crash to desktop with microsoft error

It's Gold edition and it's one of the faulty ones going by avon's site. That is very odd buying it from an ebgames store and it's been almost 3 years. Not cool at all.

    Error

hello I have a friend who doesn't have the internet. haha who doesn't? he's one of them. He has an athlon xp 1800, and a shuttle mobo with 600+ ram. the splash screen comes up and then it goes away and there is nothing for a couple of seconds. Then a general windows error comes up. That's it that's the error message. What's up with that? the game worked fine before updating it to 1.85 and 1.90 and 1.91. Of course trying reinstalling several times It only works in 1.75 and the original opflash. We've also tried the -nosplash thing in properties of a shortcut and the splash screen still came up and we got the same "general windows error". any ideas?

Loss of sound and hard crash

I get the same problem exactly and it's annoying. But I switch to hardware audio and it comes back on, mostly, then when i switch off hardware audio I have some sounds but no weapon or engine sounds. this is weird. I have an Athlon XP 2400 (got it for only$175) soundblaster live and 512mb ram. It's really bad when sound doesn't work right and sometimes it will lock up my game during play and restart. I'm going to reinstall and see if that works. I have updated my video and audio drivers and i don't have a via chipset so that's not it either.

yeah it's pretty shameful thunderbird; it was great for a while; it still is pretty good but I'm going to use it to build computer for my mom. haha. maybe some time in the future I'll switch to ddr. mainly because it couldn't hurt. But my mobo is such a pain to switch to ddr. there are like a hundred jumpers and switches that have to be changed to use ddr. I'll probably have to get another mobo. Well thanks a lot again everyone.

ok. thx. So I guess switching to an athlon xp 2100 would be a better idea than to switch over to 512mb ddr 2100 memory from 512 pc133?

You are right about the benchmark not being important. But I guess I worded the questions weird. I meant to ask would buying a 512mb ddr chip be better than having 1 gig of pc133. I have 512mb now. the game runs adaquate at current low quality settings; but would the memory upgrade/switch be better than switching over to an athlon xp processor? (also forget about the hard drive and soundcard questions cause I bet those upgrades will surely increase game quality.)

    Benchmark only 2600

oops the first time i posted this i put my user name as title, oh well 1.4 ghz athlon 512mb pc133 20 gig 5400 rpm (getting 40 gig 7200 Â rpm soon) Radeon 9000 pro 64mb getting a new soundblaster live card benchmark: 2600 I've read other people's benchmarks and mine seems really low for the ccomputer i have. I ahve a few questions. Will switching to 512 ddr be better than adding 512 (will have 1 gig pc133) mb of sdram?; (My motherboard supports both ddr and pc133) How much better would the new 7200 rpm drive be and the new soundcard? My old sound card is an ali chipset onboard my ecs k7ama motherboard. Â Â Â Â Antiac
