    Rpg/law effectiveness

I don't know. In the excellent book, "Afghan Gurillea Warfare", it details many missions by the mujahdeen against the Soviets. Countless times it talks about a Russian tank being destroyed with one RPG round. I don't know what kind of tank, but it's in there.

    Please help me commanding tanks

Don't get in as commander! I found this so frustrating. My favourite is to get into a tank all by myself and switch to manuel fire. Then you can be all three yourself. Not bad! In the early Tank missions on Malden in CWC, the commander thing works great. But on the missions in the M1A1 on Everon, the entire thing goes to hell. The Driver won't do anything I tell him to. I watched in horror as the idiot drove my tank right into a repair truck, killing the driver. After that I ordered him to disembarke and took over driving myself.

Some questions about resistance..who is the devil

I don't think that Tom is "Tasmanian Devil". If he is he must have been right behind Victor's house hacking into the radio, as he runs around the side about three seconds after Tassie Devil is cut off. I've my own theory about Tasmanian Devil. Anybody here ever played "Deus Ex"? Remember "Helios"? Well, Tasmanian Devil is just some really advanced supercomputer that goes rogue and sends out information to Victor. About the end of the mission. Yes, it appears it did end on a sad note. But, hey, it wasn't that bad. Hero's die before others do. It made it more realistic I think. But while I'm at it, why in the hell do I keep seeing Demitri Lukin popping up everywhere?! First he's one of the civilians lined up in front of Victor's house (true, take a look at the second guy in the line!). Second, I loaded up my mission editor and placed a US soldier there. Well, it turned out to be Lukin himself! So Lukin has somehow managed to fight for all three sides in the war. Rat.
  4. I'm got a few questions about mission editing that I wonder if somebody could answer. a. How do you add special characters like General Guba, Angelina, and Col. Blake to your mission? b. If I want to make an area where the enemy will not shoot me, how do I do this? Like in the Escape From Prision in Cold War Crisis. In a certain area you're not shot, but after you leave that area people start shooting. c. How do I set a scud launcher to fire if I'm spotted by the enemy. My plan is to sneak into the base and try and destroy the launcher without being seen. If I'm seen, the launcher will fire and the mission will be failed. d. How do I get people to surrender in cut scenes?

    Aternative strategies

I used a lot of alternative strategies to complete Red Dawn. First, I took the LAW soldier with me and left the rest of the squad at the base. We jumped in the machine gun armed jeep and tore over to the Ruskie base. The gunner took out the guard, and we both got into the Hind. I tried to take out Guba's SCUD first, but promptly got myself shot down by a shilka (damn those things!!!). My mate and I ejected. I got an approx location of the SCUD, so I set out towards the general direction. We ran into some trouble at a small enemy base overlooking the place where Guba's boat is. I just ran, while my mate engaged the enemy. He shot one, but got killed in the end. I caught a bullet, but kept on going. There's not too much enemy presense in the top of the island, so after rooting around for awhile I found the SCUD, dropped a Satchel and ran. That blew up the SCUD. I took out the two man patrol nearby and ran back to Guba's boat. I then stole that ( ) and motored around to the little village on the other side of the island where Guba stops his car for awhile. I had no idea where he was. I got there and found that Guba had dropped off Col. Estev with the Spetz Naz and had gone on alone. I took them out, and then drove back to the place where I stole the boat. I then took out the two remaining guys in the base (the ones that had killed my mate *revenge is sweet*). And guess who was waiting for me right there? The great General himself! I just captured him and told him to get into the boat. Easy.

    Incursion

Thanks mate, but I completed it last night. The easy way. I can't believe that nobody seems to have seen this before, but here's the way I did it. After so much trouble before, this is so easy. All walkthroughs that I have read (ex: http://www.gamespot.com/gamespo....18.html ) have suggested that you arm yourself with a law launcher and a sniper rifle. Don't!!! I'm sure that it's possible to snipe everybody in the area, but why bother? Do it the easy and stealthy way. Instead of being brave and blazing your way through the checkpoint up ahead, turn to your right and go into the forest. Keep following the fence line (not too close though!) until you reach the end of the red dotted line on the map. You can now go around the edge of the fence. (getting your feet wet at the same time). So now you're in the guarded area with no resistance. Keep going up towards Guba's house. Your only resistance will be a T 72 which makes periodic patrols around the area. Ignore him. He won't hurt you. Go down towards the coast again and approach Guba's house from the back. Hide in the bushes and equip your HK to full auto. Take out any patrols that come around the edge of the house. Don't worry about the two BMPs. They are only a nuisance. Once you have the back of the house secured, go back into the forest and duck around the hill to approach from the front. You many find a small patrol in the woods. Take them out. Then sneak up among the tents. You now have an ideal firing site. Take out the officer lying in front of the house and the soldier in front of the tents. Keep firing at anybody who comes within range. The great thing about the HK is that nobody knows where you are when you are firing. I was firing at some guys about 100 m away, and a machine gunner about 15 m away didn't know a thing. Once you have cleared out the grounds, grab the codes and retreat the way you came. Simple.
  7. Suppose I want to make a hostage rescue mission. How do I get the terrorists to shoot the civilians? Neither side (East or West) targets civilians.
  8. This is an easy and quick way for completing the Scrap mission in Operation Flashpoint Resistance. Don't use Plan A. I tried time and time again without success. Tell your men to go stealth, and go to the edge of the forest facing the base. Snipe the tank crew. It'll make your life that much easier. Then run like crazy into the base, your men will take our the two guards there. Jump into tanks and wait. I tried calling in reinforcements, but none arrived. Take our the RPG soldiers first, and then mop up. Wait in the village for the incoming tanks. Tell your men to target them. Should be easy. Then move up to the castle ruins, taking out soldiers, an officer or two, and a few Spetz Naz. Tell your men to jump out of their tanks and grab what they can. Then move out to your base, taking the Ural Ammo with you.

Where should i run "after montignac"

This mission is not to bad. Take out Montignac. Easy. Your men will destroy the BMP. Now jump into that truck and you'll be driven to Provins. Provins is the hardest part. Watch out for well hidden enemies in bushes. You'll have a 203, so lob a few grenades into bushes to clear them out. When you get your orders, move into the forest east of the town. Mission will end there. Now you're on your own. Try to get to the evac point. I found this really easy. Run down the hill, watching out for the BMP and troops. Don't take them on though. Now run into that village. There's a yellow car there. Jump into it and drive like hell to the evac point. Watch out in the village though. There's a Ruskie squad guarding it. There pretty stupid though. I snuck behind a house and lobbed a grenade at them. Didn't kill any of them, but sure confused them. They all went prone and started looking around the place. I then thought that I was a gonner, but I got into the car anyway, and peeled rubber right in front of them. Not a single shot was fired at me. From there to the evac, uh, I mean capture, point, is a clear run.

That damn bmp kills the whole squad!

Strange, I didn't even see the BMP in the village. We took out the enemy squad guarding the hostages. I grabbed a PK, the best weapon to use in long range action, and we all jumped in the truck after decimating the incoming Ural. At the point we leave the truck, we continued up the hill. An enemy Ural came up the road, but I managed to kill off the squad with my PK. I heard something about a BMP over the radio, so went prone. Next thing I heard was a big explosion, About 100 meters away was the smoking hulk. End of mission.

    Pointy-headed commanders

The Guard mission is fairly easy. I found that the best way to play it is to get into the hills facing your base and go prone behind some bushes. Turn on your NV and watch. There are only 2 Spetz Naz to take care of. After that, toast some burgers on the fire and wait around for the Black Ops to arrive. The Undercover mission is a real mess up really. Your guys try to play the heros against overwelming odds, which of course, get's them killed. But maybe that's the idea. Don't worry about them, just take out the Russian patrol in the woods and move it to the castle. After the Russian patrol, if you stick to the woods, you'll be safe.

    Defeated by defender

Ah Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. Didn't scroll down to see it. Don't you just love newbies? I used your advice Ex-R, and it succeeded. Thanks a million. I find that a good plan is to take all your COs mines as well and add them to your trap. That way, when the first blows up, all the rest just blunder into the mine field. Beautiful. I also found that if you just lay tight in the bushes without bording the M 113, the mission ends successfully as well. I had to do this, as about four a five crew members were taking an unhealthy interest in my general area. But thanks for everybody's help.

    Defeated by defender

Ok, I'm stuck. I got the Operation Flashpoint GOTY edition the other week (demo got me hooked) and I've progressed in the Cold War Crisis campaign to the Defender mission where you have to lay mines and blow up all the incoming Russian tanks. I think that mission's rigged, myself. I lay my mines, right. The first tank in the column goes over, gets blown up. Then all other tanks (about three) leave the road, go into the bush, and return higher up. I tried everything, including putting mines up the road a bit, but nothing seems to work. The best I can do is take out one tank, and then just try taking out three T 80s with one LAW launcher! Needless to say, I'm soon dead. If the tanks escape, they'll blow up your M 113 coming to pick you up, making you walk back to the NATO base. Once you get there, there are Russians all over the place and about four tanks. Is there an easy way to win this mission?
