FUEL, whats the story?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
no mods...just a virgin 1.03 arma2 having played some more....uaz's seem to b ok, brdm2s atgm the main offender -
Vehicles seem to be able to travel only a few miles before needing to be refueled. Can we order AI to shutoff engine to stop fuel usage whilst idling ? If i order them to go to the fuel truck, they may or may not do so, meaning i have to drive the vehicle to fuel truck myself. If they do go to fuel truck themselves, they might refuel after been given that seperate order, but still complain they are out of fuel (requiring me to make driver disembark...i get in, and find out it is fueled...wtf) Ordering the fuel truck to go to an out-of-fuel vehicle, the fuel truck wont necessarily stop within range of the stricken vehicle...requiring further micro management on my behalf. even the fuel truck is complaining about being low on fuel, and he's only driven 400 yards tops. are we expected to have 2 fuel trucks, so one can top up the other ???? this is an exercise in tedium, and really making my blood boil. any tips for fuel management (other than forget about vehicles, just use infantry)? would also be nice if the fuel/repair/ammo trucks didnt take up 3 of your 12 'unit' slots too.

yes its fine, but if yoursave is near the end of a long mission...you might b better off finishing that mission with 1.02, then patch b4 starting next mission...depends if u want to repeat what youve done already or not :)

Ive had this happen several times now (v1.02 and v1.03)...BRDM2 ATGMs seem to just explode whilst sitting doing nothing. I had 2 of them near Vyshnoye in badlands mission, told everyone to get out of vehicles whilst i went for a recce. The vehicles are 100% undamaged, not next to each other, nor any other object. Go for a wander and 30 secs later...theyre both up in flames and exploding. Theres no enemy about, the soldiers/crew are all standing happily nearby as if nothing happened. This happened the other day too. this isnt bf2, where i'd expect vehicles to explode if empty so that someone else camping at spawn can use it.

Who the F*** put number2 in charge ?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
i just ordered the support peoples to move to another place, i.e. select them with the F keys and say 'move there' will keep an eye on my status as mentioned by jakerod, should it happen again -

read it, not sure what the point is though. i.e. i have given an explicit command to certain members to stay put. they arent in formation anymore. therefore, why is another member in the formation trying (successfully) to counter my orders? if we were all in formation and some are falling behind...i could understand that why number2 is trying to 'help'. -

yeh the support numpties (who i want to remain at base) are already assigned to 'yellow' group, the rest of us (including number2) are 'red' group number2 still wants to order yellow group members. -

dunno he doesnt 'assume' command, i.e. cooper (me) still has the icons of all the soldiers/F keys at the bottom. number2 (sniper) just issues these annoying commands over the radio from time to time. 3 and 4 dont seem to do it. -

i think part of my problem is that when the new vehicles spawn, they seem to be only 1/2 full. would be nice if u could order the vehicles w/o crew. example of what i would call excessive fuel comsumption: driving from my base near kabanino to kyshnoye, uses almost 1/2 the fuel in BRDM2 ATGM...its only like a 2minute drive -

Badlands - friendly vehicles driving between bases
whopper_with_cheese posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
What purpose do the trucks WITH canopies, circulating between the base i created and the other bases we've cleaned out, serve? They seem to turn up every minute or so to my base, headbutt (drive into) the buildings several times like a retarded elephant, then drive off again. The trucks WITHOUT canopies are the salvage trucks i presume. Do they just keep re-spawning if they die by driving into the heat of the battle? seems that way...bless 'em -
Badlands - friendly vehicles driving between bases
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
thanks guys, its all clear now. its a pain having to set my base up again (having had to restart badlands due to applying patch 1.03 before finishing it). the supply trucks and salvage trucks are spawning on top of brick walls rendering them useless (cant move anywhere), or theyll spawn then drive 40 yards or so into me killing me....i want to fight the enemy...not with the trucks calm down whopper... -
CTD when 1.03 trying to load 1.02 save?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
yes they are it is a bug, they state it should work. it doesnt. its been raised here as a warning to other customers, not to believe this 'feature' works 100% this isnt an argument about whether we should have reverted back or not in the first place, its a thread asking if anyone else had the problem, or managed to continue successfully...lets keep it that way -
CTD when 1.03 trying to load 1.02 save?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
BIS obviously think 1.02 saves should be fine, just dont expect the bug fixes to kick in until a new mission starts, whether that be finishing or reverting the current mission. has anyone managed to load a 1.02 save successfully? -
CTD Constantly; Should I Just Give Up?
whopper_with_cheese replied to sitruunatee's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
i agree it should be fine in win7 too but since it looks like youre getting desperate, are u able to dual boot with XP or Vista to see if the same CTDs occur? a vista install and putting Arma2 on again should only take u an hour or two. that'd be my next step if i was in your un-enviable position -

CTD when 1.03 trying to load 1.02 save?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
that'd be fine, but this patch implies 1.02 saves will work fine until next mission for updates to kick in. Another prob still remaining: UAZ MG muzzle flashes staying on permanently -
CTD when 1.03 trying to load 1.02 save?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
first statements: i hate it i have to re-do several hours of work by starting Badlands mission again :) at least the r3tards (razor team) can move now, at the start of the mission. performance wise, its still very good under xp. keen to try win7 to see if it really has been improved as per others comments. More comments: Number2 was runover and killed by the friendly HQ bmp immediately after the cutscene. Naturally it was my fault and mission failed. Honestly... spend more time in this game fighting the friendly AI and interface, than the enemy -
ARMA II Patch 1.03 & Dedicated Server Released .
whopper_with_cheese replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
CTD trying to continue a 1.02 Badlands campaign i was playing just 30mins ago, so looks like theres problems not just with the 1.0 and 1.1 saves (as mentioned in the 1.03 info) Never had a CTD before -
Im buying weapons in Badlands, having just set up my 1st base. How can u stash weapons though? i.e. if i buy a sniper set, i lose my rifle w/ 203 launcher. are there crates (or other object) somewhere in your base, that u can store the current weapons before purchasing new ones ? also irritating that there's racks of rifles in the barracks and base, but u cant take any of them.
