  1. Serious bugs:

-Visual quality is effected by seemingly 'opposite of intuitive' settings i.e.: Setting resolution higher makes the game run better.

This is more to do with your graphics card than the game. Graphics cards have a "native" resolution in which it was optimised for as it's the generic resolution most games will be played, usually its 1024 x 768 on more recent cards. It's just the way it's designed. You can notice this on many many 3D games, not just ArmA, so considering this an ArmA bug is somewhat unfair.

Sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. A gfx card works no different in 1024 than in 1280 for example. It's all a matter of resources.

  2. Ok update:

I was also getting CD protection errors when running with 4GB of Ram.

I even updated my Nvidia graphics driver to 163-Beta.

It did not solve the issue.

As soon as I removed the 2 GB of additional Ram the game now works flawlessly biggrin_o.gif

I can confirm now that its 4GB ram issue with vista.

I guess Vista users with 4GB or ram need to wait for a patch or remove the extra 2GB sad_o.gif

    I'm running 64 bit Vista

    Nvidia GTS8800

    2.4 GHZ Quadcore.

you could try adjusting the amount of ram that vista recognizes. start -run - msconfig - boot - advanced options - maximium memory. this way you wouldn't have to physically remove the ram and could readjust the ram by changing the amount and restarting vista. i prefer it to yanking ram or dual-booting into a legacy os. <g>

it works for my ati card. i can't say if it'd address any game stability issues that forceware users have from the 4gb.

And that my friends, is the solution. smile_o.gif

    (for now, get going BIS)

  3. I was fully expecting my UK retail copy of Arma to ship with v1.05; this expectation coming from the ArmA website.

However, it actually comes with v1.04. Still better than the demo version but can't wait for more fixes and features.

I was further confused that there isn't a v1.05 thread floating at the top of this board.

When's it expected - no pressure, guys wink_o.gif - and what's going to be in it?

Also, why are there so many servers still running v1.02? Good to see more and more v1.04 servers every day, though!

    -Fenix out.

I also bet you expect your bacon and egg to be ready for you when you wake up in a morning, when infact you really got up to take a leak at 2am.

Alot of people have been waiting months for an update so have some patience. Be thankfull you got a game thats better then 102.

Of course not. I'm grateful for every egg and bacon i get, especially if I paid 39€ for it. whistle.gif

I have never seen so many ass kissers on the same forum at once. It's disgusting.

  4. Maybe its because with AMD dual cores, they are aware of the problems when trying to use both cores (at the same time) and so they only use one core for ArmA. huh.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that the Intel Core2's uses both cores at the same time. Maybe this is the source of the 'lag'. I remember reading about similar (though obviously more pronounced) problems with Dual "Socket" systems when hosting an OFP Server. Bit vague, I know, but it comes to mind! smile_o.gif

If it is correct, can the chip be told to use only one of its cores when running ArmA?

I'd like to find the answer to this as I know some people that are considering a Core2 over an AMD sometime soon.. (I have an AMD x2 4200 at present and it runs great).

    #C

To be able to understand the concept of multiple processors (cores) you must understand how threading and scheduling works. It's kind of pointless trying to explain in a single forum post.

  5. I don't buy that theory. Most of the early ArmA players are so called "first adopters". That is they often buy the latest gadgets. It's more or less natural that the guys who always stays on top of the mountain of hardware also are among the first to snatch a copy of ArmA.

  6. Quote[/b] ]Change language directly in ArmA.cfg
    language="English";

    Arma.cfg says language="English";

    sad_o.gif

Did you use the key you've obtained with the Morphicon download or from the 505 version? The key seems to determine the default language of the game.

Yes that's true. Im using my brothers disc since I bought my version from Morphicon. (I hate starforce, don't speak german and I want 1.04).

Any ideas how to change the language?

  7. Just got the 505 version and installed it. I made sure every trace of my old Morphicon download was gone (searched the registry, deleted old dirs, settings etc.).

To my great horror and suprise the 505 version defaults to german language. I noticed a language setting in the options but i am unable to manipulate it. Any ideas what's wrong? I'm going nuts!

  8. Where can i download that mission you played?

    Hi xpz

The mission is the multiplayer (MP) coop included with the demo. Just download the demo. There are plenty of people playing it. It is always better to play Coop with friends rather than strangers on a public server. Using coms such as TS or ventrilo or the ArmA included VOIP also helps a great deal.

The other thing is to actualy have person in charge

You can also play any MP mission as single player (SP) too by just hosting it on your own machine and setting it to local LAN.

Some missions play OK as single player some dont. The demo coop works well as an SP mission.

The Demo Capture The Flag(CTF) could theoreticly be played SP on a dedicated server by using the Join in Progress(JIP) to control one side and have it assault the other, if doing this you might try handicaping one side with the number of units and set your self other goals such as defend one of the sand bag emplacements. The CTF makes a very good 2 player game as well if you dont like the crowds and enjoy tactical gaming and controling squads.

    Kind Regards Walker

Thanks for the reply. I don't know how i missed that it is a bundled mission in the demo. Must have been drunk or something. banghead.gif

  9. What a load of crap. The english patch was probably the best thing that has ever happened to ArmA. Without it the game wouldn't had the community kick-start it got in right at the release.

So you're saying it's not being used in pirated versions? Only the major OFP fans imported or purchased download versions. The pirated versions floating around the net are coming with the english patch and are getting plenty of downloads (as all pirated games do - especially when they appear on the net before the worldwide release).

You seriously think my whole post is a load of crap? Do some research before making statements like that.

My facts? Where are your facts? With that kind of reasoning you may as well say that addons and user missions helps the piracy scene since anyone can download and use them.

  10. ...

Actually your language patch is mostly being used with pirated versions of ArmA. So it may have reduced sales of the game. I know that wasn't the reason you made the patch, but unfortunately that is how it's being used.
