    ... little update i think the 8000 polies wont get reality .. maybe ill be set with 8900 or so ... 6200 a the moment no interior, no tail-rotor , no weapons maybe somebody already noticed it : the complete engine area , the main-and tail-rotors are all the same ... ( except some very little differences ) would it be legal to take , for example , the super cobra's tail and make it part of an similar addon ?? soo .. enough from my conspiracy theories ... heres the pic

    ... so i think i know what im gonna do now ... but for now : wireframe and render without any smoothing groups ps : one question : for some reason my selected polies wont get all red ... only the edges get marked red ... im a little bit concerned about that , since i dont know what i could have messed up ...

    there is no meshsmooth  i made the round shapes by relaxing and autosmoothing important selections

    so , after several tryies to make a decent looking exhaust systen for the engine , i finally got that characteristic uber-high hook done ... i know im very slow , and the result isnt very promising so far , but when im deeper into 3ds max and game-design  , i will definitely redo the whole model ... ~3200 polies so far

    ... oh , then i was sitting on some false info all the time ...  @ abs :there are currently ~1780 polys i think ill be under 8000 when the interior, the rotors and the bigger details  are done

    left click on the viewport-name in the upper left corner and check "show statistics" if tehy dont appear , then go to : customize/viewport configuration/ statistics / check "frames per second" maybe this feature isnt available in 3dsmax 8 ... they were shown since the the very first start on my pc ehh and for the pics ... : i knew i forgot something ... edit : i updated the images ...

    ... i just like its design ... after this one im going to make the osprey although the program is dead (i think ) there are just so much nice things that didnt get reality for some odd reasons like : too expensive , too unneccessary (spelling ?) and so on anybody knows the TBCH mounted on a 22mm rail system ?? mayba ill do one when im bored ...

    i'm currently trying to make the uh-1n iroquois , maybe known from screenies of game2 ... (could take some time , since im a total noob with uber-high expectations for my products )

    i did that before , but im getting the same amount polies , adn not a half-as-good-looking result ... mhm ill have to play arround more @ general : im getting nice results with meshsmooth on lowpoly objects if they are curvy (like this nose) , i think its all a question of density of your mesh i'm going to check BIS's models to get an idea of their level of detail ... would be even nicer to have a wireframe-screenshot of the mi-17 for example

    so is modeling with meshsmooths to poly-pregnant for arma ?? cause making a nose of an uh-1n iroquois i freakin difficult (for a bloody 3ds-max-noob like me ) if u want to deal with low amounts of polygons ... heres my nose ~700 polies , i think (ms'ed with 1 iteration)

    ... reading all this one question comes to my mind : (or maybe 2 ...) 1. Is modelling an model in the new oxygen more intelligent than making it in 3dsmax and then export it to oxygen ? 2. How much effort is it to convert a 3dsmax model into the contrapart of oxyegn , so that it works ?

    ... which has every  forum i know ...  im trying to get used to 3d-modelling atm ... and i wont rest until i have a working v22 osprey inserting troops in arma ... c ya in ~3 years ... ( ) ps : 3d-modelling looks darn difficult , and in fact it is , but its like gimp .. reading some tuts and stuff helps a lot ...  Â

    i am currently trying to understand blender ... but i dont even know if this program is able to produce the right files ... or convert these then with tools or such .... ..knowing trhat 3dsmax is the non-plus-ultra atm , i searched and found some site saying the version for pupils costs ~130€ and it has a 12 moths subscription then ... what does this actually mean for me ??
