Hi, I already own Armed Assault and now I want to buy the Queen's Gambit Expansion. I'm thinking of purchasing the ArmA Gold edition instead in order to get the Queen's Gambit and also have a backup DVD disc of the game (in case the disc I already own gets corrupted). My question is: Does the Gold Edition include two separate discs (one for the game & one for the QG expansion) or does it include both the game & the expansion in one DVD disc? I'm asking this because if I purchase the Gold Edition I'd like to keep using the ArmA disc I already own to play the game, not the new one. And I definately don't want to get into the procedure of reinstalling the game and setting up my addons all over again. PS: I'm in Europe so I'm refering to the 505games versions. Thanks in advance

I get the same error!! I installed ArmA on a new machine and it always freezes (completely) on the starting video. It has never made it to the menu!! The minidump generated is: I have tried EVERYTHING but can't make it work! The system freezes completely (no ctrl+alt+Del, audio, alt+tab etc). The only option is hard-boot! My specs are: Win XP SP2 (+ .NET Frameworks installed) M/B Asus Maximus Formula Nvidia 7600 GT Sata HDD All latest drivers installed + DirectX March 2008 I'm currently on ArmA v1.05 but have already tried with v1.08 and get the same problem. Please somebody help! I'm desperate trying to fix it!!! Thanks in advance guys

Game halts for 2/3 seconds when I access Gear

I have the same problem on my Acer 9815 laptop when using my Logitek G11 USB keyboard. All my drivers are up to date and ArmA is the only piece of software I have tested that has problems (I believe that it has to do with the TrackIR support built into ArmA or something). Anyway the workaround for me is to unplug and replug the USB devices while in game. Then everything works fine. -
Don't focus on the 8800 drivers. I don't believe that this is the actual problem even though the drivers are indeed in an early state of development. I'm having the same issues on my Acer 9815 laptop. Intel Core2Duo T7200 (2 GHz), nVidia 7600 GS/256 mb vram, 2 GB ddr2 Ram. I notice fps loss (milliseconds of freezing) every 5-10 meters running around or looking fast in different directions. I also have problems with my USB devices. Whenever I enter the map, gear or options the game freezes for 3-5 secs and then I regain control of my mouse. The same thing happens whenever I get out of these modes (map, gear, etc.). The only workaround I found to fix the USB related problems was while ingame to unplug and then replug my USB keyboard!.. I have came to the conclusion that ArmA needs a full revision and update. I believe that the BIS programers did not take into consideration Core 2 Duo CPUs, USB peripherals conflicts, CPU thread distribution and the way textures are loading into ram. Don't lose your time plugging and unplugging video cards. Even though you may fix a problem you still have to deal with the rest.. I gave up trying to fix all of these by myself. And I strongly believe that these are actually bags and not hardware/driver issues because I have managed to run a lot of highly demanding applications and games (like Flight Simulator X) without any of these problems. Just the normal limits of my hardware which were already expected.

I don't know if this is the problem in the code. The only thing that I'm sure is that THERE IS A USB RELATED PROBLEM IN THE CODE. Please find it and do something about it. As I said before, ArmA is one of the most exciting games/sims I have ever experienced and as a professional Mod/AddOn Developer and an enthusiast I have dreams about this engine. Talking to people leaving the ArmA community just because of the bags makes me very very sad.

So what do you mean.. Are we talking lies? Or do you blaim everybody else than you? I know how the story goes very well.. Microsoft is a great teacher.. Developer's Handbook rev.2007: 1) Release a product 25% ready and 25% tested. 2) When the problems start to arise and you need two servers to support your forum then don't panic.. 3) Make a public statement (NO MORE THAN 11 WORDS) blaiming everybody/everything else than you for the problems. Windows is a great shelter to hide bags. Noone knows anything and everything is someone other's fault. 4) Count on and be friends with the customers who join a KNOWN, CONFIRMED AND EXISTING BAG thread in the forum just to say that evrything works fine in their computers. PS: If you don't have such customers ..just buy some. We know how the story goes now.. I should reconsider my profession. Software developer is a great opportunity to work 50% and be paid for 200%.

I don't believe that it has to do with the USB keyboard but the USB controller itself. We can't blaim Logitech or any other USB peripherals manufacturer beacause if you unplug and replug the keyboard everything works great. If it was a keyboard or USB driver problem it would keep not working after replugging. It's obvious that its an ArmA bug. Hope that 1.06 patch fixes it cause I'm tired leaning on my knees to unplug the USB cord everytime I want to play ArmA!!!

I had the following problem in ArmA 1.05: Whenever I opened the Map, Gear or Options dialog (by pressing the Esc key) during a game (SP & MP), ArmA was freezing for 3-4 seconds and when I was closing the above it was freezing again for the same period of time. As you can understand this is a great amount of time during combat causing me to get shot like a sitting duck! It's also very very annoying having to wait everytime you'd want to check the map or change gear. I'm running ArmA on an Acer 9815 laptop with Intel c2d T7200 CPU, nVidia Geforce Go 7600 GS/256mb and 2GB of Ram. After a week trying to figure out what's the issue I had started to believe that it was my graphic card's driver problem. But today I found out what the problem actually is (with help from sfmadmax from our forums).. It was my USB keyboard causing the problem!!!!!!! If you start ArmA, start a mission and during the game unplug the USB cable of the keyboard and then plug it again everything returns to normal until you reboot your system... The keyboard I'm using is a Logitech G11 with latest drivers. Also the same problem exists on other people's pcs with different USB keyboards than mine. So it hasn't have to do with the USB devices themselves but with ArmA. Please BIS if you read.. Correct these kind of bugs. It's a shame for such a game to lose fans because of these annoying bugs. If anyone has found any workaround (not plugging and unplugging the keyboard all of the time) please share..

..and finally I found out the solution to my problem!.. Actually sfmadmax replied to my pm. Thanks sfmadmax!!! In my case (and sfmadmax's too) it's a USB keyboard causing the problem!!!!!!!!!! Start the game, start a simple mission, unplug the USB keyboard, plug it again and voila!!!.... Everything works great Tricky, isn't it?? Please BIS (..if you hear us...) correct this kind of bugs. Please, please, please

I also don't think that it has to do with windows installation or hard disk. I believe it's a graphic card's issue. Please take a look at the post I mentioned later. That guy really found a workaround and it had to do with nvidia drivers (something about an MGMT controller). I don't have such an entry in my Add/Remove programs list so I'm becoming more confused now.. Please anybody help..

I have exactly the same problem on my Acer 9815 laptop: Intel c2d T7200 nVidia geForce GO 7600 GS/256mb Ram 2048 It seems that someone has found a solution here in our forums and I have tried sending him an email. I hope he sees it and respond. Check out the topic: Game halts for 2/3 seconds when I access Gear. Please any information appreciated...

So, what's the workaround sfmadmax? I also have the same problem on my Acer 9815 laptop with nVidia 7600 GS/256. Gear, Options, and mainly the map halt make me want to throw the pc out of the window.. Please any info appreciated.
