    Logitech G13 and ArmaII

(Might help to post your specs when ever you have an issue like this ;) Personally, I have had no trouble with it, very nice hand pad (was using the N52 for 3 years) I do know they have a new driver for w7 and 64bit, I believe it is a crucial update. # Title: GamePanel Software # Software Version: 3.04 # Post Date: 12/18/2009 # Platform: Windows 7 # File Size: Approximately 15 Mb Drivers found at http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/441/5123&hub=1&cl=us,en Weird thing about the logitech Cpanel is there is no "Save" or "Save as" it is Import and Export. Import the profile and make the modification you would like then export it for it to show in your list. - For a new profile, click New and Name it, set it up, Export it and it will show in your list. Make sure your files stay in the default folders for less confusion. Hope that helps. ---------- Post added at 04:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:27 PM ---------- PS - It works in every game I have tried so far. ArmA, ArmA2, OFDR(eeewwww!), BF2, AA, CoDMW.....

    Whats Wrong?

Suggestion - if using the HD as a page file, make both the min and max the same setting (4096 is a good setting) It is my experience to cut the hard drive out of the page file business (due to massive fragmentation). Use a fast reliable memory card or thumb drive of good quality. Use this as your page file. This removes the HD from constantly resizing and searching - The memory/thumb drives have no moving parts and are much faster. This works very well for me and has been for several years. Give that HD a break!!
  4. That DCS Black Shark is the flight sim of all sims. I have had it a few months now. It would be nice to see DCS make the AH1 version of this.
  5. Wow, I bought the game to shoot the bad guys, arm and squad up to tackle missions and most certainly not to get my jollies off on some perverted adult theme with cartoon characters and barnyard animals? What fakkin sick minds! What, the hookers all getting slaughtered wasn't enough? turn off the porn dude, it ain't healthy
  6. It is all about situational awareness and how it can/should be used. You have a flat screen in front of you with little to no peripheral vision. What can you expect from this? The added features such as 3pv gives you a broader view of your situation and is a good tool to have. As someone mentioned earlier, being able to peak over a 10' wall is a little much but the trade off of having a bit more than a flat panel in front of you as your only window to the game is a welcome trade. IMHO
  7. Quite possibly and more than likely it is the game that does this when you enter towns. This is a huge game application, not your CoD or BF2. There is bound to be a memory leak or even worse, some of the memory is not letting go as it should and stays resident. I have 8gigs of DDR2 as physical memory and use an 8gig OCS mem stick as my page file. it is set to 4096mb both max/min. I have yet to have that happen. What does happen though is I get spikes in my #1 processor (using Core 2) and it change loads on the processor - meaning I witness one processor using the major portion of the application spike and then the other processor seems to take over. This was only noted when entering towns. Very brief but notable. hmmmmm Have you tried a larger capacity thumb drive?
  8. Okay, I guess my point about no moving parts is not making any since. Using the thumb drive as your page file is absurd! Who in their right mind......... Now back to my point and it works flawlessly for me and a lot of pro gamers. Eliminating the use of the hard drive as a page file and using a good fast thumb drive for this purpose is simple to see, no moving parts, read times are faster, eliminate the HD from multi tasking and leaves you more space on that hard drive. Now pick the schit out of that and tell me it makes no since. It is hard for me to understand the nit picking flamers that just have to have something to say when a proven performance gain is noted. Basically, stop talking out the sides of your neck if you don't have something decent to add and stop worrying about your post count.

    TrackIR 5 ArmA2 Thread!

Thank you Jex, My point was "Yet another key to use..." Yes, a simple use of another key will afford you the free look, you can even toggle it OR simply turn your head slightly and go about your business. It is a matter of preference really, do you want to fumble with another key or play this game as realistically as possible being it is a sim? Too expensive? Try this alternative http://www.cachya.com/esight/overview.php - Uses a webcam and from what I have read works as well as the TIR.
  10. That is a pretty large page file (10gig). 4096 mb should work well or at least twice the amount of your installed physical memory. Imagine a large barrel and you need to grab a piece of information from it, you would have to reach way in there arm buried to the arm pit. Now imagine a large bucket, not so large as the big barrel, you can reach in grab way you need and be gone. Okay, a little exaggerated but really, that is a large page file.
  11. That is all well and true Defunkt and may work just fine for you but to tell others they don't need it is simply your own opinion and is noted. Setting up a page file (Swap file, virtual memory) "to serve more memory to applications" is exactly true. With today's applications and new games and using a mere 4 gigs some will find issues running no virtual memory. Memory leaks, bad memory writes and shared graphics will make 4 gigs disappear fast causing the same thing stuttering and lower performance and even the infamous BSOD. I only shared what works well for me and a lot of other gamers. I would not shut down the virtual memory and I would use a quality fast thumb drive to accommodate a large page file. IMHO Infire, let us know how it works.
  12. @ --> InFireBaptize, Yes it will. If you are using 4 gig thumb drives you might only be able to use 3072mb for each Max and min settings. I use an 8 gig OSC Thumbrive. Has worked for several years now. It is set at 4096mb for both min/max. Setting them both to the same number in the minimum and maximum is important to stop the stuttering found when using the HD, which must start up first and search for the file. Disabling the page file is not recommended IMHO. Virtual memory is used for many things and this game will use a swap file. Sure, if you have a huge memory but even then the game or program is scripted to use swap files. So shutting off the virtual memory will in fact piss you off in a lot of applications and updates if the swap file is not usable or turned off. No matter how much physical memory you have on your machine, programs still need the swap file for new installations - setting up, temp writes and many other program related scripting that points to a swap file. Just grab a nice fast thumb drive or memory card and use it for your swap file setting and nothing else - the difference in performance is notable.
  13. It may have been mentioned but a true fix is to not use the Hard Drive as a swap file (Virtual memory) simply due to the fact it is a moving part. Instead, get yourself a fast Thumb drive 4 - 8 gigs and use it specifically for your virtual swap file, set it at 4096mb for both min and max. This will stop the stutter from the VM resizing as it makes room for more information. This is what I have used for years and it has proven to work very well and a noticeable change can be seen. TrackIR 5 ArmA2 Thread!

Free look using a key to initiate? No so moot as you say when a mere look over the shoulder (a slight turn of the head for TIR) does not require yet another key to use. This is real handy for those of us that use the N52 or G13 game pads and have stepped away from the main keyboard. The graduated lean as stated before is a boon!

It is the best for flying. Total cockpit view and surrounding sit-awareness. Imagine a sniper nice and tucked away near good cover. Being able to scan 180 degrees with out your whole character moving which is a dead giveaway! Honestly, your situational awareness is increased a bunch when using the TrackIR.

    The Most Obscure Easter egg(s)

HOPEnSPIRIT - I believe you are correct. That is exactly what happened to me, looking for the lone sniper I clipped that chimney and whoa - there he was! I saw this same Clause fella in ArmA1 while flying over a stack like that in an EVO campaign. I believe I got pic of that one some where as well

Found him in ArmA1 now I saw him by accident in ArmA2. Anyone know where he is? If you find more post them. :D http://www.meowworld.com/meow-ftp/ARMA2/arma2 santa.wmv
  22. Not quite the place to be posting that stuff for sure. Not sure why anyone would bring something like that here. I would think BI has a little more class than to allow its members to post such things. All - Think twice before you let your kids see this post
  23. Pentium D is a dual core processor, while the Pentium 4 HT is a single core that is capable of running two software threads ....... http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Compare_Pentium_4_D_and_Pentium_4_HT Wiki = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentium_D
  24. Just sad that this is common place in many games. Actually I find that most ArmA players that are armaheads play with teamwork, just hard to do that with all the brats (grown up brats too) running around. The last thing a hoster wants is to police his server. That is why so many servers are locked. Join a community and get to know them such as ours (There are many good clans out there that have a decent community such as Kellys Heroes and many others) at www.30tigers.com. We have a good bunch there and have a server up at times. Joining that community and showing your respect will allow you in a pass worded server. Look for MEOW/West Coast game server - This is a local server that is often up and running ArmA II Military Experts is not accepting new members at this time - Our community though is always open to respectful players.
