Its amazing how a thread about conscripted child soldiers has tranformed into a US 2nd amendment debate. WTF..Over? If you were to go around and ask most US gunowners. Even us "gun nut" types. we would well agree with you that children have no place in a combat zone. If i have a child and he/she wants to shoot my AKM or M4 i would be more then happy to teach them how to handle the weapon. For defense? what about fun? I think shooting is fun. Firearm ownership is a responsibility, but you can not teach responsibility in a void. Only through excersising it can it be so. Sometimes im glad i dont live in Europe with their excessive overprotective control freak attitude. It would be stiffling.

why is it that the democrats seem to not like democracy?<span id='postcolor'> well, it's still the vote by ppl, so it is democracy. "demo" comes from Greek meaning "mass" or "people" and "cracy" meaning "rule of". so democracy is where ppl rule not a dictator. this doesn't say how it will be implemented as long as people can hold politician's fate.<span id='postcolor'> The USA is not a democracy - it is a republic. A truly democratic system would mean that each and every eligible voter would create and enact the laws of the land. This is not what happens in America. The people vote for representatives to create and enact laws for them. In straight-up political theory, there are two types of representatives. 1 - the representative who acts exactly in accordance with the majority opinion of his/her constituency. 2 - the representative who acts according to his or her own beliefs, doing this based on the logic that he or she was elected based on his or her own moral values and wisdom, even if it does not always coincide with the views, beliefs and morals of the body politic. As you may know, the 2nd type of representative is what the vast, vast, vast majority of American politicians are at every level, from local to national. And as for Democrats and Republicans, the names are quite misleading. Democrats don't necessarily favor democracy and Republicans don't necessarily favor a republic - they're just patriotic names for political organizations. "Democracy" and "Republic" are very treasured words to Americans, even if they don't know what they mean. They are just very old buzz words. You could call them the Pink and Purple parties and they would be no different.<span id='postcolor'> RIGHT ON!! Why do people concentrate on the Popular vote, but ignore the existance of the Electoral vote????

AK-47, AKM, VZ-58, AK-103 use the M43 cartridge, the 7.62x39mm (Ballistically similiar to the 30-30 deer cartridge commonly used for medium game hunting) AK-74, AK-108, AN-94 use the 5.45x39.5mm. Similiar to the .222rem mag and 5.56mm There are a couple of Russian AK's chambered in 5.56mm in the AK-100 series, but i have forgotten which ones they are. The Bulgarian SLR's and Yugoslavian Zastava's are similar to the Russian AK's. East Germany and China also made clones such as the Chi-Com type-56 carbine AK
-
The AK-47 CZ is actually supposed to be a VZ-58 (now for sale in the US built from old imported parts kits ) This carbine is different from the Kalishnikov weapon interanally. Only the general outline of the weapon and the Mag are the same. M4 is pretty much like the CAR-15 and the XM-177 (Colt Commando) except that it has the flat-top A3 upper reciever and a 14.5" semi-heavy barrel with a stepdown to the old barrel thickness of the M16a1 to accept the M203. The M4 barrel is also better throated to improve feeding of the cartridges like on the C8. Most CAR-15's that i have seen (like with the IDF and USAF) have 16" barrels opposed to the 10.5" barrel of the XM-177. Both the CAR-15 and the XM-177 have barrel thickness of the orignial M16a1. Should be able to mount the M203 on a CAR-15 NP I know what the difference is between the HK G36 and G36K, but what model is it that does not have the built in optic, but irons and the picatinny rail between? I like this version the best as an optic should not be built in IMHO. Madmedic???

A lovely rifle for targets out to 500-700 yards.  Nice and solid (its all wood and steel, no plastic) so it doesn't break, not as heavy as its older cousin the garand, simple easily adjusted iron sights, and it CAN take a scope OK.  Twenty round mag, snaps in nice and easy.  Easy to disassemble and clean.  Forget full auto, for a pure shooter, this is the rifle to have.  Its why some of the SEALs still use it.  The Navy still has them, I've seen pictures of sailors on security detail in the current war carrying them.  The Navy loves that rifle!  I'd love to get my hands on an M1A1 super national match rifle (civvy version of the M-21).<span id='postcolor'> Have you ever seen a picture of a Polymer stocked M-14/M1a broken? In person? Todays Polymer stocks are just as durable, if not more so then wood. I have however seen plenty of split and cracked wooden stocks. Scope mounts on the M-14 are too high. This is why the M-21 has an adjustable cheek piece so that you can get a comfortable cheek weld. The M-14 is a very nice rifle. I do like the iron sights Keep in mind that the reason the Navy uses the rifle is because its what they have in store. Not to say they would choose something else, just keep that in mind.

A 15 year old teenager firing a rifle at you is still a combatant. I'd shoot as i'd consider my ageing azz to be worth more as well as any fellow comrades. Their "innocents" flees them the moment they engage to kill YOU!!

As far as accessories go the FN FAL has more that i have seen then the G3. Check DSA website for more details. I like the Galil too, but the FAL is more user friendly. I would however pick the Galil over the Yugoslavian or other russian styled AK's simply because of the sights. Tangent sites are not as good as peep sights IMHO. Plus the Galil has a thumb operable safty. Another .308 battle rifle (not assault rifle like AKM) that we forgot is the Sig 240. I vote FAL (metric over inch pattern L1a1)

Choose wich pistol you feel the most comfortable with. If your stuck with just the lame .380 i'd recommend buying +p's and choosing a pistol that holds more rounds. ___ I used to own a Walther PPK and could shoot a 5" group at 20yards. Thats not bad accuracy at all. IMHO Maybe you were just using crappy ammo. Not all ammo manufacturers consistantly load their ammo wich has a negative effect on accuracy.
-
Its really hard to say. The accuracy between all of the above will vary depending on brand of manufacture/model etc. M14-Very reliable. Excellent Iron sights. Not good for scope mountin IMHO. There is a pistol grip stock out there for more ergonomic handling as well as light weight polymer stocks. Not a good platform for selective fire. During Vietnam FA converted M14's suffered cracked recievers. G3 (HK)-Good sights, but i like the M14's better. Can more comfortably be fitted with a scope. Does not have a bolt-hold open on last shot like the FN FAL (L1a1). Also the mag release button is too far forward. Is known to have more recoil then M14 and FAL. Stock is uncomfortable. FN FAL (L1a1)-Better ergonomics then the other two IMHO. Gas regulation setting make adopting the rifle to certain loads easier. Scope mounting works great. Good irons, but not as good as M14. Bolt hold open on last shot.-some models do not, but can easily be modded for this feature. Can handle FA fireing and the "sand groove" cuts on the bolt help make this on of the most reliable Battle Rifles. AR10 (SR25)-beefed up M16 in 7.62x51mm. Light weight. Excellent accuracy, but propably not as reliable as others above though. The SR25 and AR10(T) are more cost effective then the HK PSG-1 IMHO. (The SR25 costs about $3,000+ vs $10,000 for the PSG-1) AR10(T) and the SR25 are both capable of SUB MOA accuracy.

I own an XBOX. Has never failed me unlike Microsofts other software. Alot of games on XBOX are third party, not produced by MS. If your going to boycott MS products then you should be using MAC pc's. I do not plan on getting OFP for XBOX simply due to the lack of addons and why buy same game twice?

Bush is just doing what the anti-semitic, anti-US United Nazi's did'nt want to do. what good are UN resolutions anyway? What do terms of surrender mean to the UN? Appeasement does not work. Only the threat of force and the will to use will stay the killers hand. Im not happy with the campaign finance reform bill, nor the Patriot act as an intrusion to privacy. So i cant say i support Bush on all matters. But watching all the anti-freedom marxist hippies come out of their closet only helped make my decision for me in supporting the war. I cant wait to vote for the lesser of two evil come 2004. And i know Hillery Clinton wont recieve a vote from me.

I only have dial-up too. small games are fine. I played capture the flag the other night with no lag. Madmedic. if you want to play some small spec ops type game. we could whip somethin' up. I too want to play coop style. quake should be left to quake. I should probably ask this in the Multiplayer section, but what is the limit of the 56K in MP? when i played the other night there were about 8 other people and everthing was fast. How much would AI enabled soldiers slow the game down?

I've seen pictures of the M4 ingame as well as US armor. They have a nice list of Russian and Chi-com vehicles. Im glad they added 1st person. Now they need to add weapon view like AA. There will be modding utitilies downloadable fromt their website after release. I hope vehicles have 1st person and reticle views too. As well as Commander, Driver, Gunner, and loader. I say this game looks promising. The multiplayer may be better then OFP. BIS really needs to release Independance Lost when Soldner is released.-if not before
-
Swiss citizens can also own selective fire weapons.-They are their military. I dont know what the laws are in international waters, but it might be possible to own whatever you want on the ocean. My guess is that the UN would'nt allow it.-not that they would do anything about it except talk.

I dont reccomend bump fireing unless you live in a truly secluded area. its too difficult to properly control your weapon since your not aiming it or shouldering it. -- Thats cool madmedic! By the way i just got my home PC online and played a little last night. Do you host any games? most players were just playing caputure the flag or deatmatch. I want to play through an actual mission.

I own AR15's and AK's and i dont shoot small animals for the hell of it as well as alot of other firearm owners that i know. As far as "play"ing with firearms. That would have to be defined. As long as you are sure of your backstop and act responsibly, there is nothing wrong with blasting off a case of ammo. There are a few people who visit Gun boards from Finland and they have some nice weapons too and i dont mean hunting rifles. (like MG42's and PKM's) From what i read in their posts is that in order to obtain them they have to do pretty much the same as we do with our class 3 stuff. Selective fire weapons were restricted in the US in 1934. Not banned as many seem to think. Selective fire weapon were banned for futrue manufacture for civilians by the Gun Control Act of 1986. This does not mean that civilians cannot buy the ones already in circulation. A full auto AK currently goes for about $8000 US dollars (a far cry from 50 bucks in some 3rd world) and an M16 close to same. I would have to pay a $200 dollar transfer tax and go through an extensive background check with the BATF and get a signature from a local authority such as a Sherif. Full-auto weapons and silencers are legal in 35 states. I would'nt want to live in the other 15 states for obvious reasons. (high taxes, crime, corrupt politicians) Those are some nice reticlues. They need to be released for OFP.
