I hope you choose the hemispherical one which is the real for plane eject. We can use other addon for commandos use. A good thing ll be remplacing the chopper eject by a surviving crash... (sorry for my very bad english ) I'm pretty sure that's already in it... if you are not flying that too high and aren't blown up by the AA hit, sometimes you survive. I was playing a map that I had been messing around with in the editor when it happened, a Mi-24 was flying not too high above the ground and was hit by a AA. The engine died but the helichopter itself was not destroyed. I trashed into the ground but did not explode and the two pilots jumped out. I'm not sure how survivable a helichopter crash is, but I remember watching a video of a Mi-24 getting hit by a Igla in Chechnya. From what I saw the engine was taken out, but it didn't fall out of the sky like a rock, instead, it autorotated down to the ground. I don't think that the autorotating thing exists if that's what you mean.

I was just wondering if it would be possible to swap out the 9K32 Strela for the 9k38 Igla, someone is making one in the addons discussion. The Igla is what the Russians currently use, Americans still use the Stinger, but an updated version.

yes, exept that RBS70 isnt shoulder launched, it´s mounted on a support and has radar and IFF reciver and stuff like that but yes, it is a AA missile wich can engage ground target if needed btw, RPG can also engage air targets even though it is a shoulder held AT weapon (my point here is that most weapons can do things they are not designed for more or less successful, it´s all about the one using it) I just found it odd that the AT weapon was better than the AA weapon

Yes, for use against helicopters

I'd have to agree

For me, OFP made me interested in Russian weapons, especially small arms. I now know a lot about small arms in general and plan on getting some soon. I've always been interested in military stuff since I was little, but OFP just reinforced that. I haven't bought any other games since OFP:R and still play it, but in SP, since online play seems to have died , but ArmA should fix that It was kind of funny once, I went to a presentation being given by an AF intel officer, and he showed some pictures of some Russian made jets, I just happened to identify the SU-25 "Frogfoot" when it showed up on the screen.

now have those guys stand in front of those green bushes, woodland doesn't mix in well with fields of dry grass

Yes, the AK-74 is more accurate than the AKM and AK-47. The AK-74 uses the 5.45x39mm cartage whilst the AKM and AK-47 use the 7.62x39mm(not the same as 7.62x51mm NATO) cartridge. The 5.45 has a higher velocity than the 7.62 which causes it to have a flatter trajectory (it shoots more like a straight line, not as much drop). The 7.62x39mm has a lower velocity than the 5.45x39mm, but also has twice the mass, which is why it drops faster than the latter. (from left to right) 5.45x39mm, 5.56x45mm NATO (.223 cal, although not exactly the same), 7.62x39mm, 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 cal), some freak caliber, then 12.7×99mm NATO (.50 cal) AK-74s are known to have very little recoil which is very good for follow up shots, however, the 7.62x39mm AKs have better punch to them. I hope to have one in the future, semi-auto civilian version, but I'm working on getting a semi-auto Romanian AKM

Sad but true, hopefully in ArmA they change the way explosions inflict damage, it sucks when you're on one side of a house and a grenade goes off on the other and you still end up dead, I don't see how the fragmentation would be able to get to you.

Machinegun thing has been mentioned plenty of time before, but I cant blame you for not wanting to read through 200+ pages to find The Strela thing is a bug in the engine, the way the engine works is that a missile can only lock onto ground targets, or it can lock onto both, theres no aerial only option. You'll notice this with any SAM orr AA missile addon or unit in OFP. I think the grenade belt was mentioned, have to ask TB, but I'd also like to see them return I hope they fix this in ArmA because, I was just testing the Stringer and Javilen against the Mig-29, and the Javilen managed to take it out in one try, while the stinger could not at all I hope they fix that bug in the engine, because it would be nice to have SAM only missiles. Oh, a few things I noticed, but don't know if you knew, if you try to use the mortar (rifle grenade) with the M4, it turns into the M16. Anyway, still super fun to play, and keep up the good work

I remember doing something like this, I took a snapshot at a helo flying pretty high and somehow managed to hit, I'm pretty sure it was in a CTI game. Then there was another time where I was playing an hold and conquer type mission on Nogova and I used a grenade launcher against another player who was running towards me, he was pretty far away, but I managed to hit him, the explosion was right at his feet. I remember him being kind of surprised I made the shot, well, I was too

good point, it is good to have the option, the more the better!

Third person is nice for driving, but there are some things I don't like about it. For example, if third person is enabled, no one uses the hatches on the tanks, since in third person they can see perfectly. If third person was disabled by default in multiplayer, I think it would make people actually use some of the features. I also hate when people in tanks use third person and I am on foot, because they have 270 degree vision without poping the hatch. I rarely see people using the hatch since 3rd person is allowed.

you can already do this(split the people in your squads into different color groups)

I liked/like playing CTF, COOP, and CTI. I don't really care for CTF without vehicles, since there aren't many things to hide behind and , most of the time, everybody are using G36s; iT becomes the most boring/bland/uniteresting thing to play. I also think CTF could use some major changes in the way it is set up. It was kind of screwed up when people started putting buildings in the woods and things like that. There are many things I would change if I were to create my own type of CTI. It also sucks when you have to run half way across the map because there are too many destroyed vehicles on the map.

Dunno if you played that mission with stock BIS units, but that's one of the hardest missions of any game I've ever played... FFUR has improved the AI, but still, 5mins survival sounds about right for first few tries of that mission I did I remember that mission... it took me a while to beat.

couldn't BIS pull the plug on their site (TKC) because they are in violation of the DMCA (http://powweb.com/PowWeb/Company/Policy/DMCA)? Usually just a letter sent to the service provider will make them can the client. If you use google and bypass their agreement form, wouldn't that make you not legally liable?

499Mhz 256MB Ram Radeon 9250 whoa, when I had my 566mhz computer this game lagged pretty badly, when you finally upgrade, you will realize how much it used to suck

you may be asking in the wrong area of this forum, most people probably don't know what you're talking about in here. You may want to go to the mod section or something, but I like your idea, I would love to see something like it. I imagine that ofp watch messed around with the same stuff.

one feature that I think would be an awesome addition to this "virtual world" would be if either side starts attacking the civilians, some of the civilians form an insurgency group, and carry out guerilla tactics against the aggressor, such as IDE attacks. I definitely like the idea of having a living world, with civilians moving all over the place so the islands don't seem so "dead". The only problem I've seen in trying to make living towns in OFP is finding something for the civilians to do other than standing around. If there was someway to make a non-CPU intensive schedule system for the civilians so they can do certain things, I think it might work. It might look something like this: -Farmer bob goes to location "bed" at 21:00 does action "get in bed" -Farmer bob at 06:00 does action "get out of bed" -Farmer bob go to "kitchen table" do action "sit in chair" -Farmer bob at 06:30 does action "get off chair" -Farmer bob go to "Tractor1" do action "get in tractor" -Farmer bob.... it would be nice to do some form of scripting like this, and make generic way point paths in the mission editor so more than one person can use them. This is one thing that I hope ArmA has in general, paths. In the editor you can give specific units/groups way points, but I think it would be very nice to have sets of way points that do not belong to a specific unit/group, so they can be assigned to groups in the scripting. Might make something like the civilian schedule easier and less complicated. Just a thought.

Well, the original OFP engine only support ground-attack planes, the air-fight, especially the dogfight is horrible, even with addons. A-10C - Close Air Support fighter. Good for ArmA, because main role to destroy ground target. F-14 - grounded, out of active duty F-15C - air superiority fighter, air fight not a strong side of the OFP engine F-15E - fighter/bomber, good for ArmA, because it's main role to deliver plenty of bombs F-16 family - multi-role fighter, good for ArmA, because use to attack ground targets (LGB's, JDAM's, Maverick's, etc.) F-18 family - multi-role fighter, good for ArmA, as the F-16 F-22A - air superiority fighter, as the F-15C, not to good for ArmA F-117A - stealth light bomber, perhaps good for ArmA, can be use special operations, not undetectable, just hard to detect Su-25T - Close Air Support fighter. Good for ArmA, as A-10C opponent MiG-29A/B - Air superiority fighter, only good in dogfight, wich is again not a strong side of the OFP/ArmA engine (if the BIS won't change to much) MiG-29C - Air superiority fighter, only several active tough, won't be a good choice Su-27S/SK - Air superiority fighter, equal for early F-15C variants, upgraded F-15C's are better with the AIM-120 AAM's. Not too good for ArmA. Su-30MK/MKI/MKK - Multi-role fighter. Used by India, China and Malaysia, good for ArmA, as F-16/F-18 opponent. Su-33 - Multi-role carier based fighter. Perhaps good for carrier based F-18A/C opponent. Su-35/-37 - Not in active duty, just prototypes S-37/Su-47 - Not in active duty, just prototype MiG 1.42/1.44 - Not in active duty, just prototype Eurofighter - Multi-role fighter. Good for ArmA as the F-18 family Gripen - Multi-role fighter. Good for ArmA, as the F-16 family Mirage 2000 - Multi-role fighter. Good for ArmA, as the F-16 family Rafale - Multi-role fighter. Good for ArmA, as the F-18 family If they do add air superiority fighters I think the F-22 vs SU-47 would be a good match, even though Russia isn't building them, yet (due to lack of money). If ArmA makes use of Air units, having air superiority might be importaint. If they do, someone in an A-10 or SU-25 wont be able to own everyone because they will be vulnerable to such fighters. I'm not sure at this point, but I would sure love to have more things to shoot out of the skies

The one shot you're dead type of deal is why I like OFP so much, I remember playing Farcry and getting really pissed off because I would shoot people in the head like 20 times before they would die, kind of pissed me off. There is definitely a difference between OFP and other FPS, it takes more patients to play, which ADHD TK kids have, so I don't think there will be too many problems with it. I've been TK before online but usually by accident, because there are no friendly markers. All in all, I like OFP for what it is and I hope the JIP will help online play, I must say, it was quite annoying starting a game with 30 people, then only to have 8 after 15 minutes.

Machine guns aren't designed to shoot like a laser, they have a spread pattern. They are used for suppressive fire, not sniping. Just a few bugs I noticed while playing, the t80 or t72 (I forget which) the treadwheels have black rotating squares on them, I think the transparentcy got messed up or something. Anyone else notice this? Also, when you throw the grenades, they disapear after about 5 meters, I'm not sure why, but not really a big deal.
