Yet another 8800 on Vista user, and I can confirm that despite tweaking the hell out of my config settings, dialing down my resolution, fiddling with HDR, and updating every damn driver I can think of, this game is still S L O O O W W W W... I can fully understand an initial lack of support for Vista - but speaking as someone who works for another small game dev shop, I can tell you that Microsoft (and Nvidia for that matter) has worked very closely with any interested game devs on getting their bits up to par for Vista. It is a shame that BI hasn't placed more of an effort here. With XP evaporating from the retail and volume sales channel, I would think that it is in BI's best interest to capture the Vista audience.

Again, no luck. I run as admin anyways - and even if UAC was getting fired by ArmA, that would prompt a dialog. I get nothing. ArmA says that it is saving, but I have zero files under my Documents\Arma folder. Between this and the choppy, sluggish perf I'm getting, I fear that ArmA is rapidly heading for the un-install pile... It is unplayable.

Nope, no such luck. I see that various folders have been created, but they are all empty. Do I need to run ArmA in XP compat mode on Vista?

I couldn't find any reference to this issue on other threads... I'm running Vista 32-bit, ArmA 1.08 (Atari-US), 8800GTX. Nothing in the game seems to save... for instance, if I change video options, they are back to defaults the next time I start the game. If I play a mission, and save it at some point, the Load button is always disabled. Playing a Campaign, every time I re-load ArmA it puts me right back to Mission 1. Any clues?
