Wow, I couldn't believe it when I fired it up (by the way, i got my copy in pasadena at http://www.interactcd.com) . The sounds of gunfire are bad. My game crashes to desktop after 30 minutes (memory leak maybe?)...ugh.. come on BIS....

I've been following this website for a while know, checking to see if there's anything new. Â Originally, they were provided a sizeable grant to develop simulations for the military to aid in training. Some of the early pictures I saw either on their site or in their newspaper, showed operationflashipoint-type graphics on a large wall and the soldier (real person) stood in front of it and tried to take control of the situation as it changed around him...anyways... I checked back yesterday and it seems they will be releasing a version that they say is not too different from the military version they developed. Â It's called CS-XII. Â " CS XII, the other game, is a PC title in which players lead a company of about 100" There's not much info on the site (and I've included links below to help guide ya through them). SOme Mechwarrior 3 producers have found their way to this project. Institute for Creative Technologies Wired News Article (Oct. 29, 2001) Link to Game Site (not much info except basic requirements..) Â Yesterday I emailed quicksilver, and they responded that they don't have screenshots for distribution yet. Â CS XII, the other game, is a PC title in which players lead a company of about 100 Future Combat (developers) Reuters.com story on game (Oct. 25, 2001)

One thing I'd like to see is a bit more enhanced weather effects. I"m not talking much, either so it should be pretty easy to implement. When it's raining, I can barely see the rain and it doesn't affect visibility much (maybe its just my monitor). But if its raining, I'd like to see a bit more pronounced effects. The thunder sound's pretty weak too. Also, perhaps it's in there already, but I'd like some fog effects, hell it might actually speed up the framerate. The use of fog for example, could make engagements much different. Weapon choices would have to be made based on weather effects. Sniper rifles might not be the weapon of choice for those situation. Ambushes would have to be planned differently than situations where visibility is excellent. It would be nice if these weather effects (rain, time of day, type of day, fog, etc) could be set by the server and not relegate those decisions only to the mission builder. For those winter addon folks, it'd be nice to see some cool snow effects that create limited visibility. One final thing, I think now, there's a potential for some unfairness. To some extent, I think the server should control some of the effects (i.e. smoke, fog, weather, etc). After I patched, my explosion smoke effects were gone and I was wondering why grenades or smoke bombs I threw didn't result in any smoke. This can be "mis"used to someone's tactical advantage. As a CTF'er, I use smoke to mask my approach to flags, or to cover my retreat. Server's should control it. There are options in the OFP preferences to "Lower" the quality of those effects without elimnating them totally and also, those plaeyers with less than stellar systems could lower their resolution too. Anyways, these are just some thoughts...Suma, whatcha think? 14th_Fly

i agree. BIS, also just announced, yet another patch for OF.... not many companies continue the support BIS has with this game... This is "their" product. They developed from it. They can profit from it. and it's in their rights, legally, and otherwise to control who has access to their software. keep up the work!

If there is wind, does it affect bullet trajectory in Oper. Flash?

hah, i'd be the last person to run over a bunny in a tank..hell, i don't even squash bugs. (cows fear me though, because I eat hamburgers like there's no tomorrow). i agree immersion is what makes this game good, and as you recognize, it can excel even more than it does now. .. .

as penance, he should be forced to watch 200 straight hours crocodile hunter repeats a true horror

ad, can i not ever discuss what i think adds to immersion? i enjoy reading the comments, both negative or supportive, on these ideas - it's why i visit this forum. move this to OT or whatever, i woulda messaged you personally about this but i couldn't find out how (and im in a bit of a rush) i think you are going a bit overboard here armour. i don't see any of what i discussed as childish rubbish
