How many of you old OFP Veterans are still playing BIS games?
thetintickid replied to nettrucker's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I'm still playing. OPF GOTY with my son. What a great game! It has provided us with countless hours of entertainment. I bought the game when it was on the shelf and have bought several copies since. I'd like to thank anyone who was involved with producing this game it is a true piece of craftsmanship. The other day my wife asked me if I ever got tired of working on the maps, or playing the game? I guess she hasn't realized yet I plan on retiring to Nogova... (haha) -

QG missing after 1.14 patch upgrade
thetintickid replied to thetintickid's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I'll try that when I get a chance. I'm currently in the process of reinstalling. Thanks for the advice. -
Hi all, I saw this question asked in the 1.14 troubleshooting thread but never saw a reply. I have a copy of ArmA gold. when I install out of the box, v1.08I have Queens Gambit, but after installing the 1.14 patch Queens gambit is gone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice to confirm. Is this a known issue with the 1.14 patch? Thanks.

Is ArmA a scaled down version of flashpoint?
thetintickid replied to thetintickid's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Thanks for all the replies. I know what you are thinking... "he must be an idiot!" (haha) I don't see how I missed it when it was right there in front of me. I see how to use the group menu to access the gear menu of each soldier almost identical to the original flashpoint. I swear when I was in the game I clicked every option. I agree Rudolf I should have gone straight to ARMAII, but I didn't wan't to miss anything in the progression of the game. subs17: QG??? Thanks again. -
Is ArmA a scaled down version of flashpoint?
thetintickid replied to thetintickid's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
In Flashpoint as I recall you could go to mapview and quicky cycle through all your team members loadout. I used to carry a sniper rifle and have other members of the team carry one magazine of my caliber in the place of one of their own. when on a long range patrol if I ran out no matter were I could have the team member "drop" a mag and I could pick it up. Either by selecting them and using the action option, or by going to the Map, selecting the teammember and "dropping" the item. In ArmA in this first team mission I was trying to get my Sgt. "2" to drop his binoculars as I didn't start out with any. The only option in the action "6" menu was to "gear" but then he had to run to the nearest ammo crate instead of just dropping it in place? I don't mean to detract from all the excellent points of the game but I found this to be frustrating as it was an intregal part of flashpoint. It just doesn't seem as fast and intuitve to see what everybody is carrying ie has left. but like I said I'm new to ArmA, I may just need to get used to the interface. ---------- Post added at 07:48 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 AM ---------- Yeah the weapon handling is better, and the ballistic model is alot better. "actually see some bullet drop" I'd just like to select a man, beable to hit gear and see what he has without his having to move. Then beable to make him drop items in place. The AI seems much better. ---------- Post added at 07:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:48 AM ---------- I just liked the fact in Flashpoint of dispersing my load out among the entire team. I could have a couple of soldier carry one extra rocket for the LAW, or extra smoke grenades or whatever. then on a long patrol, when you got a break you could huddle up and redistribute magazines and ordinance. It was challenging to get through a long patrol without having to use opfor weapons. It just added to the immersiveness of the missions. for all I know there is a way still to do that but I just haven't figgured it out. -
I just purchaced this game and have been working my way through the campaign. I've got to the point were I can command a squad, but it isn't like I remembered in Flashpoint. I can't seem to get the soldiers to drop items in place like in Flashpoint. Now it seems they have to move to some resupply point before I can access the gear menu? I hope I'm just missing something and this functionality hasn't been taken away. It was details like this that makes flashpoint a truly immersive and tactical game to play. Has anyone experience this in transitioning to ArmA?

I read through the Request Summary, all excellent suggestions. I would like to beable to use binoculars while turned out in the command cupola in all-applicable armor.
