Perhaps it's the pessimist in me, but something tells me that the lack of tools aren't what caused those mod teams to give up...I'm sure their failures are based on deeper-rooted reasons. Personally, I'd still love to get access to the tools. Until then, God knows I have a lot of work that needs to be done before I can even put the tools to use, so I don't mind waiting. Abs exactly my opinion. It is already possible to get your models ingame (still with some litlle limitations). And i think there are so many posers who are just crying around and blaming the mod tools for their incompetence. And Afaik the .p3d files currently used in arma are encrypted anway so there wont be the possibility to edit bis models when bis doesnt releases a converter. I guess that takes already 50% of the "mods" away. edit: typo

depends on how much space do you need. If you really need the 1 tb go for the big one. But if you need less space get the 2*400 and run them in raid 0.

Yes, this bug really exists. Aswell as the wrong normal maps on the dead FR´s. But i am very busy atm and there wont be a bugfix since those bugs are minor and not worth creating a patch.
