Like the OP, ive got 2x 7800GT Processor is only 4000+ though, 3GB ram. I had very similar frame rates that he described, i.e. low 30s until we got to more complicated areas where it might be around 20. I'd be more than happy if i got FPS of 30 consistenly everywhere. Setting this Force framerate thing to 1 has resulted in zero gain, not even 2 or 3, let alone 26. So i am really wondering if it has been applied correctly or if it is dependent on other settings people might have played around with too. What was interesting, was that i changed something else prior to Force framerate = 1 (i wish i could remember what), went into the same map and the game was a hell of a lot smoother, no mouse lag, was almost like playing counterstrike - but the FPS was reported exactly the same. I dont care what FRAPS said, it was a lot smoother/quick. Unfortunately i changed it back, whatever it was, Â when i decided to get greedy and try the Force Framerate = 1 option Went back to normal. Silly me. QUESTIONS TO PEOPLE: 1) Clarifiying this is the correct process in Nvidia control panel: Go to 3d settings Go to right tab and manually enter ARMA.exe Adjust setting Force alternate frame rendering = 1 Apply Then must go back to left tab, and manually select that profile? Press ok/apply 2) Is the windows/nvidia driver not smart enough to invoke that new profile automatically when running the process arma.exe, i.e. the user must manually select the new profile (which would mean we could have called the program whopper.exe in the nvidia control panel and still have it work if we selected the whopper profile) ? I would have thought if there was a profile for bf2.exe and another for arma.exe then the nvidia drivers would automatically fire up the correct profile when the game is started. i.e. it detects the process name. 3) If you did get an increase from Force alternate frame = 1, can you please list ALL the options in the new nvidia profile. Will try n figure out what that other thing i changed was tonight. Edit: now that i've thought about it more, i think i got a CTD after seeing that speed boost and changed everything back. 4) Anyone gone over maxmem=1024 with success ? Mine didn't like 2048

ive done this SLI fix and got no difference in frame rates. can you tell me what the other settings should be in the profile? For example, the default had "optimise for multi monitors" which i dont think i really want as i have 1 monitor. should AA and Anisotropic be set, or just left to application?

right, Tank commanding in ARMA - is it the same as OPF? i.e. you get the bar across the top showing enemies, the commander can select targets to order the gunner to engage ? whenever i am commander in the tank, i dont see the bar across the top in ARMA. I can see it in the choppers however. The gunner engages infantry at his discretion but doesnt seem to want to use main gun. Fellow Abrams tanks engage the enemy though. So is it different or not ? if not, how do i tell gunner to engage particular targets (surely its not through the menu system) ? Pressing the next target key etc doesnt highlight enemy armor i can see. thanks

How to play CZ/GER version completely in English

hahahaha, thats even better - driving there nice to know i am not the only crazy person in the world anyway, total re-install has worked. When patching 1.01 this time post re-install it definately took longer and i could see it modifying ca.pbo despite backing them up, un-installing didnt remove any user settings/profiles either...so ppl can get away not worrying about backing them up/putting them back in. -

it's definately Czech. I flew to Prague last weekend for the sole purpose of buying the game anyways, i am re-installing from scratch as we type so i can't try your 1st suggestion. (didn't notice the 1.01 to 1.01, nice spotting!. maybe someone else in the same boat can try copying the EXE to see if it works ? -

ta for quick response, braced myself to do it yeh official 1.01 patcher was happy. Been through the process 4 or 5 times now, restoring from DVD each time. Just to eliminate possibility of idiot factor...when extracting the two gzipped files with Total commander, is it just a case of double clicking on the gzip folder on dvd so it shows the file inside, then dragging it into the other window (being the corresponding arma installation folder)? Fudge it, for what its worth i will try another time: After extracting with Total Commander we get ca.pbo: Size 114 MB (120,079,295 bytes) Size on disk 114 MB (120,082,432 bytes) Official patcher 1.01 ArmA: Armed Assault: Updating version 1.01 to version 1.01... Verifying ArmA: Armed Assault, version 1.01... ArmA: Armed Assault patch 1.01 has been applied successfully. Size 114 MB (120,079,295 bytes) Size on disk 114 MB (120,082,432 bytes) ....so it hasnt changed Run 6th-ArmA_en_patch.bat OK Run 6th-ArmA_en_patch2-cz.bat expects ca.pbo to be 120083222 which it is not as per above. Must be something to do with me extracting with Total Commander ? -

got same prob as Biscuits. Copied files back in from DVD using Total Commander, and with languages/campaign - they were unpacked with Total Commander. Ran patch 1.01 (CZ) Ran first patch file (no probs), then the CZ one (same prob as biscuits...Eng patch created 0kb ca.pbo). There must be more to cleaning this up than copying files back from DVD, or is there some sort of special settings required with Total Commander to extract the ca.pbo back from DVD ? Bit loath to do re-install, due to the painful key setup in Opf. If its the only way to get things working again...where are the settings kept, i.e. controls, so we can just copy them back in after a re-install ?
