Japan controlled the Pacific. The Germans were a threat to Great Britain, which is why the U.S. fought a two theatre war instead of tackling the problems one at a time. I don't doubt that war would have eventually come with Germany, but only after all of Europe fell. <span id='postcolor'> Well, I wouldn't feel confortable of being at war with a country that has the most advanced rocket technology and is just pretty close to manufacturing an atomic bomb. That was the case with ww2 Germany and I think the Allied secret services knew about this stuff.

You guys have a nice life. Oh and by the way, did I mention FUCK YOU.<span id='postcolor'> Well, I think you have now shown your true face, SirLoin. If you cannot express your view without resorting to insults (in this case of the lowest category) that shows that you don't really have any good reasons to support the points you made. This forum will be a better place without people like you.

The problem is when you have to eat that kind of warm delicacies in the summer

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Well, nothing about the Maine can be said for sure, but I doubt it was blown up as part of a big conspiracy to start a war. <span id='postcolor'> I don't think it was the US that blew it up. Probably it was the work of Cuban independentists who wanted to spark a conflict in order to find a way to independence. If I can criticise something here is how the whole event was handled by the US, who was happy to go to war without really having evidence that Spain was responsible for blowing up the Maine. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Saying that is like saying the attacks of September 11th were huge government conspiracies, made in an attempt by arms suppliers to get rich<span id='postcolor'> It's you who says that I didn't even mean to insinuate that the 9-11 events were a government conspiracy. In my opinion, the similarity between 9-11 and the Maine incident is that both events were used as a reason to start a war, not that they are government conspiracies. The irony of it is that just as the US could not prove that Spain sank the Maine, they could not prove that Iraq has links to terrorist organisations.

    The Iraq Thread

Thanks for your replies, Denoir and Darlight. I asked that question because I was having a chat with a friend and I said that the embedded reporters were subject to censorship but he [my friend] claimed that one Swedish journalist, who is embedded in a Coalition unit, said his information is not being censored.... I thought this was a bit odd...

    The Iraq Thread

BTW does any of you guys know if the embedded reporters are subject to any type of censorship? I mean, I know that they cannot disclose information that can compromise the troops, but can the Pentagon let's say not allow them to report how many soldiers die or material losses?

    The Dogs of War

Well, this stop just ocnfirms what iraqwar.ru is being saying now for days, that "At the current level of combat operations and at the current level of Iraqi resistance the coalition may face a sharp shortage of troops and weapons within the next 5-7 days, which will allow the Iraqis to take the initiative. The White House took this conclusion of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff with great concern" For those of you who have not read these Russian analysis check them out here

    The Dogs of War

And yet another biased source (in this case a Russian one) here: you may have heard of it already Russian Thinktank Still, I like to read their comments everyday. These guys claim they have access to military communications and satellites (dunno if it's true), but the truth is that they offer an additional point of view that I think can be valuable if contrasted with other sources. Edit to add: Among other things they claim that "At the current level of combat operations and at the current level of Iraqi resistance the coalition may face a sharp shortage of troops and weapons within the next 5-7 days, which will allow the Iraqis to take the initiative. The White House took this conclusion of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff with great concern" Hmmm makes me wonder if there is some truth in it...

    Landing it on a ship

That's true! It looked as if the chopper was not on the ship but sinking in the sea. I am however impressed that you managed to get aboard....

    Landing it on a ship

So, this is what I tried: I created a custom mission. I placed this large troop transport ship (I think it's called LST) on the water and I spawned as a helicopter. If you have noticed, this ship I am talking about has a platform for helicopter landing. I then tried to land my bird gently ont he right spot, but, alas, the ship would go down with my weight! Â So I ended up sinking the darned ship. I tried again with the same result.... it's a pity this one was not modelled
