There are people with quad core CPUs that can't run it on max settings! I've got an E6600, 4gig DDR2 and an 8800GTS and I have to have most settings on medium.

Maybe I'm being incredibly sadistic - but does anyone know why you can't see bodies etc in the destroyed/burnt out vehicles anymore? On the original Flashpoint I always thought that was quite good! Right now if you blow up a Blackhawk full of troops you just get an empty burnt out shell - not particularly realistic if you ask me! Another thing that bugs me - is there any way that the devs could remove the awquard transitition between parachuting and landing on the ground? It just feels quite jarring when the screen fades to black and back in quickly when hitting the ground. If it was one flowing movement it would be much better.
-
Well surely they could just enable it for single player and disable it for multiplayer?
-
I'm glad I'm not the only twisted person on here then I just think you lose some of the effect if you can't see the consequences of your actions. It's a war simulation afterall. I can't see it effecting performance much at all.

I'd like the flight model to be like BF2 - but I'm probably alone on that one I just really enjoyed flying helicopters on BF2 - but it's far too fiddly in OFP/Armed Assault!

I didn't think it was possible to change the max read ahead on the 8800 cards with the latest drivers? Whenever I try it I get blue screens when I start up games. -
Yeah, I think the problem is with the 8800 series of cards mainly
-
Framerates are notably down on 1.5 for me too - using an 8800GTS, 4gig DDR2 and Core 2 Duo 6600. I was barely hitting 25-30fps before, now I'm probably barely hitting 20

Yup, after the 1.5 patch I'm also stuck with a game I can't play! I think its absolutely rediculous having 3 activations - especially if every patch you install uses one up! Doesn't look like we're gonna be getting any help till next week either -
Agreed - I can't even play the game now because the patch put me one activation over the limit!
-
I'd love to be able to give my impressions, but the patch put me one activation code over the limit on my German copy! Now I've gotta wait for them to send me a new one which will probably take days

Sorry Duplicate

Sorry Duplicate!

Typical - I formatted my computer yesterday so I reinstalled my German downloaded copy of Armed Assault earlier today (yes, a legal one! and activated it. Everything went fine. Now I've just patched it and it wanted me to activate it again - couldn't because I'd already done it the 3 times! Arghhh. No doubt I'll now have to wait till next week before I can play the ruddy thing!

That's not a fact at all - I've been fiddling around with it for weeks and get terrible performance no matter what settings I use. The framerate is just as poor on 1280x1024 as it is on 1680x1050 - and this is with an E6600, 8800GTS, 2gig DDR2 ram. I was on the demo earlier with a few friends and I was barely hitting 20fps! Something is wrong then, your system should run the game with no problems. I know people who are running it with no problems using rigs similar to yours. PS : See if this helps http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1547 Also, make sure the card drivers are set to "Application Controlled" for AA and AF. He also mentioned the "Demo" which I think has a problem, I'm on a 3500+ @ 2.4Ghz 6800GT 256MB and 1GB Ram. Running CTF in the demo I always seem to be stuck around 20 - 22 FPS and thats from changing all options from Low to High and back etc. Even lower or higher resolutions barely makes any difference in framerate. Looking into the sky with nothing in view my FPS only goes up to mid 30's while in the full version it jumps up a lot higher. Na, I've got the full version too - no better in that either. Pretty much the only time I get over 30fps is out in the desert with nothing about!

A 3800+ is probably holding an 8800GTS back a bit too. I had a 3500+ with an 8800GTS and it slowed the card right down. Therefore I bought a Core 2 Duo E6600 - although it still runs Armed Assault badly

Is the game borked or is my computer too little.
twoodster replied to Enigma's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Computers that can run this game on high haven't been invented yet. Come back in 20-25 years. -
I've got an Core 2 Duo E6600, 2gig DDR ram and an 8800GTS. I also struggle to get anything above 20fps in citys. In fact, the only time I get much above 30 is when I'm in a desert. The game definately has some serious problems somewhere!

Dual Core User try the following
twoodster replied to WhiskeyBullets's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
This argument is completely pointless. Fact of the matter is - it runs pretty shite on any processor -
I don't think a computer that can hack Armed Assault on full settings has been invented yet I'm lucky to get above 20-25fps with a Core 2 Duo 6600, 8800GTS and 2gig DDR ram.
