Hi - noob is online again On of the first missions in "Cold War Crisis" is "After Montignac" - as you probably remember, I just have stormed Montignac, but got fought back und had to flee to the wood with my troop. In the next mission I'm alone and should run to a evacuation zone. Everyvery are hostiles and mostly in thirds oder bigger. Hard to find, good skilled, deadly. I should run the way to the EVAC in 15 minutes, that's impossible... I have really no clue, how I should pass this examine... is somewhere a jeep hidden? Or is somewhere a M116 on the way, which could pick me up? Hope you can help me? I've already searched this forum, but didn't find anything... maybe I forgot something?
  2. Hi! I've encountered the "Independence Lost"-Site via Avon's FAQ. Very cool pics - really. Seems to be an improved engine too. Is this project stop and to be continued, like mentioned on the site? Or is it completely stopped? Or will it be part of OFP2? The more I play OFP the more it gets interesting for me - in the meantime this game atracts me more an more, although it is 3 years old

    Vulcan out of ammo

    Hi there! I'm just trying around a little bit with the Single Missions. In the Mission "Vulcan" with subtitle "Relax!" you have to get those Vulcan tanks to the base in the E. (Pretty cool mission - I never passed it, but I like this chopper defending action... hehe) And soon there comes one Hind after another, lots of speznaz and a squad with APC, BMP and a T80 a last There are soldiers in the base, but they aren't under my command. They do nothing, although there are piles of grenades, satchels, mines and mortars... and my vulcans can hardly managed those choppers alone. In the end they run out of ammo - but there's a ammo truck standing around. How can I get this ammo into my Vulcans? Or how can I get my Vulcans reloaded at this tanks? When I tell them to get to the truck, they do so - and nothing more...

  6. I have replayed the situation again and again - and if I had the possibility to see the fight from the eyes of the bots it would be clear for everyone. It's OK, that a sniper gives me a headshot before I can see him - that's the principle of a sniper. But it's not fair, that a soldier with an AK47 manages the same through a bush and from a distance, that I can't see him. He hits me without a glance of seeing me. I HATE THIS! Â And this problem has nothing to do with my resolution 1024x768 - with 1600x1280 it would be the same. The detail levels are rather high. It has also something to do with the difficulty level of this game, which cannot be changed - only the own handicaps can be roughly changed between "Cadet" and "Veteran"... but the AI level of the enemies cannot be changed. Aaargh! Where's my M21?? Â

    Pathfinder problem

    And again: the whole squad gets annihilated. I tried several ways to solve this, also like it was explained here... When I kill the sniper on the other hill, then the squad survives longer  But not much - this has to do with an incapable commander and with the "visibility problem" I already posted on OPF2-Suggestions... No matter what I do, in the end: "I am the one and only"  And alone against 1 BMP, 1 Shilka and a dozend of ruskies? Only with a machine gun, without binoculars and grenades, with enemies, with make a headshot over 400 meters through bushes...pfff.. Does anyone have a tip? When the mission starts, we are like presented on a silver plate - standing on that meadow, observable for everyone... <span style='font-size:6pt;line-height:100%'>And "yes, I have searched this forum" and "yes, I have searched Avon's Site"...</span>

    What's on with a screensaver?

    Someone started collecting pictures for it here! Is this opus done now? Or is it still under construction? OR: Is ANY OTHER OFP screensaver available somewhere? This, I think, would also be a VERY IMPORTANT thing for the advertisment of OFP2. In fact I don't understand, why Bohemia didn't make any nice wallpapers or screensavers. The development does only take very little affort und the effect is very much - because with such a screensaver every user PC becomes an advert. I've already thought about some sort of a bot match screensaver with Counterstrike - but it also would be nice to see the island intro films as screensaver...

  12. Hi! At first, I've already searched Avon's FAQ and this forum, too. But on Avon I didn't find a hint, and here I find everything, but not the correct help. I've finally managed to get through the "After Mont"-Mission, escaped from the Ruskies and now I'm with a resistance group "White Wolf". 1. When the tank get's destroyed and we took out the whole village and the enemy truck, then we get the command to get in the truck and then... BANG! And were are all killed by a BMP, which suddenly appears... 3. Very often the Black Bear Squad doesn't manage to take out the T72. How can I help that squad taking out that tank? 4. When I find a guard with my binoculars and I click right, very often there happens nothing. But often, although I don't click, I message the object to the leader. 5. It is also strange, that I ran to SSW to encounter that BMP first and message it to the leader. But there is no BMP - and than suddenly there comes the Massage "4 O'Clock BMP"... But I was there... there was no BMP coming. Do enemies spawn into missions, so that they appear suddenly? And of course, the whole team is killed... What am I doing wrong? Now I don't have a problem with savegames - this mission is relative easy, most kills are mine. But then this BMP... And we have an LAW-soldier in the squad and a sniper - but they do nothing... Shall I kill the LAW-soldier and get the weapon?

    Pointy-headed commanders

    Hi! Now I have had good progress in CWC since "After Mont" - without cheats and additional saves. (this shows, that the missions are highly different in degree of difficulty and length) But I've read much on Avon's FAQ and there I got this cool link to Gamespot's OFP Walkthrough THIS ROCKS! Now I've often read about, that I should not carry out some relevant commands of Sgt. Blake. (or whoever is my commander)... IMHO this is a problem in gameplay - what sense makes a commander, if his commands are useless? And every soldier does it's own way - imagine that in a real combat. Surely not every command is worth being done, and even commanders are only human, but most of the commands should make sense. (This seems to be the cause, why I had to retry that "in the woods with guerillas"-mission so many times - and in the "undercover" mission I stood on my own again, because the others were completely incompetent - I never would have taken this russian post THAT way...) And: Many missions aren't really solveable, if you do not have any spoiler info. So how should I destroy that cannon boats in "Night patrol", if I don't know, that there's a M2 at the light tower! Noone in the game told me that... And how can I destroy that boats, before they destroy the radar station? They are too far away from the tower... (best I would take the M2 and place it on the other hill in the north or at the station directly) I managed to get both boats after they destroyed the Vulcan, but for the Hinds there was no ammo left. I know, if you are security post, you are told about the whole facility, where is what and so on... and also it is unlogical, that I cannot give ALARM! when I see something (although I have radio access), and even if I fire a flare there happen's nothing...

    But there are files with the extension WRP in a folder "worlds" - and also a file INTRO.WRP. Is this another format? Can I "unwrp" files somehow?

    Eh.. I wasn't able to find the "[islandname].intro" folder - in my OFP\Addons-folder there are a bunch of PBO-files, but no islands. I know, that there are intro-files - I've seen them some time ago, but I can't find them yet...

    Hi to all! A friend recommended OFP to me as a very realistic simulation - meanwhile I recognized, what's the different between Counterstrike and OFP Â Anyway, I have a problem with the editor: My Insert-Windows don't show most of the parameters, which are mentioned in the manual. These are: Info age Vehicle lock Rank Unit Special Name Initialization Condition of presence Placement radius (I've installed the German version, so all titles are German, of course) Are these parameters important for the creation of an operation? I think so... I also have tiny knackers in the sound... And what's the different between "Player" and "Playable"? Does "Playable" make Sense for a Singleplayer Mission? Best regards,

    Hehe, sorry, I didn't read your answers but now. Besides: I was a little frustrated about the difficulty of this game and prefered to play through Need for Speed Underground. But now, hence my work is done there, I continued here again... Thanks for your tips - and: Editing seems to have so much potential - I unpbo-ed the mission "Ground Attack I" to get to know an example about editing. And it's very complex  I will read your crash course cook book then... I wanted to read the manuals all the time, but never got time to do so. Now I have a good motive to do it!

    Just look here! THANKS to Avon's Homepage I could solve my Crackling Problem - I have a SB Live Platinum and it had to do with the last mentioned "Turbo"-Settings in the registry.

    VERY NICE IDEA! And now I've understood it - first I have to command the Vulcan to go to the ammo truck - and then I have to command "Reload" - or the Vulcan reloads automatically, as m21man mentioned. Thanks for your tips - this sounds logical - I will try this in the next time...

  24. I know, probably this has been discussed here already - but I have problems with the thrust of the helis and airplanes. It seems this is because there's no indicator, how much the thrust is. With an indicator, if the thrust is 20%,30%,70%,100% or ZERO % the steering would be much more easier, particulary the landing. Sometimes, when I lower the thrust to bring down the chopper, suddenly the thrust is zero and the chopper looses rapidly height and crashes to the ground. What happens, when I press Q? In auto-hover-mode it seems, that the height is increased. An what happens in airplanes then? And when I press Y? OK, I have to say, that the choppers are much better controlable than the choppers or planes in BF1942 or Desert Storm. (it was funny to watch the bots flying choppers - they mostly made funny loopings and then crashed to the ground - sometimes this watching is also dangerous for the player ) And some want OFP2 to be the "all-in-one device suitable for every purpose". Why not also integrate a real formula one simulation? Â But it's right - there is potential to improve the steering of vehicles, choppers and airplanes...
  25. Hi there! I know, there is a far way to got through CWC  for me, I'm actually trying the mission "Interdiction--On the Rocks Near Lolisse" - this undercover night mission. Man, this is hard, really - I don't think, anyone managed this mission in the first try... I also have no clue, how I should get those satchels to the tanks, because there are lots of ruskies on patrol and a T80 ist also on the move. In every move I got spotted and.... *singing* this is the end, my only friend, the end... surely there will be a way somehow and I will succeed then, but: The missions are varying very strong in difficulty and length (which also is a big factor with only one savegame). IMHO this isn't very good for the motivation - in one mission the player despairs because he tries and tries and tries... then he uses this "endmission" cheat or succeeds somehow and the next mission is much more easier - this continues for some missions and then - such an Impossible Mission again... I know, in real life you cannot choose, how the life goes - sometimes it is easy, sometimes it is hard - but it would be an improvement, if the degree of mission difficulty would not vary that much, but would get harder and harder with time. I also would prefer, when there would be no rule changing - so the player could identify himself better with the actor in the game... OK, it has also the advantage, that the player gets to know every branch of service. Right... probably parted this in chapters would make sense? Being a soldier is my opinion easier than being a undercover agent... <span style='font-size:6pt;line-height:100%'>Besides: Did anyone succed at the single mission "Ambush"? My squad get's annihilated and then I'm the only survivor and have to get back somehow... please get me a sniper rifle  </span>
