows XP. Changing the Sample rate conversion slider does not really have any effect on anything so you may as well set this to the Best setting (Default for XP) Win98 defaults to the minimum setting, but set it to max. You may need to reboot after changing these setting to have the right effect. (but probably not) Hope this helps someone

My mouse stutter is fixed !

Oh Happy Day !!! I just installed my shiny new Gainward GeForce4 Ti1200XP GS and thought I would run through some different games to check out how good it is (awesome ! I haven't played OpFlash for months b/c I have a Logitech mouse and ever since I have had the game (since it was released) I have had the stuttery mouse problem. It was playable for a long time but then it suddenly became totally unplayable for no good reason. I had run through every troubleshooting option around and tried hundreds of different things to fix it without success. I had to resign myself to a life without Flashopint I almost gave it away to a friend last week !!! Now when I started it up it is running flawlessly YEEEE HHHAAAAAAAA !!!! and I even have all graphics set to max as a bonus ! The only thing I can think of that may have fixed it is either the new 30.82 nvidia drivers or the reinstallation of DirectX 8.1 that I did with the card install. Anyway - I just had to share my good news and maybe it will help someone else who is still having this problem. ps. It wouldn't just be the better vid card as I already had a GeForce2 GTS.

    Agp drivers [help]

Ummm no - the chipset installation utility has the updated driver files that the chipset needs - It is a bit of a confusing name, maybe it should be called the chipset updater instead. From the included readme: The Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility installs to the target system the Windows* INF files that outline to the operating system how the chipset components will be configured. This is needed for the proper functioning of the following features: - Core PCI and ISAPNP Services - AGP Support - IDE/ATA33/ATA66/ATA100 Storage Support - USB Support - Identification of Intel® Chipset Components in the Device Manager And I'm not sure what intel site you may be looking at but the latest version is definitely 4.00.1013 815 chipset drivers 4th item down in the list. I searched for win98se but looks to be ok for all OS

    Agp drivers [help]

Yep - use the intel chipset drivers. I have an 815ep chipset and use them. They also update the usb ports and a few other things. You may find your system runs much better. Dont worry about intel graphics drivers b/c as you said you do not have onboard graphics. Then update to the latest nvidia detonators and you should be rockin! edit: the file you need is 'infinst_enu' latest version seems to be on 6/7/2002 4.00.1013

Which sound card is the best for ofp and xp

I have heard the Philips Acoustic edge cards are very good - I'm thinking of getting one to replace my SBLive. I hate that damn card - always getting screwy EAX positioning and I can't believe the basic drivers (for win98) havn'e been updated for about 2 years. Anyway - here's a link to some reviews: OnePC Philips review This one is pretty wordy but also give some great technical explanations of what EAX1, EAX2 and all that confusing stuff is: 3D soundsurge review

    Frames - grrrr

Turn off 4xAA - that usually gives you a hit of 50 - 70 % drop in framerate. Try without any and then try 2xAA and see how it goes. If that doesn't help then maybe there is something wrong with your drivers or config - does it perform ok in other games/benchmarks etc?

    Mouse wheel

In mouseware go to the buttons tab have scroll size set to 3 lines (maybe this doesn't matter) and don't check the 'ms office only' box. Then go to the middle button (2 on the list) I have mine set to autoscroll. Highlight this and then click 'modify' I have then ticked the 'ms compatible only' for the autoscroll menu. These settings work for me. Although I then lost scrolling in Iexplorer. I changed them to something else and then changed them back to the original settings and it worked again! Logi drivers suck imho - I'm getting an MS mouse next. It may be a wait this logi has a 10 year warranty

    Mouse stutter grief!

Wow that was quick! Yeah I had tried both of those fixes but neither made any difference. It just annoys the crap outta me when everything else runs perfectly - I really want to keep playing this game. I can play it - it just means I get killed much more often b/c I can never shoot the buggers

    Mouse stutter grief!

Hi all, I am having major troubles with the mouse stuttering and not moving as if I have hair all caught up in it (I don't it's optical) It happens on every screen in game - menu, in game or options. It starts, it stops, it take a huge effort to get it to line up on a button and even harder to line up an enemy forehead. I have a logitech mouseman with latest logitech drivers. Before you all yell at me: Yes - I have read every FAQ and previous post about logitech mice and have tried every single workaround and setting possible. I tried the standard windows drivers but they didn't seem to help and then I lost wheel and thumb button functions the rest of the time. I even went to the extreme of loading the lastest MSintellipoint optical drivers, suprisingly they actually worked on my desktop - in game still the same problem. It is strange that this mouse performs flawlessly in every other application and game I have ever used! Super smooth without any hiccups (I use cad a lot so smoothness is very important) I can't believe that you are still trying to tell us it is somehow the fault of logitech mice or their drivers! Maybe they do have a fault and admittedly their drivers do lack in some areas but if every other piece of software can function then why not this?? I have struggled with this game since it first came out - I havent played it for about 5 months - I saw it in my draw and wondered why I stopped playing it - after 5 minutes I remembered please please please someone fix it ps: I am patched up to the latest version 1.46 P3 1Ghz, GeForce2 GTS, 256Mb ram
