Could you be any more vague? If you are looking for help please include some detail. For example: "After running program *.exe file game logo appears then game crashes to desktop. I have WindowsX, PentiumX, XMB of XRam, X brand video card, do or do not have cd-r or cd-rw, etc..." where X is the specs on your computer.

I wouldn't give Codemasters the satisfaction. Frankly I emailed them about their problem when I first noticed it and told them there was something wrong with the disk. So I wait 24hours for a reply and here is what they said: Can you please download and install the latest drivers for your Nvidia Riva TNT2 graphics card from http://www.nvidia.com/ Lets see first of all I already did that before they asked me and the new drivers are unsupported by microsoft and caused my graphic accelerator card to crawl to a stop. I tell them this then they write: If you send in the game we will test it to see if there is a problem with the disk. Well then pay for the shipping then. I'm as sure as hell not. I've already paid top dollar for a non-working copy then wasted hours of my time trying to get it to work.

I hate calling tech support....Why? Lets see....I pay 40 dollars on a brand new game...that doesn't work then I have to pay long distance phone bill! Whoa that makes alot of sense. I might as well be in a state prison picking up bars of soap in the showers. Thanks Codemasters! -

They are laughing and plotting...... -
Yeah, yeah, I know. I know the game was bugged as soon as I tried it. Just for shits and giggles I tried all the information in faqs and forums. That just added insult to injury. Theres nothing more frustrating than saving up money for a PC game you've been dying to play then fnally after several weeks of saving buying it and taking it home and doesn't work. Then you waste ohh....10 hours or so trying to get the game to work cause everyone said, "try this" and "have you tried this", "haven't you read this" and so on. I know enough about computers to know if a game doesn't work with a computer that was no problems with 30-40 other games from many different game companies then that game is defective. I know Codemasters will do the right thing but I can't wait for that. I already returned my game and used my store credit on another game. I won't say the name, thats not important, it might not be as much fun to play but atleast it works! And isn't that what we all really want? Buy stuff that works?

Crappy, non-working, useless versions of Operation Flashpoint Gold Edition available only In North America in Specially Marked Boxes. Includes: Non-working Original Full Game, Non-working Gold Expansion Pack and a great illustrated stategy guide which serves as a bitter reminder that you wasted 40-50 US dollars on a useless game that has been sitting on your desk collecting dust after countless wasted hours of trying to get the game to work. New working copies may be mailed to you perhaps next week when all the fun has gone out of playing the game. -
In case you don't know already, master disk was flawed when those copys were made. If anyone can get them to work they are GOD. Anyways atleast you have a very expensive and atractive OFP beer coaster until Codemasters fix the problem and get new disk out.
-
Thats quite a list! What do you do for a living? Beta test games?
-
The award for the game with the most technical bugs and glitches goes to...........drum roll.............. Operation Flashpoint by Codemasters! Applause............. Just a joke, I really do like the game. Its my favorite game out right now. Just pissed I can't play it. Just play the demo over and over again. LOL

First I'd like to say that I think I was the first to point out the buggy disk. I was fustrated by trying all the suggestions and getting no results. I even tried forceaspi!!! Anyways Codemasters has know about this problem for longer than 24 hours. I bought the game Saturday and quickly contacted them. For those of you that have a gold edition that works, good for you! But many of us having non-working ones and what do we do. We all can contact Codemasters and give them your computers specifications and dxdiag.txt file, run dxdiag from start>run then save infortion into txt. This is only if you bought the Gold Edition Full, original game, gold upgrade and strategy guide all in one box. Send information to Codemasters so they can fix their mistake! mailto:custservice@codemasters.com thanks -
I believe, like many others that have suffered my fate, that Codemasters released some buggy discs when releasing their new Gold Edition. This is particular to the box with the gold edition upgrade with the full game. Many have tried everything on the faqs, forums and even THE AVON LADY. While all the information has been helpful it has not solved the problem. I for one hate altering my computers settings and drivers to any extent. Is the computer supposed to run the game or the game run the computer. Those of us who are stuck with the game have a useless piece of plastic at about 40-50 US dollars. If you feel you are in this group please email Codemasters. File your complaint there but also help them help themselves. Operation Force is a great game and its too bad that this happened. Send them a detailed letter on what the problem is, ie Game crashed to desktop after logo appears, and tell them about your computer specifications, ie Pentium 4, Windows XP, 32MB NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2, 512MB DDR SDRAM, 80GM Ultra DMA hardrive, HP CD Writer CD16F, etc... also run DXDIAG from the run menu understartup, save information and send that text file over to: mailto:custservice@codemasters.com Lets get the ball rolling and get Codemasters to fix this issue so we can all enjoy the game.

Thanks Invasion. Good to hear something is being done.

I am just amazed that Codemasters drop the ball on this one. I mean to distribute a product that doesn't even work then have no clue about it. I usually appreciate faq files and help files but when they tell you to install this or uninstall this to get a game working I begin to worry. Many novice computer users or gamers should not be tampering with their computers drivers and registry. Its ludicris to think that the average person should be qualified to install this driver and change registry and all that to play one game. There was nothing wrong with my computer before I bought the game why should I change my computer's settings now, for just one game. Besides, the idea behind beta testing is to find and fix errors and set minimum sysem requirments. If a computer meets all the requirements the game should play. Right? Nope. Anyways in this case it wouldn't even help. This experience has left a bitter taste in my gaming pallatte. I will continue choosing computer games over console games but this situation makes me understand why so many others stick with console games.

Thanks smithpe6, I will check it out. Oh yeah and with Operation Flashpoint I returned it today. I will try to pick up another copy of it when they get it fixed. I'm kind of scarred at the moment. Its too soon.

***WARNING - OPINION*** I have tried all things in forums, faqs, and help files. I've wasted countless of precious hours trying to figure out how to get the gold edition full to work at my computer. I've took everyones suggestions and comments and tried every one. Some these suggestions made my computer crash and I had to restore my hardrive. The fact is I have a brand new computer: Pentium 4, Windows XP, 1.8Ghz, 512 DDR SDRAM, 32MB NVIDIA RIVA TNT 2 with all the extras. I have many, many other games, 30 atleast, that run fine from the get go. This is the first time this has happened to me. I am no newbie when it comes to computers so I am pretty comfortable to say that there is something wrong with the game. I returned it today and got store credit. I am very dissapointed in Codemasters for not catching their mistake sooner. It has made alot of people suffer many countless hours infront of their computers trying to make a game work. I appreciate all the suggestions everyone gave but I wish someone would have suggested that maybe there is something wrong with the game. Especially when many people who have the game are writing into this forum. I wonder how many other people that are having the same problem won't ever make their voice heard. I was really looking forward to playing OPF but I guess I will spend my money elsewhere. On a game that works right out of the box, not after trying 20 different things and altering my brand new computers setting. If Codemasters believes that to make a great game the buyer needs to be a computer programmer to operate their game. They must have a small market in mind that doesn't include myself.
