I may well have gone utterly mad having just played through those last couple of sadistic Red Hammer missions, but I don't recall OpFP behaving like this before 1.46... Got a gun & ammo + some grenades and picking up an RPG... I only get 1 missile, so I want to pick uo a second RPG missile... the menu command always opts to drop my gun ammo - ignoring the grenades! aaaargh! Likewise, if I want to pick gun ammo up and have grenades, the menu commands always prefer to drop RPG ammo or satchel charges....anything but the grenades... The only way I seem to be able to get rid of the grenades is to throw the buggers!! (hardly the stealthy option) This is bonkers. Or I am. Or both. Â Bleeeeee! Â Anyone else agree it's a bug?

I'd like a 'centre on me' key for the map - it can be a real pain to scroll back & find where you are on it. Keys for navigating the team in the 'gear' tab on the clipboard - or at least lock the arrows to the same place & not let them move in and out on short/long names. I'd also like the gear to update when a team member picks up some ammo etc. currently have to close the 'map' view and reopen it to refresh Fix the pickup as it always seems to prefer to keep grenades / satchel charges in the inventory over ammo clips & rpg rounds. VERY frustrating when you can't pick up ammo without it wanting to drop that RPG round instead of a grenade.... maybe just need more options regarding what will be dropped. Disarming a Satchel charge (accidentally placed it for example) adds it back to inventory - why can't we reuse it? A 'watch' command to tell your squad members to look towards the place clicked (in view/map) to make sure they spot the enemy and aren't facing the wrong way!

I sympathise! This one took me quite a few attempts too and I'd pulled most of my hair out by the end. Â This is how I did it: At the start, move to the Gunner's seat and get the other team members to jump into the tank. Destroy the enemy BMP just beyond the the start and use the machine gun quickly to kill the RPG soldier and his friends at the roadblock to the right. Drive over to the roadblock and grab the binoculars from the officer and the RPG launcher. Got one soldier to grab the M60 from the m.gunner. You might want to grab M16's and as many clips as you can - Be very QUICK though! Next, drive thru the enemy base on the South route. This can be tricky because the AI driver tends to drive straight over the mines outside the entrance gate so you might want to take over the driving position yourself. After getting through (don't worry about engaging everything) swap back to the gunner position when things are quiet. Â (often if you stop the tank the 'move to..' options are then available & you don't have to get out) Use the map to get your driver to follow the road to the enemy camp - leaving you to engage the 2 heli's with machine gun or sabot. Once the road starts winding up the hill you'll really start to slow down so it's best to then aim for the SW edge of the forest just south of base and go on foot when you get there. Beware the patrol in the field to the south, between the base and the forest, and also the troops at the gates/roadblock west of the base. Take out the BMP with the the RPG launcher. Next the hard bit - time will be down to the last few minutes by now, and there's no choice but a frontal assault on the base. You'll have to be a little rambo-esque to do it, especially if like me you've lost your team mates. (I grabbed the M60 from my comrade here) Once you've cleared the base - run to Sergei to achieve the objective. Now to escape. Basically DON'T RUSH BACK! Get Sergei to get a gun ASAP so he can run - I think there's an officer around so get him to take the binoculars too. Beware troops up in the woods N of the base who can shoot down upon you. My route took me West through as many woods as possible - be careful as I almost tripped over one camp of a Tank,BMP and Shilka. There doesn't seem to be many patrols around so you should be able to run back to the extraction point quite easily if you take care before breaking cover. It's quite satisfying when you have done it - so don't give up yet!

A fun mission this one. First thing to do is to arm with strella missiles either in briefing or QUCKLY from tent behind you. stand just outside the tent door and shoot the Chinnooks down when they start to hover to neutralise the US attack. Shoot the one over the beach first and then the one to the north. (Issuing "ALL - Danger" won't hurt either) You should be able to get both choppers before any enemy troops get out if you are fast. I then reloaded and used another strella to shoot the resistance truck that then comes down the road to your left (w) to knock them out. I think sometimes there is a small attack from the N road too. There is also a hidden objective that can be completed: wondered where that resistance truck comes from??? Rearm and take your squad into the N woods and up the hill to the top. To the West there is the resistance castle. (Alternatively follow the road up the hill.) Capture the castle to earn a bonus objective. If your replacements don't appear in the town (which happened to me) group your squad & head up the N exit road towards the destination base (you'll pass the reinforcements sitting in their truck) and the mission should end

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I'm using the V23.11 Detonators without any problems under Windows XP. The infinite loop problem is not specific to NVIDIA-based cards, so placing the blame on the Detonator drivers or NVIDIA is not fair.<span id='postcolor'> I didn't mean to imply it was purely down to the det drivers, but the newer releases do seem to aggrevate whatever the issue is so be wary... It's true it's not just NVidia based - users with Radeons are also having difficulties, and the issue isn't limited to WinXP or AMD platforms either... Best guesses across various forums out there seems to be that it's some kind of incompatibility issue with AGP 2x/4x drivers and the video drivers. possibly. maybe. The problem is no-one seems to be sure what causes the issue on one machine but not another, and no-one really seems to be taking responsibility for fixing the issue either. As I said - If it aint broke don't fix it would seem sensible at the moment - but if you are competent at reverting drivers if it should go utterly pear-shaped then by all-means give 23.11 a try. As the saying goes... Â Your mileage may vary.

First, definately get the sniper (3) to pick up another weapon so you can take his gun! Capture the island first, using squad to attack and sniping in support from the bushes. Beware the small boat on the coast to the east of the connecting road. When no enemy troops are left, Grab a couple of LAWs/RPGs and kill vulcans from behind crest of hills after crawling towards them then kneeling so still partly conceeled. I think there is an M20 there somewhere (tents? can't remember) to give back to your sniper. Remember to rearm at the truck if need be. Drive to furthest set of vulcans, hiding behind the large SE hill Climb to top (with sniper if wish) & crawl towards edge. Snipe all troops you can see. When all done, use LAW/RPG on vulcans. Should be easy really if you are good with the sniper rifle or use the alt-tab trick to save more than once... only loss was my stupid sniper who stood up & then got turned to dog food by the 3rd Vulcan... DOH!

Any Red Hammer vets able to help me on the first tank mis.?
AndyJ replied to MotherRussiaAK74's topic in OPF MISSIONS
Slyman, I had a similar problem on 'picking up the pieces' with it not completing. Check you've completely destroyed all the tanks... There should be 4 I think. In my experience, one will make a run to the repair truck once shot and you might lose it if you ain't careful... Also, I only destroyed the turret (and presumably the crew) of one tank. On closer examination the chassis section looked intact, and wasn't burnt out. Once I blasted it again I got a 'big' explosion & smoke from it, signifying it was destroyed, and the mission completed. -

Just a quick update as I've found out why I couldn't finish! I'd knocked out one of the tanks but had only destroyed the turret on it - not the main tank chassis too... Once I blasted it again, the mission ended - so when a mission states you need to destroy tanks as an objective, make sure they went up with a big explosion and were totally burnt out! -
RUN AWAY!!!! You'll likely get frequent Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) stating "infinite loop" in nvdisp.dll or something or other... I've just built my dream system - a dual athlon1800+ MP's with a GF3Ti500 graphics card on XP - and it was the most stressfull 2 weeks of my life given all the problems it had. Detonator drivers will put you in a world of sheeeeeiiit in my experience! If you are very brave & can get them try the previous nvidia drivers until you find one which seems stable and works for you... if it ain't broke now though, I definately suggest not fixing it 'till nvidia sort their act out!!! I'm having some success & stability with 22.80, although using my TV card & occassionally WinDVD can cause a BSOD & a reboot. 22.50 for me didn't support Giants T&L so it got immediately canned. Don't make the mistake of believing the 23.11 problems are restricted to those users with VIA chipsets - I've all AMD chips on my Tyan mobo, and I've read plenty of similar stories from users on other platforms, even intel mobo's...

ERRRR.... have you tried altering the gamma settings in the Video Options in the game? Playing with shades on in a dark room with the brightness turned low on your monitor is also not reccommended...

Red Hammer Mission "Picking up the Peices"
AndyJ replied to MotherRussiaAK74's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
1st time I asumed it was coz he'd got shot... but anyway I've put him in as gunner and I'm doing all the driving. approach the dip where the tanks are hiding aiming about 1/2 way between the road and rocks to the south. Go slow and nudge forward till you can see one to engage. Any damage, return to the repair truck. repeat. As far as I can see there's 4 tanks and some infantry further on... however it doesn't want to let me finish -
hi kenny87, still can't see your error pic - is the error a CRC failure? I couldn't install but eventually managed to upgrade like this: 1) Take a copy of the 'Users' folder 2) Re-install OFP 3) Manually COPY the contents of the Flashpoint_Gold folder into the OFP folder, overwriting existing files. 4) Install Red Hammer, all files should checkout ok. 5) Copy back the Users folder if you lost it in the reinstall I know that sounds mad, but it worked for me.... hope that helps (Edited by AndyJ at 1:36 am on Jan. 3, 2002) (Edited by AndyJ at 2:11 am on Jan. 3, 2002)

I agree, there's definately something wrong here. I built myself a new base unit for my xmas pressie and I'm getting these errors both with the boxed Gold Edition/Red Hammer upgrade and the 1.4 upgrade. Took me about 30 attempts untill I finally got an  install up to 1.40... can't wait for the next upgrade.... LOL. The only way I could upgrade from the RH CD was to manually copy all the files into my OPFP folder then run the upgrade on the CD - this then eventually passed the verification... Even tried disabling DMA on the HD & DVD drive but that made no difference. On the upgrade & the 1.40 update it would typically fail on the larger files, Data.pbo, Data3d.pbo, 1985.pbo and most frequently on Redhammer.pbo. e.g. Verifying Operation Flashpoint, version 1.30... Error found in file DTA\HWTL\Data.pbo (b86ac2d4!=0f694b5c) Operation Flashpoint: Updating version 1.30 to version 1.40... Operation Flashpoint patch 1.40 has been applied successfully. My System spec is: Dual Athlon MP1800+ on Tyan TigerMP mobo 1gig pc2100 ram GeForce3 Ti500 SBLive Audigy IBM 60g 7200rpm UDMA100 HDD MT1316 BDV212B IDE DVD drive Plextor 40x SCSI CD drive Plextor 12/4/32 SCSI CDRW drive Advansys ultra-SCSI controller SMC (Realtek RTL8139) 10/100Mbps LAN WinXP Pro I've tried installing from my IDE DVD drive and two SCSI plextor CD drives - all gave errors. My old system used the same CD drives (but was just a PII-400 running win98) and that seemed ok having successfully updated to the stand alone 1.30 update.  So I'm not swallowing the 'bad cd drive' excuse either! Other games & sofware installs just fine. As a software programmer I find it 'interesting' that a patch can complete successfully despite reporting errors. Oh, and one last thing... when you get a warning and click the 'abort' button.... it ploughs on regardless... doh... Great game, but please sort the patches out!
