    Try this from the chase view: 1. Fly a Blackhawk or cobra at cruising speed in level flight 2. Bank Left and Right with the Cyclic (no rudder) Notice something odd? the chopper swivels from a pivot located above the main rotors. This pivot is supposed to be the Center Of Gravity (CG). I fly choppers in real life and I have never seen the CG there, LOL. You can actually put this beast on a 360-deg roll in a matter of seconds (just be sure to reduce collective to 0 while inverted and back to full when upright). This however is very far from the claims of realism. Who developed the flight model?  I do have some Vehicle Dynamics books you guys can borrow. Just playing, I don’t lend my books out. :P I love the game, just PLEASE, PLEASE move the CG where it belongs.

    All, Look at MS-FSX's helicopter flight, not exactly RL but fundamemtally closer than ArmA. Even OFP didn't suffer from this problem. Before it gets more ridiculous, I think is safe to say ArmA left out an important aspect of helicopter flight that we now have to swallow or go into denial about. This is the best they did with the given engine.

    plaintiff1, Ground affect in the game really translates to low enough altitude (Depending on the aircraft). OMG, I do know how to draw pictures too. Thats seems to convey the message better to the cavemen.

    LeftSkidLow, Out of ground effect is NOT what i was reffering to. I've seen that done with the AH-64s too. I'm taking about a 360-deg roll in IGE as in the game.

    LeftSkidLow, The BO-105's video clearly shows the CG shift as the speed increased. Compare its behaviour during takeoff & hover-taxi to full speed flight. BTW, that did not showed me a roll, that was a 360-deg loop which can be acheived with enough speed, altitude and skill.

    RockofSL, Thanks for that intelligent reply. It's a shame that it wasn't well thought out since it changes the expected response from the controls. That rocking swing motion has me extremely disappointed since I mainly play the role of air support. It should have been as fundamental as shooting a gun. Let's just blame the engine limitations and be done with it. It's cheaper for BIS too. :P

    INNOCENT&CLUELESS, You missed the point. LockOn is a Combat Flight Sim not a Combined Arms Sim. When you eject, you don't risk getting shot by the enemy or having to find your way back to friendly territory. Fun when flying, but that's about it.

    LeftSkidLow, Adapting to a situation does not justify it. Is like a boxer accepting getting punched with metal gloves. I will personally pay you $2000 American to show me a rotorcraft that can do a 360-deg roll from a hover with the CG being above the main rotor. What's that supposed to be some kind of SICK JOKE?

    MadDogX, Â Are these FS pilots or real pilots. No real pilot will sit back and ignore unnatural flight characteristics. That's a "Who cares how it gets there as long as it gets there" mentality, lol "Who's side are you on son, don't you love this game. How about getting with the program?     Do you really need post processing in this game? Give me a break!! You don't even need antialias unless you're going to play a combat photgrapher. Gameplay is what makes or breaks games, not fancy laggy graphics which leave no room for the real deal. A game with good physics, freedom, and vast terrain will outweigh one that looks photorealistic inside a tiny area. It really has to do with development cost, advisors and/or talent. One or more of these are missing. It can't possibly be ego! :P

    You really have to be in some serious denial to not understand that if you're going to represent any vehicle in any profitable game, it needs to behave in a manner humans are use to. If it's merely a sandbox, then why add so much eye candy? Flight was not improved from OFP1, it's heading in the wrong direction. Stay away from the Battlefield 2 flight model that even a caveman can do. The game should respect the laws of physics at least. Just imagine if heat rounds bounced off your helmet without killing you. I'm sure you would be ranting, even though is supposed to be a "Sand Box".

    A range of circumstances do not apply to the entire envelope, specially at slow flight or hover.
  15. Don't you guys feel saturated and sick of all the wars based in the past. Let's look towards other conflicts brewing up. Perhaps a contemporary campaign against terrorism. Make it as real as your development budget can (dismemberment, POWs, Torture, and all). STOP THE MADNESS!!!

    1. Realistic water color: Water isn't blue everywhere. 2. Realistic ricocheing bullet trails, with realistic colors at night only for Veteran mode. 3. Tall Grass: Animation should be an option for hi-end computers. 4. Add Trains. 5. Better colors: Current colors look wasshed out. 6. Improved animation response: Characters react too leasurely when compromised. ie: Dropping to the ground after firing a RPG weapon. 7. Improved controls: Often i've been killed attempting to find the right action just to be faced with a changed menu. ie: Ejecting from an aircraft in a hurry while using a Joystick. What about making every action programmable? 8. Optimized AI: I've asked my team mates to drive a truck from point A to point B, and they get stuck or go VERY slow every time, no matter what combat mode. 9. can we climb trees? :) 10. Close combat!: Knifes, etc

    Just sell the engine, and editor. Modders will make the perfect game to fit the perfect crowd. Case closed. Next!
  18. I hope they make a fun game out of it. I know that theatres of operations in Vietnam may be fun, but what would be the story? The US lost the war, and it wasn't a very technological one. I rather see some evolutionary type game. Command and Conquer style with OFP feel.

    Realistically speaking, as soon as the new version is released, every modder will flock to try to make every imaginable mod for the game. Why not release the package as a war toolkit, and let modders have at it? Provide some tutorial worlds, and examples, and sell the missions as addons for those who don't care to mod. Just an idea, don't rip my head off.

    I would like to see BIS implement sea capabilities such as swimming, diving, craft wrecks sink and remain underwater, etc. It would be nice to cross a river without drowning. Relevant Reference: Novalogic's Delta Force 1 & 2

    Dynamic campaingns make more sense since all the wars have been pretty much played out. It's great to play the game and not know where you're going to be sent next.
  24. I'm a QA tester and aspiring game developer, and know that to maximize profits, many developers release games with limited functions, and control for minimun spec. PCs. I doubt enough gamers will be willing to pay for a game that only run on the fastest available mchines. The following are some of the features that are missing from the current OFP, and would be great to see in upcomming versions: GENERAL: 1. Optimize the code, and improve upon the already great features of the engine. 2. Add more freedom, and control. 3. Make maps larger, and stop the island concept. LAND: 1. Create a sequential world similar to Microsoft Flight Sim. 2. Subterranean capabilities. (Caves, Shelters, etc.) 3. Degradable units (Relying on food, water, and rest) 4. Food, and dinking water (Improves health, and strenght) 5. Wild & domestic animals. (Can be killed and used for food) 6. Dimable lights with better occlussion 7. More animations { Reloading on the run Running Swimming Drinking, and eating Sleeping Hand to hand combat (Knifes, punching and Kicking) Dismemberment } SEA: 1. Underwater capabiblities. (Swimming, Diving, Combat) 2. Submarines 3. Cruise missles 4. Depth charges & mines AIR: 1. Multiple airports and ILS' 2. Maneuverable parachutes, and ability to fire from

    I know it can be done if the developper is not as stubborn and narrow minded. Perhaps sacrifice some land polys to do so.
