the gtx295 is great for arma2 if u want 70fps or so, turn the vsync off and it goes above 60 (that being refresh rate of my monitor)...simples some people are getting triple figure FPS. most i've seen on mine is 90 odd in a simple mission. but as soon as you're in a heavy part of the campaign, i.e. AI doing lots of stuff...it isnt going to be 70+ anymore :) mr.cpu has other things to worry about all of a sudden if OP is going to post some shots, please make sure u show us in Dogs of War or something...not just from a town in the editor .... cheers

piflus works great with Silent Hunter, so i'd be keen to try it with Arma2. only problem i had with SH3 was when the sound was turned up high on speakers....the microphone wasnt able to pickup my voice commands too well. does everyone play sound thru headphones when using voice commands ? or keep speaker volume to low level ? or are there recommended settings to help it ignore the game noise ? or should i just get a better headset ? currently using creative hs600

Badlands: The immortal Prizrak
whopper_with_cheese replied to Aceman_rus's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
one of the devs acknolwedged (and apologised for) this issue as being introduced in 1.03 several days ago, in one of the 100s of other threads mentioning this same issue. i.e. they know. whether anything is done before a major patch though... -
Windows 7 is the cure to all issues

fair enough, its just nice that xp works out of the box, not having to disable things to get same performance which win7 build are u using ? -

whopper_with_cheese replied to marcodarco's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
maybe, i found earlier versions of win7 to be slick but as the builds gradually got bigger and bigger - it's not quite as fast. xp32 outclasses win7 build 7600 by a mile in arma2, on my machine with high/vhigh settings, low PP and 2x AA. maybe if we install a lean version of win7 7600, it might be better..i just installed the whole thing. -
I was with the CDF to start with. Took the 4 bases, helping that vyshnoye village in the meantime. Never got asked to assasinate the priest (did get asked under 1.02) So ive completed all the tasks: *Protect Vyshnoye *conqueor this region *conqueor pogorevka *find evidence now im running around like an idiot with nothing to do... what the story?

A few bugs after 1.03 *SPOILERS*
whopper_with_cheese replied to JRCOBRA's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
the devs even confirmed, and apologised for, the prizrak 1.03 issue on this forum....the bug has been mentioned in umpteen threads -
i'm about to commence an organised attack. ive left some of the CDK retards (such as fuel truck driver etc) back at my base (Badlands). then number2 suddenly thinks he is in charge (no i havent been hit or used team switch) and starts issuing 'return to formation' commands to anyone in the party who isnt standing next to us (namely the people i deliberatly told to stay at base). So all these people i wanted to stay out of harms way, start moving towards our group...and i have to issue another command to them to go back. Its hard enough managing soldiers under your command without 1 of them un-doing your work. is there a way to prevent this ????????? unfortunately putting a bullet thru number2's head gets me in trouble can we sue BIS for any heart attack induced by the frustration playing the game ? :)

Who the F*** put number2 in charge ?
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
i might buy that, in that scenario, but when it was 5,6,7 who were ordered to move elsewhere and 2,3,4 are following me still? number2 doesnt have any business recalling 5,6,7... -
crank up that cpu...sim games love cpu power i have same mobo+processor. game runs much better once u get it up to say 3.6+ what windows are u using too ? i still get a little bit of choppiness with win7 (7600x64) after v1.03 of arma2, but xp x32 is running it perfectly. Others prefer win7 though...so if youve got time and HD space, it could be worthwhile trying different o/s's

1.03 screwed over my save games, auto and self made
whopper_with_cheese replied to Scythe-NL's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
the point is it implies you dont have to re-start the mission (if it was a 1.02 save) i dont care what previous patches did, whether written in bold or not. if users were told the 1.02 saves (mid mission saves, not checkpoint in campaign) are not compatible ... we'd be able to make decision whether to continue in 1.02 if we werent having issues with bugs...then patch later. By patching, i not only had to revert and start it all over wasting several hours, but the mission (badlands) now has new bugs introduced by 1.03 rendering it incompletable yes there's lessons to be learned by us players, but would be nice if BIS checked what they were writing in the patch notes too. simples -
Badlands - is it realy suposed to be like that !?
whopper_with_cheese replied to MG92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
spring round what facility ? build your base away from the enemy. i never saw any enemy come to my base (making setting up defences a big waste of time) razor team stayed with me at base...i sent the 'bought' plebs out to do the fighting. -

whopper_with_cheese replied to Scythe-NL's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
dont jump up and down on the OP cause he's trying something BIS implies should work. can we get clarification from the devs that some saved games can work from 1.02? everyone seems to get CTD loading up a 1.02 save in 1.03. i read the patch statement as saying 1.02 saves are fine, just dont expect campaign bug fixes to kick in until your new mission - whether that be repeating the current mission or reaching the next mission. but we're not given the option to continue the mission, a CTD has been introduced which forces people to revert. The patch doco could have been better worded: 1) finish your current saved mission on your current version of ARMA2 (if you can), then Patch... OR 2) Patch now and Revert your campaign to start of your current mission -

whopper_with_cheese replied to MG92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
i got tired of enemy AI being far more aware (quicker to get rounds off) than my friendly AI foot soldiers, so i just built my base and sent in a couple of BRDMs (the non ATGM version) and they were pretty successful in taking over the towns alone. if they die, build another and send it in bit of a sad way to play the game, but far less frustrating :) -

Hello, can any of our Russian speaking friends tell me what this advert says ? Unsure whether it's a serious or joke advert. (I couldn't find it in the photography thread, and obviously i want discussion...) This girl certainly doesn't look very happy with her icecream thanks :) -
Badlands 1.03
whopper_with_cheese replied to whopper_with_cheese's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
I guess the question is: Is the prizrak encounter mandatory to end the mission ? I did get the radio message talking about Prizrak (After StarySobr taken), discussed killing him, but wasnt told to go anywhere to meet the person who will tell me where Prizrak is. Ho him, i've done endmission anyway, having walked around the map (well, the 4 bases) for a couple of hours trying to trigger something. The priest has (mistakenly) become invulnerable in 1.03, per one of the developers in another thread. Probably they were trying to ensure he stayed alive until the time u need to kill him - but forgot to make him vulnerable again ??? -
CTD when 1.03 trying to load 1.02 save?
whopper_with_cheese posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
As title says, trying to continue my campaign in BADLANDS, and get CTD with 1.03 (never had a CTD in arma2 before) Happen to anyone else? Serves me right for applying patch before finishing the mission...only had 1 base to go too :) (but patch notes suggested 1.02 saves are ok) was playing under XPhome32 -

oh oh, my pet hate: lack of unique names. tired of seeing in the casualty list at the end of the mission: Boris Jones 3x Peter Smith 4x Bob Prosky etc
-
69. satnav or ability to view map whilst driving...i.e. so u dont have to keep stopping and bring up map to check directions when enroute 70. have the 2 bmp crew in badlands do something. they rock up in the bmp, hop out...end of story. u cant tell them to get back in and drive it
-
or u can go to the Armory and play mission thru there...is amusing for 10 mins or so

2. friendly supply trucks and other vehicles stop running over other friendlies (esp razor team) i.e. collision prevention rather than just collision detection. 3. if you tell some units (say F4,F5) to move to a certain place, number2 (F2) doesnt tell them to fall back into formation later i.e. who is really in command here ? 4. chicky soldierettes. not necessarily as front line troops, but could be included as transport drivers etc 5. option to sit down and sort your mags out, i.e. fill each of them up, rather than have lots of mags with only a few rounds in them if youve been doing lots of shooting and reloading without using whole mags. 6. issue multiple waypoints to your team members, like u can to other elements attached to your command
