i totally agree that these effects would be really cool (and , to some point , immersion-increasing) , but they are not needed now ... arma does have enough immersion for me now . example : made a quick spec ops mission , infiltration by boat , west of arcadia , i had some smaller squads and two-man groups patrolling in this area (thx to kronzky's amazing patrol script) so , lil me was stepping thorugh the woods , grabbing my binocs every 50 meters ... since the area was huge and i didnt know where the enemy was , i got less patient and finally just kept running ... but out of the nothing an rpg came out of a group of bushes and extactly hit my medic ... gnarf ... seemed that a bigger squad found me ... we got totally f****ed up ..... the surprising thing : they came from behind ... they somehow managed to flank me ... i think the AI increases immersion much ... not the AI of a single enemy , but the collective behaviour of them . as far for theeffetcs ... i did not play ofp (only the demo) , but from what ive seen , the community seems to be great and well see many mods ...

a little composition of two of my thousands of lil skirmish-missions in the first one i used zerg's woodland camo , as you may notice : and the second one, a little airport assault on rahmadi .... sim sorry thast u dont get to see the airport but i sometimes get shredded by the shilkas before the cobras arrive ----- i used the tropentarn mod v1.03 and the ISSF-stab and ksk-mod , dunno who did it : -

does it have "open fire, engage at will" in its battle-behaviour ?? sometimes my ah6's own the enemy-armor in eponia sometimes they get banged hard by the shilkas or infantry-aa ... or give it a wider placement-radius -
isnt open-al some kind of sound-driver i'. able to play with 1280x1024 with shading on high , shadows on low , blood on low and aa on normal ... the rest is all on high + not to forget viewdistance on 1200 .... depends on the server , but im usually playing with very fluent framerates .. didnt check with fraps , though my sys : amd athlon64 3000+ sapphire x1900xt 512mb 1gig (2x512mb) dualchannel ram

gnarf my athlon 64 3000+(1.8ghz) is then a huge bottleneck to my x1900xt (512mb)

i dont know know any fps in which the optics reflect the actual ballistics nor the behaviour of the real weapon .... so

i got an athlon 64 3000+ and a x1900xt with 512mb gpu memory and 1 gig of ram ... ~3549 points in 3dmark06 ... since ive read in here that arma is a game whose perfomance depends much on the graphiccard i trully hope its really so ... so anybody has a similar system ??
