    Standard bug fixes...

thats what will make arma so much better not to mention that it will look prettier and have decent multiplayer although the indoor combat still has me a little worried - i do hope that they prove the sceptics wrong

detailed CQB sized maps - a discussion

I dont understand what everyone is so negative about battles are fought in major cities - therefore Arma as a military simulation must include that type of combat just as it included armoured warfare, rural infantry warfare and special forces combat leat it be considered unfinished whether the engine can handle it or not is an unanswered question but if it is capable, then BIS have no excuse not to include urban centres as combat environments

rubbish - the model is skinned not a mere render its missing a secondary gun for some other reason probably because there wasnt one in the modellers reference pictures

    Running faster while straffing

I never encountered that bug - strafing was always painfully slow in the game, maybe even too slow - the reaction time just seemed too relaxed :|

    Walking around on ships?

well when you put it that way yes that sounds cool - very cool i wouldnt hate Arma for not including those ideas but damn they would be amazing if they were included - boarding enemy vessles etc.

detailed CQB sized maps - a discussion

I think many of you are missing the point here cqc does not mean smaller maps - it means more points of contact, fewer open spaces like those in a city no cities are what armies seek to capture so it would be madness not to include them in Arma just because operation Flashpoint didnt have any real urban combat does not mean that the purists should have their way and keep it the same because ArmA is a brand new game whatever way you want to look at it Now urban areas are what everyone is familiar with, its where the majority of us live, recent wars in Iraq etc. were seen on the evening news in dusty cities like Basra, Fallujah and Baghdad - it is the environment we are most familiar with so why should it not be included most ridiculous comment ever - armed assault will gain nothing and the gamer by extension will gain nothing if BIS cater to the opf snobs only

Well I was very impressed by OpF on the Xbox so I hope that we will see a huge leap forward from that level when we see Arma

pfft elitism in the opflash community? a game developer should try to appeal to the widest possible demographic when selling his product and this is one way of going about it and particularly as the most intense battles in history are fought over and in cities it would be ridiculous not to include them If Arma arrives and i'm fighting constantly in the countryside or pseudo-villages as there were in Opflash then I will feel that I got a half finished product and I will not be alone

yeah i agree, the sky box needs work i'm curious to know that if Game 2 and Arma are using the exact same engine, why are the Game 2 shots floating around far superior to the Armed Assault ones? Doesn't make sense to me -am i missing something?

I thought that the VBS AI was very adept in urban combat - they would stay under cover and spread out well

yeah its here Arma Teaser The screenshots are nice but still alot of work to be done - soime criticisms in the pics below Discuss..

    AI slots

That they won't do. They've already got individual AI's sorted out, why would they degrade to a lower level? because it would make the game run better - allowing them to include more npcs etc. I doubt they will, but coding ai is very difficult, possibly the most difficult part of any game and BIS will find shortcuts if they can and i wouldnt blame them - i just hope that the ai presents a realistic challenge

detailed CQB sized maps - a discussion

well said it is merely an observation that having cqc on infantry/urban maps will help appeal to a wider demographic of gamer - which will hopefully benefit everyone

    Walking around on ships?

i would imagine that the most effective way of handling that would be to have hot keys for movement from passenger to gunner in say a humvee anyhow, how realistic is it to be manning several gun positions at once besides more than likely you will not be a sailor in game
  18. -kelet0r

    Walking around on ships?

it wouldnt really be of any gameplay advantage to be able to move around on a ship ingame - preferably i actually just want to see boats in armed assault, little rigs, landing craft etc.

    VoIP?

yeah the old opflash voice chat is still superior in concept to that in most online games today - hopefully Arma will only improve on it
  20. -kelet0r

    AI slots

Well i hope they don't cheat and give the squads a group ai only at the expense of individual AI

detailed CQB sized maps - a discussion

There seems to be huge demand for close quarters combat set in an urban environment right now - probably because it is the environment most people live in and cqc is far more visceral than wide open warfare Counterstrike and the current map preferences in bf2 bear witness to this so Armed Assault should not neglect this area of multiplayer especially
