I didn't widely test this in ofp but a decently trained soldier can shoot quite accurately up to 100m without using his sights, sometimes even 150m. It's instinctive firing when you come under fire. No time to use the little and cute sight, make sure it's aligned properly, etc. You just shoot 2 rounds at him (unless you don't see him yet... but you'd still shoot twice). Also in realty you always know widely where your gun aims at. If someone don't I wouldn't give him a gun . It's also harder to frag without them, nade launchers are next to useless because BIS didnt include any sights for them.

Time to bump?

I have nearly no clue what you're talking about  . The only thing I know is that I don't have any modem drivers to install but some except drivers for my network card wich is automaticaly installed when I installed winXP. I guess it was installed in C:\windows when it installed it automaticaly. I had not that much trouble lately (using the IE trick) except crashing my car in a tree when the connection works again. I have been playing more and more Raven Shield lately because of this (NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! ). Gotta fix that soon or at least hear good news from someone *cough*BIS*cough* other than mrlogik. Even if we all appreciate your hard work on this it would still be nice to hear that it will be fixed in next patch. This said the computer illiterate stop loosing their hair with all these workarounds attemps .

I didn't get any reply except the automatic reply that said that he read my message. Have faith people, I'm sure they are looking into it but it would be nice if the ofp gods give us a sign .

I got an idea, remove internet playing capability and keep only lan. Play in lan parties and when a cheater is found kick him out and destroy his computer! lol ok this wasn't my idea, I remembered a movie I saw on a guy that cheated in a CS lan party. That was so hilarious, seeing the guy trying to get back what's left of his case. Seriously, I don't see anything more effective than banning cheaters. It's not so hard to see who is cheating and who is not.

I've seen this several times but I didn't do as much testing as you did to find this stuff out. I still managed to figure out that it is anoying . -
Frame setting reduces the number of polys in farther objects. In other words farther objects will be less detailed and by doing this the frame rate will increase as you increase the frame rate setting. All these settings you will find in game options and in advanced options are more like try and see till you reach a good compromise between performance and visual quality. We can't really give you a "magic" setting. I think your card will suport hardware t&l but I'm not sure, it's been a while since I used my gf2 mx . If it doesn't work use Direct 3d. The good thing in T&L is, if I remember right, that the lighting effects will we done by your graphic card instead of your cpu. In ofp the cpu is highly used so if you don't give it work that your graphic card could do it will increase performance for other things. Multitexturing use higher detailed ground textures around your player. It looks better like this so leave it on unless you have too much perfomance troubles. You'll have to try and see like I said before. W-buffer is an alternate depth buffer. The primary buffer would be Z-buffer. I heard the z-buffer sometimes can have some problems in rendering stuff over long distances so w-buffer is suposed to be better for the Geforce series. I didn't see any difference but I just leave it on. Always leave cloudlets on. If you turn them off it will not display any smoke or any explosions. In resistance try reducing the texture resolution in advanced settings. You don't have enough memory to use the higher texture resolution. Even if you get more memory I'm still not sure the graphic card would like high texture resolutions . This may help with the choppy performance you get. Turn off auto drop down, I heard that it uses too much cpu power so overall you loose more performance.

Yeah a good PS is really important. The one I had with my case wasn't so bad but when I started to overclock my stuff quite a lot it started to had some major problems with the 3.3v. I didn't wait till my PS just melt down and changed it to a enermax 350w. All the voltage settings are incredibly stable so as my system.

My ISP connection is never killed. I don't have to connect to the ISP server when I boot my computer. My modem connected 24/7 just waiting for me to use it. In my case it has no relation with this. It's not doing it in 1.46 and - and I still had my router back then when I was playing this version. There is a real problem there, with the game.

I don't see anything bad in the concept of targetting. Of course having a yellow square is bad and having the possibility of targetting unrevealed targets is even worse. I just understood how I was always getting killed from about 2km out in my spawn with an AA missile when I just lifted off with my chopper for 5 secs. Anyway realistic targetting could be done using reference points like buildings, roads, etc. It would sound like "reference point church, ennemy soldier at 4 o' clock". This is one of the ways it's done in the military. As my target designation skills are a little rusty I'm not gonna talk about other designation methods since I could not be 100% right about those. Anyway it's easy to understand what to do when your ldr assings you a target. Of course I'm speaking for infantry purposes, I could hardly say for armor and arty since I'm not into that. The bad part is that I hardly see how this could ever be implemented in ofp and it could also be harder to learn than a nice ennemy at 12 o' clock + clock indicator.

Happened several times that I made some AIs empty nearly a clip before I kill them . Ok, they got me a couple times too .

I have two cards ; but which one is more powerful?

Your poll says R9500 = 128mb Ti4200 = 64mb That might be because of this... But maybe you were also thinking about the R9000 wich is crappier than a ti4200 but I think the R9500 is a little better (but is it too expensive for what you get?). -
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Nyles @ Jan. 31 2003,12:59)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Now we just need AI that doesn't bail out before the player and which attempts to land a heli with engine failure just like this when being pilot. Â <span id='postcolor'> That and some kind of warning light and/or sound that tells us when engine fails cuz most of the time when I hear it slow down it's too late to do it .

I've been testing that IE thing and it seems to work I don't know why tough... Maybe it's a coincidence but I had many yellow squares and only got disconnected once.
-
I'm using a firewall but I don't understand why it would cause this but I guess I could try turning it off even if I don't like to do this... My ISP gives me an IP that almost never change so ppl who have nothing to do can try hacking my computer if I turn it off. It happened before luckily I was there when it happened so the hacker was not able to do any real damage. One thing is sure is that I'm gonna try that IE thing, hope it'll work.

Yesterday I was able to play several hours without getting disconnected but I don't know exactly how much time. I'd say it was about 2-3 hours. I played big games on BF1985 some co-ops with a fair amount of ppl and it went fine. I tought that I would have to pay back sometime later for the games I was able to play and I had to . We were only 3-4 playing a small co-op on SHoP and I was getting disconnected every 5 minutes or less. This is weird I didn't change anything in my network setup. It's now even more unclear what is the problem... Hope someone will find how to fix it soon enough cuz resistance is eventualy gonna suck (at least for those who have that problem).
-
I tought I might add... -SMC 10/100mb PCI card -cable modem We don't have the same ISP, I'm on Videotron cable (it's getting crappier but it's not related). It's not ISP related I'm sure of that. What I tought of was my crappy router, router or guess what... I'm gonna try connecting my computer directly into the cable modem to see what it does. Even if it could work I shouldn't have to do this since it worked in 1.46. Maybe someone at BIS should look into this, I'm sure were more than 2 having this problem... I see quite often messages like ******** is loosing connection. I think farmcoot[sHoP] has the same problem but I didn't really talked with him about that. So now were 3, is it enough to do something about it . If there is already a way to fix this well shouldn't it be posted in troubleshooting faq? I'm sure were not only 2-3 who are getting pissed off by this.
