  1. I understand that the MANPADs can fire from several kilometers away in real life. But in real life Attack choppers and fighter jets can engage targets way further away than is portrayed in arma. They scaled down the range of the aircraft based weapons for gameplay. The island was too small to have 1:1 modeling of weapon range. Thus, I was just saying that since they scaled the range for aircraft down, they should scale the range for MANPADs down also.

  2. Quote[/b] ]With regards to the strela, you can out maneuver it. Mabey you need more practice?

If you can out maneuver a strela in this game, you are the man. I have never seen it done before. The sidewinders/stingers/strelas all seem to be the same though.

  3. Does anyone else think that the strelas/stingers are too powerful in ArmA?

    1. They are dead accurate. It's almost impossible to miss once you have a lock. In RL, MANPADs have a pretty low hit rate.

    2. No lock tone. You have no idea if somebody is targeting you or not. You're flying one second and PHEW! explosion the next.

    3. No countermeasures. Your chopper/plane has no flares or chaffs. There is no way to evade a fired missile.

    4. Long range. You get locked from very far away so you can't see the little person holding the MANPAD. You might see a smoke trailer but it's too late by then heh

I think they should at least decrease the accuracy of the MANPADs a little or add a locktone so you can haul ass outta there. At least give pilots a chance!

  4. I usually play Evo and other co-op maps. Last weekend, we gave berzerk a shot. It was a server huge server with 50+ people. Major chaos! No teamwork what so ever, just individual people running around like they were playing CS. I think when you go pubbing, Evo is a lot easier to coordinate with other people.

I mean, unless you play PvP on a organized league with clan members, your not going to get much teamwork or coordination

  5. Quote[/b] ]They are working fine, 100% certain mate.

not really, because after installing RC3 I have no tracers - most of the time. Seems buggy now, if I spawn myself in a aircraft like a AH6 or a A10, I get no tracers. If I spawn myself as infantry sometimes I have tracers sometimes I don't. Seems very random.

And yes I have it installed correctly, I have the @SIX_Tracer folder and the @SIX_Misc folder in my arma directory as well has the hpp files in the dta folder.

  6. Seem like I'm not the only person who doesn't want the MISC addon. I just want the tracers, and now after RC3 the tracers dont even work. Its get more and more complicated after every release. Now I have to install dta files and MISC files and whaa..? I dont need this stuff like configuring custom tracers in SP. I just want the tracers and thats it. I'm going to go back to beta RC6 - it was a MUCH better release. It was simple and it worked.

I can't complain and moan because I ought to be greatful for what your doing for us - for free.

But I just wanted to state my opinion.

  7. I have to say I'm pretty happy with the GAU8 on the A10 at the present moment. BIS did a great job simulating the weapon. However, I have one major gripe.

    The accuracy is too low!

The bullet spread is equal to that of the M134 miniguns on the AH6s and UH60s, so practically you cannot engage and destroy a T72 with one one second burst from over at least 600-800m.

The GAU8 is a bigger version of the M61 which is a bigger version of the M134. Thus, the accuracy gets higher with the size of the gun.

    M134 barrel length - 0.55m

    GAU8 barrel length -6.5m

So, shouldn't the GAU8 have a much tighter bullet group than the miniguns that literally "spray" bullets everywhere?

In real life the effective range for the GAU8 is 1400-1700m. We are getting about half of that in the game.

I always try to only use 2 bursts on T72s and one burst for every other vehicle to take out as much armor as possible before returning to base.(It is possible to kill a t72 in one burst but that means getting REALLY close) This means getting dangerously close to the targets before engaging, so I make sure at least half of my 1 second burst hits the target. (1 second burst in 70 rounds, so thats 35 hits per burst)

    What do you guys think?

heres an interesting GAU8 mini documentary

I was playing and having fun in Evo 3.0 on the badonline.net server. Then suddenly some a$$hole joins the server and decides to drop a hack bomb.

Infinite numbers of civilians started spawning at the base armed with RPGs and strelas and start blowing everybody up. We had 40 or so people in there having fun, with only 3 more cities to go and this when the hack bomb was dropped. The sheer number of civilians at the base started bogging down the server and everybody got horrible lag. After about 15 minutes of the base raping madness, the screen blacked out for everyone and it said presented to you by TKC Inc. Then Huge explosions started going off in the base blowing everything up.

This is the point where I left, and so did most other people.

We are not sure but we think it was done by a guy called Masheedomarhassan (or something like that).

Why do people do this?? Do they think its funny? It ruined my Evolution session and probably a lot of other peoples' too.

    Anybody know about this hack?
