31st NORMANDY MOD - WW2 Â -BETA RELEASE
wolfbics replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Funny, that was the first thing I thought about when I saw the selection of aircraft in there. On the British side it was the definitive D-day plane, tank busting in Normandy was it's finest moment. Â anyway, just a thought for the future Rip, you have got a ton of stuff going already. http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_hawker_typhoon.html -
31st NORMANDY MOD - WW2 Â -BETA RELEASE
wolfbics replied to rip31st's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Really enjoying playing with thus stuff Rip, a fair bit of the stuff is already well modelled like the Kubelwagen and Opel truck. Splinter camo troops look great and whoever put the tacks on the bottom of those German boots deserves a medal for detail, I agree the Feldgrau are a bit weird at the mo. Tank crews would be a great addition, and the old 'chutes I think mapfact has old style parachutes from Flashpoint in his objects collection. Just a suggestion for future modding in the planes dept, rather than heavy bombers you really need more CAS type aircraft for battlefield use like the Typhoon or Thunderbolt and you certainly need a P-51 -

Fantastic work, yes, I also had the same prob as Belgerot, left track looked like a solid rubber band. I got this when I tried it on the Porto map on it's own, then I put 3 tigers on a desert map and they all looked looked fine.

Lol. no It's an illustration of how they would react if you actually did get permission from Hans Zim and stick it on a two cent game video, I personally have never used the guy but am guilty of using other composers mostly who do game music, yes it's a tricky subject, particularly as theyr'e clamping down on it, anyway lets not dwell too much as the whole video thread is getting derailed. Â

Yes, granted, but I'm trying to picure a scenario where I ask Hans Zimmer for permission to use his music in a video and amazingly he agrees! I stick it up on youtube with permission granted, blah, blah, in the credits and they still remove it as it's obviously a joke in their view. I'm now in a legal battle with youtube involving lawyers to get my video re-instated, all this for an amatuer game video made for my own amusement and no profit. Also the copyright music law gets a bit vague when it comes to games as I see it. Here's what I 've never figured out, lets say I make a gameplay video of say Op Flashpoint with the actual in-game music playing in the background and post it on a site, presumably thats not breaking copyright laws? I then take the same piece of music by the same composer and add it to a video I've made of flight sim X, am I now in breach of copyright because it's not the default music of that game? if I am then the original gameplay video must also be a breach of music copyright simply because I made it public. I mean if you take this down to the Nth degree you probably cant make an in game video without permission?

They specifically said that videos of people just playing games would not be allowed due to bandwidth costs. It should be written in their rules now. Things like trailers should be allowed though. Best to just use a site like YouTube  Yes, that's true, but it's "gameplay" they mean. If you make something that qualifies as "machinima" which admittedly is fairly impossible to define it's OK. A few people have even asked the admin in the forum to check their stuff to see that it qualifies as machinima in their view. The main problem is still that any glimpse of the words Sega, UBI, or any official logo on a movie and it's deemed commercial and deleted, also they actively encourage people in the forum to go around flagging this stuff up and the old hardcore Vimeo users who hate virtual movies anyway are only too happy to do so, particulalry anything that looks like an official game trailer. As for youtube, if they actually made an effort to improve the sound quality to match the new high res visuals or offered HD or unlimited length without being a "director" but for me sound is the main issue it's absolutely terrible. I'm not waving the Vimeo flag BTW I actually prefer blip tv. As per my previous post, youtube are also clamping down on content, here's a post from another forum which is one of two I've seen recently regarding Hans Zim. Got this E-mail today: "Dear kempet, Video Disabled A copyright owner has claimed it owns some or all of the audio content in your video SB Generals vs Panzerbattalion 911 - Jericho. The audio content identified in your video is Hunger by Hans Zimmer. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue. Replace Your Audio with AudioSwap Don't worry, we have plenty of music available for your use. Please visit our AudioSwap library to learn how you can easily replace the audio in your video with any track from our growing library of fully licensed songs. Other Options If you think there's been a mistake, or you have other questions, please visit the Copyright Notice page in your account. Sincerely, The YouTube Content Identification Team"

I was actually starting to hope they were forgetting their own new announced policy..... Lets hope this is not the start of it Any chance the video can be uploaded elsewhere? I would like to see it as well I'll tell you what the problem is with Vimeo it's not the gameplay rule it's that most of you guys put the official BI/ArmA logo at the start of your movies so it looks like a gameplay trailer and anything looking like an official advert for game X or anything else commercial will get removed. On another note I've heard from a lot of people who are increasingly having videos removed from youtube due to music copyrights and Hans Zimmer beloved of many a million flight sim and combat video is top of the list so..... beware.

There's a WWII German flak cannon around somewhere at armaholic, not sure who made it, looks pretty good though. I tried it ages ago when I fiddled around with some missions using vilas WWII stuff, nothing to fire at though other than fly a couple of Camels overhead lol.
-
Thanks Loyalguard, I'm new to this editing stuff and I'm finding it a bit daunting.
-
How do I get it so the mission starts with player descending by parachute from a few hundred feet?

This is fantastic work, I'm particularly impressed with the aircraft, any plans to model a pilot in WWII gear? just curious. -
Awesome stuff vidz, I love the staring at the ground moody look of the lead character.
-
A short rough test clip of Footmunch's F-16's and PKW pilots, haven't got around to getting the pilots in the planes yet. I'm going to combine with a flight sim at some point, dont know if anyone's seen "Unity" on youtube by a well known FSX movie maker but works really well with Arma http://www.vimeo.com/814413

Yeah, I only just got around to joining stage6 when it closed, bummer! a lot of people seem to be looking at veoh as an alternative, quality is a lot better than youtube but thats not difficult. Problem is these places have absolutely no community to speak of when it comes to PC game movies or any virtual movies. I've seen a load of Arma movies up there already some from guys here uploaded by someone else, mostly been there for months with only one or two hits, some with no hits at all, same applies to most flight sim movies.

Here's another effort by me, not sure where the storyline was going here, The Ambushers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_Apz8dhpj0

Johnny's USMC, plasmans Iraqi T-72, maddmatts effects

WWII for me, and other than that maybe Korea, where the equipment is'nt too different anyway other than it featured the best looking Jet aircraft of all time. I dont mind modern but more like recent modern as in say Gulf war 1 as opposed to whats going on in Iraq right now, far more interesting in military terms as opposed to the endless insurgency. Also for WWI fans it is possible to do one aspect where there was no trench warfare but guerrilla style war and that would be the Arabian campaign, you know Lawrence.... blowing up trains, assaulting Turkish positions etc, even a couple of maps already that would suit the campaign perfectly.
-
Here's my second Arma movie and first attempt at a serious one. My first movie was a WWII test video, this is a bit more accomplised (hopefully) fictional Gulf war 1 story. Â might add a download link to the youtube page when I've fiddled with the sound a bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGptmlx1rbk

Anyone got any links to basic camera tutorials? I saw the dilfax one on youtube but the problem is I cant read what to type in the box to actually activate the camera in the trigger, any help appreciated.
-
That was pretty cool wolf, where were the sounds from exactly? Supershooter, the best and biggest range of free weapon sounds is at sounddogs, look under guns, massive selection also cocking, mag change sounds, bullet impacts etc etc http://www.sounddogs.com/catsearch.asp?Type=1 Oh yeah, I've used all of Bill Browns free music samples at his site in some movie or other, God bless him
-
I tried a short WWII movie, not many about other than Armavidz private Ryan one, not much story as such just testing with sound effects etc. Might do another when I learn more about camera work and more WWII stuff is out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73R_v5UNGI0

I'm on mission 3 or so, no problems or bugs for me, have to say excellent so far in terms of story driven campaign really well done cut scenes and voice acting, you can even improve your Russian while playing it
-
An absolute classic just for the voice acting alone! I was cracking up just listening to this stuff and it never lets up!
