Vista 64 - Someone PLEASE help me!!
whenyoubite replied to midknight4's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Goto the driver panel and make sure you are not forcing antialiasing [or anti-filtering] is my input, as this was giving similar results on my system (black screen with mouse for about 2 sec then crash/no responce). The comment about "Vista comes with DirectX 10. If you want to play DirectX 9 games .. install XP. Doh." ....is from someone who dosent know anything about vista lol. As the last post said install the latest dx9 to be sure as it will co-exist with dx10, if you have the newest one its all good there. -
1.5 -No sound, blue screen hard locks

If any of you are using vista+ R-HD install the latest drivers ~ 1.60 http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloa....0Codecs Sure you must have anyway, but worth the link. No problems with my onboard+1.05 personally [well blusecreen ones at least, I get poping and crackling when sound is active] I guess I should buy a real soundcard lol -
Iv just completed this mission, and now I cant save anything past it... whenever I save and load it reloads a save from just after I shot him lol, shady. Im glad I was on my own, theres no way I could have slinked away if I was accompanied

yea it does work if this is the same prob you have after 1.05 Im now awaiting an official fix/patch, hopefully sooner than 1.06,, if thats a full bug/performance patch (but Id assume this will be fixed asap if the number of us effected is relativley large)

Will there ever be a 64 bit version of ArmA?
whenyoubite replied to Evan110185's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Sources? Running Vista 64-bit and for a while XP 64-bit, had no issues whatsoever to run 32-bit applications and games. Drivers etc need to be 64-bit and they were sometimes hard to find but this has changed rapidly the past months. Theres no way 80% of software wont work in a 64 bit o/s (vista64 personally), Id say 80-90% works in my experience without even a modification due to WOW. [edit] I will add I only have 2GB RAM, and will repeat more data is shifted per clock cycle regardless of memory address, which is a seperate benefit I do agree with the fact porting ArmA 1 to 64 is a waste of time, considering how much there is to 'optimize in ArmA still, working on that should be the primary concern @Radic- you should give vista64 a shot on a partition, Iv ran both binaries and seen a difference in terms of responsivness of O/S,, and 64 coded apps as mentioned in previous post, 32bit emulations seems +more or ~less the same in general... but thats to be expected (and to be honest I havent bechied that part its just what iv felt). vistax64 is true 64, and most of the modern chips are compliant from what Iv seen so the transition will be made. -

64 bit is massivley faster if the application is programed in it Thats definitly not a completly true statement. Not if its a web browser lol. Any intensive program, be it video or graphic manipulation of any kind.. (or gaming as I cant see why not,, as a lot more data is delivered per clock cycle) will benefit greatly if done correctly (and if the other parts are in place to back it up) -

64 bit is massivley faster if the application is programed in it, its only hype if its a 32 bit app in a 64 bit environment. my video conversions finish in a fraction of the time for example, simple maths (data throughput can be up to 8x faster due to more pipe configurations for optimization of stream) just like why we moved from 16 bit -
((20-25)-30) frames avg,, depending on map (unless I sniper scope a bush lol) Everything on very high - except shadows off antialisasing low EAX off (as I have onborad sound) Pentium-D 3.2 7600GS 512mb 2GB value RAM Vista 64 100.65 drivers ArmA 1.05 [edit] only a 300w PSU No probs at all, esp considering all the ppl with systems that destroy mine yet are runnung on normal or below O.o Of course occasionaly textures go missing, but that seems to be par for the course for most people

Disable your physical drives in device manager. Thanks to the one who helped me

Yea PM or post would be cool, Im sitting with a non functioning game (the sad thing is I bet its no-cd'd before its officially fixed :/)
-
Im also getting the 5024 error, guess its time to leave it alone till its sorted or return, dont like to concentrate on the tech issues of games as much as this, its often to the detriment of the fun element

To Owners of BFG 8800GTS 320mb o c single card
whenyoubite replied to killacom's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Yea my 512mb 7600gs shows available mem as 1gb (due to shared mem), its normal but yea id like the 320mb 8800 soon, but id prob just buy the vanilla and turn up the frequency slider manually to save some money. hows it running for you? should be same as 8800gtx 768mb @ resolutions ~1280x1024 on most games -
EU version and patch btw Im getting the excat same error... been waiting since mid-day.. and now my install is broken :/
-
I cant connect to any of the mirrors, *wishes for 20kB/s down* lol

Its only 14:10 GMT though lol. Im hoping it runs better with this patch (without having to put terrain detail to low just to get the grass to dissapear)
